Chapter 1

ATTENTION PARTICIPANTS! the A.I. of the shipannounced.

Dude, I cant believe we are sitting on a spaceship. It is like

my dream come true. Aarons excessively excited friend Dan

said.

Cannot say it for himself, he thought. He had the experience

from playing games or more accurately virtual games, which are

5-d and the player does everything him selves, no controller.

The experience of spaceship is same in game and reality.

Yeah hereplied.

Dan is a cool kid who came from England because he was fed

up of his boring life. Well, everyone came from different

countries but reasons for coming here are almost the same.

Boring life, financial problems, publicity, and unfortunately

forced by their guardians for money. However, Aarons reasonwas much more personal than these were. He is here because

of his family. Three years ago, his brother left home to go to

the island. It was the second year of the infamous the games

something Aarons mother used to say as dead mans isle. His

mother words were very true as in the games out of all the

participants only one make out alive.

Yes, he used to believe that when the games were launched for

the first time, 4 years back. The rules says survive the game

and walk out as the ultimate winner. The winner would be

awarded with a life of heaven, a life in a castle where CRYSTAL

the organization, who organized the games, would cover allthe expenses. Three years back his brother went to the games

and won. We thought our lives will change now, from poverty to

the life of castle but his brother never returned.

His parents are even today waiting for his return but Aaron

knew better. It was the only reason he came here - Thegames. He is here to find out what happened to his brother

Dale. But last week when he was supposed to be taking his

survival lessons, he sneaked up on a CRYSTAL officer and found

out something much more sinister than just the disappearance

of his brother

EVERYONE IS REQUESTED TO WEAR THEIR OXYGEN

MASK AS WE ARE ENTERING THE WORLD OF GAMES.Announced the A.I.

Aaron put on his mask as did everyone present on the ship. He

glanced at Ray. He was tall with muscular body, with tiger-like

beard. He came from Brazil and Aaron and Dan had samethoughts that he will be the most dangerous competitor. In

addition, it did not help that the two of them never get

together well. He had already made up his gang consisting of

almost every best competitor during the training.

No not a good thing.

Dan was his best friend here and pretty much the only one. He

wasnt a popular figure here unlike Dan. There are some kids

here he can call his friends but he mostly spends his time with

Dan or alone.

Man I can already feel the nervousness. I mean how am I going

to survive here? I mean look at those body builders like Ray.

Said Dan

It was true, even though Dan was popular and get together with

everyone pretty good he was small and very..Feminine.

My brain so heavy with all the nervousness Dan continued.

Well now you mentioned I can also feel the heaviness in my

brain. Aaron answered.

Strange his head was waiting a ton, suddenly a girl fell

unconscious in her seat, and then another and then everyone

started felling unconscious he felt Dan fell too and then he left

control of his body too.

When he woke up, he heard some strange noises. He opened his

eyes and found himself lying on the metallic floor of the ship.He saw a girl name Trina was speaking in some foreign

language. He felt his senses coming back and realized that

Trina was speaking English all right.

. My hair is a mess, what happened right now? Trina asked to

no one in particular.

Dan mumbled something and opened his eyes.

Sup dude? Aaron asked.

My head is no longer feeling heavy.

Yeah hesaid wondering why.

ATTENTION! THE PARTICIPANTS ARE NOW

ENLIGHTENED TO THE LOCAL LANGUAGE.The A.I. said.

Local language? Aaron thought.

THE GAS RELEASED FROM THE GAS MASK SET YOUR

BRAIN TO THE DEFAULT LANGUAGE THAT IS THE LOCAL

LANGUAGE. YOU WILL NO LANGER BE ABLE TOUNDERSTAND ENGLISH AS LONG AS YOU ARE IN THE

GAMES. the A.I. reassured the panicked crowd.

It seems very strange to Aaron because he knows he was

speaking English or he thinks he did. As far as he could

remember on TV the participants speaks English. However, if

they were enlightened to the local language it would mean

that they had to dub the entire games in English. But wouldnt

dubbing result in different voice? How the voice of a person

can be same if someone else dubs it? Because as far as he could

remember Dale had the same voice in the TV.

And we thought it was an oxygen mask.Said Iwan. He was aparticipant but friend.

