TEXAS HOLD’EM• Established in the early 1900′s, Texas Hold’em is one of the
most popular poker games known to date
• The objective is have the best five card hand after you have been dealt two cards and the board shows five
• You need to use each of your two cards as well as three of the five cards showing on the board
• Obviously, there is betting involved as cards are dealt and ultimately can be used to your advantage in order to make a competitor believe your hand is better than his, even if it’s not
• There are many different great winnings hands
• Lets take a look at the various different combinations
ROYAL FLUSH• The “Royal Flush” is the best hand you can have
• This is when you have an Ace, King, Queen, Jack, and Ten, all of the same suit
STRAIGHT FLUSH• Similar to the Royal Flush, a straight
flush is five consecutive cards of the same suit
• Now someone else can also have a straight flush but the straight flush that finishes at the highest card wins
FOUR OF A KIND
• Here you hold all of the same card, for example four Kings
FULL HOUSE• A full house is the combination of three of one card and two of another
• For example, if you had three eights and two kings, you would have a eights full of kings full house
• Now the higher the top card in the full house when it comes to two different full houses determines the winner of the hand
FLUSH• A flush is when you have five cards of the same
suit
• An example would be a three, four, seven, nine, and jack all of clubs
• This would be a jack high flush. The flush with the highest card at the top wins the hand
STRAIGHT• A straight is when you have five consecutive cards
based on number/rank
• An example of this would be a combo of ten, jack, queen, king, ace
• The straight leading up to the highest card would ultimately win
THREE OF A KIND• Three of a kind is just as it sounds,
when your card combination holds three of the same card
TWO PAIR• Two Pair is when you have two card and
matched them with two card on the board
ONE PAIR• Here you will have matched one card
that you hold with a card on the board
