Aa-Choo! God Bless youFebruary 16, 0600 Ever wondered why we say ‘God bless you’ when someone sneezes? Pope Saint Gregory I decreed that this was the correct response to a sneeze, which was believed to be a sign of the Black Plague that was prevalent in the 14th century and would most certainly result in death.
Aretha Franklin Announces Return to the StageFebruary 17, 2011Following emergency surgeries and hospital visits, Aretha Franklin, American singer, songwriter and the ‘Queen of Soul’ cancelled all concerts and public appearances for six months, creating a frenzy among the public. Franklin announced that she will return to the stage in May after overcoming an undisclosed medical ailment.

Everybody take a jump, take a jump, take a jump up now! It’s that time of year again when Friday nights are filled with the energy of soca at Bacchanal Fridays. The launch of the Jamaican soca season officially kicks off tonight at the Mas Camp and culminates with Road March on April 7.
Trinidadian DJ Private Ryan, fresh from Trinidad Carnival, along with FAME 95FM’s DJ Sanjay, will be providing the musical fix for the soca junkies in attendance and with good vibes, good drinks and good company the night is sure to be a memorable one.
Tickets are presold at Ammar’s and at the Mas Camp and will also be available at the gate. VIP season passes for the event will be available only at the Mas Camp for $12,000. Key sponsor Smirnoff is also offering a VIP season pass for the same price, that will allow patrons access to the all-includive VIP area as well as the Smirnoff booth. These pass holders will also get a 10 per cent discount on Smirnoff’s Cirque du Minuit costume.

Lacey-Ann Bartley is the Managing

designs, manufactures and sells 100
per cent Jamaican handmade wooden
furniture, jewellery and household

Entrepreneurship - Caribbean.
What was your favourite part about being in London? My favourite part of the trip is most definitely a toss up between visiting Virgin HQ and dinner on the Thames.
What did you miss the most about home while you were there? Most definitely the sunshine. It was cold.
What’s the most interesting thing that happened while you were there? For me the most interesting thing was the response to my products and presentation. A lady came up to me and told me that my presentation made her cry. It was such a thrill not only representing the Branson Centre, but Jamaica and Bartley’s.
Now that you’re back home, what do you miss the most about London?I miss the fashion, the fast pace and, funny enough, the food.