Wow they are inserting gas in a brain that is already filled with

fart. Milo said another participant but at the same time a

member of Rays gang.

Many kids laughed at this and Iwan blushed withembarrassment.

Yeah, kids. We are just kids who will kill each other. After all,

it is just a Game.Well perhaps not kids but we are not fully

adult yet. I am 16 and everyone else is 16 or near 16 too. In

fact, Dan is just 1 day older than I am.

Ignore him dude. Dan said.

Iwan smiled a little but it was clear he would not let Milo get

away with it. Milos sudden change of expression from laughing

to menacing meant that he knew it too but he wasnt scared

because he had a whole gang to back him up.

Suddenly Aaron felt something. It was the felling of being

watched. When he looked around, he noticed a girl named

Veronica staring at him, but when he looked at her, she quickly

averted her gaze.

Suddenly Aaron felt an upward jerk. Inertia. They are landing

on playing grounds where the first phase of the Games will take

place.

I am very excited you know, about seeing all the aliens we saw

on TV. The big wolfs the anacondas, the Minotaurs and all! Itsoverwhelming. Kenny said always like a bookworm.

Ill rather enjoy killing them. Andy a born bully said.

Yeah go home bookie, its not a place of research, its a killing

field where those aliens wont mind eating your too big brain.

Said Jackie a Chinese or was it Japan? Well wherever he camefrom did not matter what matters is that he is too a member of

Rays gang that means an enemy and bully.

Another upward jerk silently announced the landing.

The huge door of spaceship opened leaving the breath-takingview of the Enchanted Island before the participants. It all felt

like a cut scene from Halo to Aaron. However, instead of some

ugly aliens he saw a stunning and very handsome man standing

alone on the ground. He was wearing a pure black t-shirt and

grey jeans. He wore no beard or mustache but he had an air of

authority in him.

PARTICIPANTS ARE REQUESTED TO REMOVE THEIR

OXYGEN MASK. The A.I. said.

By the looks of the participants, neither of them had realized

that they still wore their masks. Upon realizing, they quickly

removed them. Dan and Aaron did the same.

I welcome you to the island of doom. Said an awestruck Dan.

The participants slowly stepped out of the ship followed by the

sound of the A.I. HAVE A NICE STAY EVERYONE.

When everyone was out the spaceship, it quickly flew away

leaving the kids alone with the stranger. As they approached

the man, he smiled at them, which made many girls blush and

many boys frustrate because of the attention the girls were

paying to the stranger. The man looked like he was in histwenties and had a muscular body. Everyone was closing the

distance between themselves and the man. Ray was in the lead

and quickly made it to the stranger. He demanded, who the

hell are you?

The stranger smiled even more widely and replied with voiceloud, arms wide and looking into the heaven,

I? I am your host and the game master of this game and

CRYSTAL. I am Sander!

Chapter 2

The kids followed the game master into the woods. Every kid

was awestruck by the amazing sight he or she was seeing. Tall

green trees, green grass covering the ground, butterflies and

other beautiful birds were everywhere, sunlight was making its

way from between the thick forest cover, to their left therewas an unbelievably clean river, which was falling from a

waterfall. The mere sight of the waterfall was amazing. Brown

bucks were visible randomly near the trees and the big purple

apples made their mouths water.

Aaron realized how much time had passed since he had eaten

something. They left their training camp (where theparticipants were trained in the arts of survival) during the

previous day and had landed today when it was still early

morning. They were given food only once during their ride. An

hour has passed since they had landed. They were following the

game master ever since and it had left Aaron even more

hungry.

The Game Master. Aaron wondered why had the old game

master who has been hosting the games for the past 3 years had

left. Whatever the reason had been they were now struck here

with the new game master. Every kid had planned how to

impress the old game master. The three years had left the kids

with enough information about him to make their notes aboutwhat he likes and dislikes. But they knew nothing about sander.

Now I believe you all are hungry? sander asked.

Thats right. My belly is hanging like an empty bag. Milo

replied.

Yeah I believe you all havent eaten since your lunch

yesterday?

Yeah replied the chorus of kids.

Well you see those purple apples on the trees? I believe you

do, so go ahead, hop on, grab them, and eat them all you want.

We will continue after 15 minutes break.

That was all it needed for the hungry kids to run madly at

trees. Some started to climb trees where as some started to hit

rocks at the apples. Dan quickly climbed a tree and passed an

apple to Aaron, which he gratefully ate. After eating each, one

of them lied down in the soft grass and waited until the break is

over, grateful for the rest they were getting.

Alright now stand up we still have a long way to go the game

master yelled at them.

How long till we finally stop? asked Iwan.

Not much I believe another half an hour we maintain a good

pace. Replied sander.

In addition, the kids started to follow their host again. After the

rest and breakfast, no one was complaining anymore so they

reached their destination in around 20 minutes.

Welcome to the Ghouls isle where one of the two groups will

be spending their next one month. However, today you all willrest here. Lunch would be provided in another 3 hours and

dinner at night. Tomorrow you will be escorted to the gaming

grounds for the first day of the Games. Said the game master

rules, grouping, tasks and further instructions will be given

tomorrow. Have a nice day.

Sander left them and the kids marched towards the tents. The

island was surrounded by the ocean and the isle was located on

the shore. Everyone had a separate tent, which had a bed,

chair, and a table. This made the total of 34 tents. Girls had

their tent on one end of the Ghouls isle whereas buys had on

the other. Everyone had fallen down on their beds and was

waiting for their lunch.

The loud sound of a boat woke everyone from his or her sleeps.

All of them came out of their tents to investigate about the

sound. They saw a huge boat was coming towards the Ghouls

isle. The banner of LUNCH was clear to every one of them.They waited until the boat came ashore. When the boat

stopped, a man dressed in all black came into view.

Lunch is ready, climb aboard and suit yourselves. Said the

man in black.

Ray and Andy looked at each and grinned like a wolf.Attack! shouted Ray running towards the boat.

Every member of his gang followed him. The other kids closely

followed them. The boat was full of food. From Chinese to

Indian every type of food was available. Aaron and Dan stormed

the pizza counter. The kids ate and ate until they puked. After

puking, they came back for more. It was the most delicious

food Aaron had eaten. After 2 hours of eating, they finally came

to a stop and lied down on their beds to sleep again.

Aaron woke up again in the evening by the shouting of Dan.

Wake up dude!

What happened? he asked

Are you planning to sleep all day?

NoI was just feeling a little tired replied Aaron.

Yeah well sleep time over come out or did you forget we were

supposed to enjoy today?

I didnt seem to recall that.

Yeah dude well I just told you, now climb out every one is

already up. Dan said.

I followed him out of my tent to find that everyone was really

outside. The boat was already gone. He was greeted by Iwan,

Edward and matt. Edward and matt came from Manchester and

were Iwans best friends here. The two of them were brothers.

Brothers. The word hit Aaron in the chest. How is he going to

find out about his brother? To do so he first has to survive thegame and to survive the game he would have to kill people, kill

his friends, kill Dan

Sup Aaron? Feeling sleepy? Iwan asked

Not anymore. You cant really sleep when Dan had nearly

destroyed you eardrums. Aaron replied.

Perhaps I should have done just that. Joined Dan.

Aaron saw a kid named Henry running towards them. He was

another bookworm who never left Iwan alone, though it didnt

matter to Iwan and Aaron suspected that Iwan never really had

noticed.

Hey Iwan come with me I have to show you something. Said

Henry.

Just a minute man I am talking to my friends here. Iwan

replied.

Oh hi Aaron, hi Dan, hi Edward, hi matt sorry to disturb you

but we have to go. Said Henry and dragged Iwan with him

towards the shore.

I think Henry thinks he owns Iwan. Said Edward.

Huh! I think he loves him. joked Matt and all four of them

laughed.

See you later dudes said Matt and marched towards the girls

camps.

Wait for me brother! said Edward running towards Matt nice

talking with you Dan and you too Aaron.

See you too Dan called back cmondude lets go swimming

But I dont know how to swim. Aaron said.

What? You dont know how to swim? No problem, I will teach

you. Said Dan.

Night had fallen in and the kids had built up a fire. They were

again waiting for food and Aaron wondered what would they do

from tomorrow? The sound of boat made the kids jump on their

feet.

Food! shouted Milo.

Ray and gang attacked the boat and started eating the food.

Sadly, this time it was only chicken and noodles. Kids ate their

fill and slept again.

A buzzing of horn that woke Aaron from his deep sleep

announced the morning. He was dreaming about him and hisbrother when they used to play. In his dream, he was only 11

years old and his brother was 14. Those were the good old

times, he thought.

He went outside to find Dan coming towards his camp.

Whatsup? Aaron asked Dan.

Dunno dude looks like the games are starting.

Letsfind out Aaron said.

They made their way to the horn to find the man in black

standing in front of the woods at the entry of the Ghouls isle.

He had a horn in his hand. He started speaking, participants!Fun time is over, from today you will be fighting for your lives.

He looked at us expectantly then shouted again, FOLLOW ME!

They followed the man in black into the woods. He was walking

at a furious pace, which made Aaron almost run the entire

time. After what felt like an hour, they stopped to find an open

place, which was well organized. Three huge tents were at thecenter. One side of the place was surrounded by the ocean like

the Ghouls isle but unlike the isle, at the other side of the

place it was surrounded by huge fences. The side from which

they were entering.

Come inside said the man in black.

They followed him inside to find Sander standing on a raised

platform. Aaron felt a sense of dj vu. With a shock, he

realized they were standing on the place where they had

landed the previous day. The Playing Grounds. It had changed

so much that it was almost beyond recognizable.

Welcome to the Playing Grounds. Say hi to the audience.

Sander said looking in the cameras.

Hi said many kids.

Look at me people I am the winner. Said Ray. Aaron remained

silent.

With arms wide sander continued, today we will begin the

fourth annual Games of The Enchanted Island!

He is something dude dont you think? asked Dan.

Sure thing bro. Aaron replied.

Thekey word here is SURVIVE if you survive you will win andif you win you walk out as the ultimate winner. As you, all know

the ultimate winner will be rewarded with the life of castle. All

your expensive will be covered by CRYSTAL. But unfortunately

if you lose, well it will be really bad for you cause losing here

means DEATH! sander continued, now for the rules shall I

begin?

Go ahead! shouted Albert a little overweight kid. He was

famous as the flirter because he is always trying to impress a

girl.

Thanks for the permission. Sander said, now first of all thegame will consist of three phases. First group survival. Second

individual survival and the third the race.

In the first phase, youllbe divided into two groups. Each group

will be given a place to reside that is either the Ghouls isle or

the Bones isle. These two places are located at the opposite

end of the island so that there wontbe a conflict but if anymember of a group encounters another, they are free to kill

each other.

You will survive depending upon each other. You will hunt

together, eat together and do the tasks together. Yes the tasks.

During the first phase from time to time, you will be given

different tasks.

And after every 3 days, there will be survival round. Whichever

team wins the round will be rewarded with thing essential to

survive here. From food to weapons to training. Thats right you

can train in the arts of fighting, sword fighting, archery and so

on. You can also buy these things from the trade centre. You

can get the currency either from winning different tasks or byselling different things.

First phase will be end after 2 weeks and the survivors will play

the second phase. Thats all for you need to know right now.

Letsbegin THE FIRST PHASE! sander announced.

Please god let me and Aaron on the same team. Dan prayed.

I will begin by dividing you into two groups. Sander said.

Aaron quietly skipped the dividing to sneak into the biggest of

the three tents. He was sure he would find something of

importance there. The tent was very huge from inside. It waslike a five-star hotel. He saw a letter lying on the desk. He

quickly took it up and started reading.

Sander,

We are placing an awful lot of trust in you. You know it is the last year.

We do not care about those stupid earthians. Soon the whole planet willbe in our control and if everything went according to our plan, you will

be treated fairly. The production of Trennors is going smoothly and

soon it will be done. No one will be able to stop CRYSTAL from

conquering everything. First the enchanted woods, then the earth, and

then many more.

If you fail Sander, CRYSTALsanger will not be pleasant. And I wanta report on the hunt soon. I repeat again I do not care about those

earthians I never did. Kill them all if you have to, even the winner, if it

means we will get resources high enough for one last boost. After the

creation of Trennors, there will be no stopping.

DO NOT DISAPPOINT!

The Advicer

Aaron placed the letter down where it was before and quickly

left the tent to join the others. The letter didnt make much

sense to him but from the information he got from the letter

and the laptop of the officer he sneaked up on back on the

training camp this much was clear. The enchanted island wason another planet. They are using the games as a way of getting

something from earth to produce the Trennors - whatever it is.

And if the production is completed the CRYSTAL will go on a

universe conquering trip. And the most painful thing was they

didnt care about the participants, about the winner, about his

brother. Moreover, one thing was set in his mind now; he willnot be a pawn

Aaron joined Dan and found that the dividing was already

complete and the participants were waiting for their first task.

Where were you dude? Dan asked.

Had to go peeing. He lied.

The teams are on the screen there, go see. Dan said.

Aaron went to the screen to saw the teams. The teams were

return to your isle, you will find all the luxuries gone. You will

be provided with raw materials with which you have to build

your safe haven from wild creatures. We will come tomorrow to

inspect which team had built a better shelter. Whichever teamdid will be awarded with food and weapons. In addition during

the night, wolfs will be released on your isle. If you had a good

defense, they wont be able to kill you. If not, well protect

yourselves, we will meet tomorrow. And yes do not forget to

take your maps with you. They are on the table at your right.

Sander said and entered his tent. They each picked up one map

and left for their isle.

Chapter 3

By the gods Aaron, look at this map. They have changed

everything from the last year. Dan said.

You know I still didnt believe we didnt encounter any

creature yesterday and today. I mean look at this thing they are

everywhere. Said Andre, a little too overweight kid who came

from Spain. He was looking at the map as if it was a bomb.Aaron too was studying the map carefully. It was true that the

predators were everywhere. There were many symbols on the

map. Each symbol meant a different kind of creature. The four

green and curved lines meant anacondas, that grey fang meant

the wolfs, small spiders meant a lair of spider, fire meant tribal

settlement where cannibals lived, the big red plus was the onlyogre base, the black crosses says BEWARE THE COAST

CREATURES. Brown pickaxe indicates a dwarf-mining site

whereas; a brown triangle indicates a Dunver camp. Dunvers

are ruthless brutes who are huge and have superhuman strength

and other abilities. There was a big brown face, which indicates

the beasts meeting place. Every week the beasts huge tiger-

like beasts that have brown skin, meets to discuss their beastlyissues, whatever they are. There was a Minotaur lair, which was

thankfully very far from the Ghouls isle.

Ithink the authorities control the creatures and that is why we

didnt encounter any of them but I doubt they will hesitate

now. Edward said.

Now everyone give a cheerful face. After all, we are on the

cameras we you forget. Milo told them smiling brightly.

Yeah smile all you want Milo cause once we reach our isle we

have lots of work to do. Everyone we have to win this roundotherwise we are dead. Those wolfs will tear us apart if we did

not work hard today. Make sure you all get this. Iwan said.

Who do you think will be the leader of Ghouls isle? Dan asked

I mean Ray will be the leader of bones isle without a doubt,

but what about the Ghouls?

It was true. No one will stop Ray in the bones isle. He had the

whole gang minus Milo and maybe a couple of others to back

him up. As we have seen in the TV for 3 years the kids choose a

leader whose word is last in almost every matter, and that

includes who will do what. According to Aaron, it will be either

Iwan or Milo.

Iwan or Milo will be my guess. Both are capable but whereas

Iwan has better leadership qualities Milo has the fear of Ray

with him. So, its a 50-50 chance. Aaron replied.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing; we dont have a chance of

becoming the leader. Matt said from behind them.

Cheer up man! Cause after the first phase, we will all be aloneremember? Dan said.

Hahaha! You mean if we survive the first phase right? And lets

be honest if we actually do survive the first phase, there will be

the whole Ray gang to fear in the second phase. Matt said.

Dan become quiet after that thinking about the second phaseperhaps but Aaron was thinking about the real thing, about the

earth invasion thing. Was it real? Or was it a new trick CRYSTAL

will introduce later in the game to get high ratings? And the

most important thing what happened to his brother?

They reached the isle in half an hour only to find big piles ofwood, leafs, bushes and some very cheap tools to do the

building. Spades, bamboos, ropes and some other old building

tools were lying here and there.

Where are the machines? Are we supposed to build a tent by

our hands? Trina asked.

Dont you watch TV? We have to do everything like our

ancestors used to do during their field trips. Kenny said.

WHAT? Like our ancestors? How is that possible? And no, I

didnt watch TV. Said a baffled Trina.

Like I said, yes and yes, it is possible. Kenny said.

I have to go for pee. Said Maddie.

Go to the bushes Milo said laughing.

Where is the toilet? Maddie asked, red-faced.

There is no toilet we have to make it too. Iwan said sorry

Maddie but you either had to go to bushes or wait till we aredone making it.

How much time until its done?

I honestly dont know but first we have to design our whole

plan about what will be where and who will do what and so on

and on. Hence, I think it will take time. Again I am sorry. Iwansaid.

All right, Katharine? Will you come with me into the bushes?

Maddie asked Katharine.

Sure Katharine replied.

Now everyone I hope there is no point in asking who will be the

leader. So, as the leader of the bones group I have theresponsibility to decide how to organize things here and based

on my source of information I hereby, make Bailey our chief

architect. Ray announced.

Hear hear! shouted his gang.

Carl had been very sure that Bailey is the person for the job andit was Carl, who showed him the importance of a good

architect. Carl is a useful person to have, Ray thought. Carl was

smart, no correct that, Carl is very smart, capable and at the

same time reliable. With his help, Ray had no doubt that his

team will win. The Ghouls had no one who can design a good

defense system or a good safe haven. It would be his first win

but it will not be his last. He is here to win that is why he madea whole gang to survive the second phase. Before the third

phase, he will remove every threat that can make his success

difficult. And unfortunately, that includes his royal friend

Jackie. Jackie is strong and athletic that makes him a very good

threat in the race. Nevertheless, Jackie will survive till the end

of the second phase. In the end he will die.

But I dont know how to do it Bailey argued.

Shut up! Do as I say and if you did not do a good job you will

suffer. Do I make myself clear? Ray roared.

Yes, your majesty Bailey said fearfully.

Now that settles it. Whats next? Ray asked putting a warm

smile on his face again.

Everyone was lying on the ground after the long walk. They

were all tired and Iwan understand that but they are in a

mortal danger here. He had no choice but to force them to

work.

Buckle up everyone we have to start working now. Iwan said.

Boo! Milo discouraged him.

Iwan felt heat rising on his cheeks. Milo is getting way over the

limits. He sure was a member of Rays gang and it would do Iwan

no good messing with them but here Milo didnt have much who

can back him up. But still he is acting like the boss. Milo is a

pain in his back.

Shut up Milo! I know you wanna lead them. Go ahead lead

them. Make sure we win tomorrow. And stay alive in the night. I

have no doubt Ray would be already working with all his force

on his isle. Do the same. Iwan said to Milo.

Now that got Milosattention. He sure wants to become a good

leader. If get on the good books of the TV producers, he thinks

his life would be set. How sad he thinks he will win and get out

of here alive, Iwan thought.

Milo got up and with clap shouted; Now everyone get up. Alex

and I here will divide the work between us all and then we will

start working. Of course the one who will do the most work

today will get extra items from the reward we will get

tomorrow.

It was amazing how the idea of extra reward brought everyoneon his or her feet. Iwan was angry with himself now. If Milo

turned out to be better organizer, than him it will give Milo

even more benefit and he will not let it happen. He knew that

no one else would even try to become the leader. Not even

Edward or Albert. Milo will find only him as the competitor that

is why it is so important for him to prove himself better than

Milo.

And exactly what is this work you are talking about? Iwan

asked trying to prove Milo an ignorant leader.

Um... I think one would be the field of building and one would

be of Milo started thinking hard.

Milos face was red with rage now. He walked angrily toward

the ocean. Iwan could not resist one last tempt, where are yougoing? We have got work to do.

Some kids started laughing a little that got Milo even angrier

but seeing his post of leader in danger he let go of his anger

and walked towards the raw material. Iwan got the upper hand

today. If he keeps this up, he will become the leader soon. He

is satisfied for today.

Night had fallen and everyone was celebrating for the great

shelter they had built. It wasnt bad really, far from it, it was

actually good but Aaron was not celebrating. He was sharpening

his spear. He had found a very sharp rock and had bounded it to

a strong stick to make his personal spear. All the other sharp

spears were there with him too. The tents were divided into

two areas. Female one was below ground and male one was

above in the hill of Ghouls isle. Aaron was alone on the hill

sharpening his spear while everyone was celebrating below inthe dining hall. He wasnt celebrating because he was not over-

confident like others that they will win. However, the bigger

reason was that his life would be at stake tonight. In the name

of defense, Kenny had designed a stupid small fence made from

bamboo. It would not hold the huge wolfs. It was never clarified

but there were rumors that the bones of the Wolfs were made

of metal. Sharp metal to be exact. He had planned to kill one

or two tonight and get the metal for better weapons.

Sometime later he was still near the weapon rock. That was

what Andre had named it where Aaron did the weapon making.

He saw the boys coming up the hill. Girls were down preparing

for sleeping. Aaron had thought really long about the future. He

knew he would not be a pawn. He has to uncover the truthabout the enchanted woods and the games but the question was

how? That was when his gaming mind took over. He had faced

many situations like this in his virtual gamer. He gaming mind

was already planning the next move and waiting for the right

time.

Hey Aaron still working on your weapons? Hey that is a real

sharp thing. Said Alex pointing to the spear. He was first to

make it to the boys area.

Yeah I plan to make it my personal spear. He replied.

No one will argue about that except Milo perhaps. Alex said,

dude I am sorry for the things Milo said earlier to you. I havealready apologized with Iwan.

No need man. You dont have to apologize, you didnt do

anything. Aaron said.

Yeah but it is the ray gang. We are the ray gang here, Milo and

waiting for the Wolfs. They will attack tonight and Aaron will

not face them unprepared.

A sudden howling brought Aaron on his feet. Another howljoined the howling and in a moment, the howls had filled the

night. The Wolfs had come.

Aaron saw the girls coming out of their tents looking scared.

Their legs were shaking. Only Maddie stood determined with a

spear in her hand. The boys came out and joined Aaron. They

were looking nervous. Now that the moment of doom hadcome, no one felt confidence in Kennys fence, not even Kenny.

Iwan was trying to look fearless but he was too feeling very

nervous. Aaron was not scared; he had waited for this moment

for hours. Now it had come, he will not let the Wolfs get away

without getting his hands on the metal. Never.

We shouldnt have left girls below near the woods. The Wolfs

will come from below. Albert said.

It was your idea you stupid. You said that the Wolfs would

come above ground to get as near to moon as possible. That

was why I decided to make boys area above. How will they

protect themselves? They are only five, that to inexperienced.I am getting a feeling that tomorrow we wont be a team of

seventeen members. Iwan said. Aaron can see the look of

hopelessness on his face. It was true, they will not be

seventeen tomorrow.

A wolf came into view; the girls will not be able to see him but

from above Aaron could see an outline of it.

Here it comes! Albert shouted trying to warn the girls but

failed. There was no hope for them now. There will be ruthless

slaughter tonight.

Two more wolfs were visible behind the first one. There were

total of three wolfs now. The first one was nearing the clearingnow. The movement of the bushes warned the girls. Maddie

place her spear diagonally in a way so that the head was facing

towards the bushes.

A wolf leapt from the bushes straight at Maddie. Everything

seems to move in a slow motion for Aaron. The girls screamed

the boys held their breaths; Maddie dropped her spear incomplete fear. The wolf will kill her in a matter of seconds,

then the other girls will die, then it will come for the boys, for

of the games.

Aaron felt adrenaline flow into him. He never felt something

like this before. It felt like he was on fire. In a matter ofseconds when the wolf was in the air to kill Maddie, Aaron

gripped his spear and launched it in the air. Without taking

perfect aim or checking the air. He just threw it. All the

sharpening Aaron had done before paid off. The spear moved

unbelievably fast cutting air faster than an eagle. The wolf was

very far away for even the best spear-thrower but the spear hit

the wolf in the chest. The wolf collapsed in front of Maddie asshe screamed, but Aaron did not waited for surprised looks or

cheers. He ran taking two spears with him. He ran faster than

he ever ran. Friction also helped him to run fast. He was in the

mid-way to reach the girls before the second wolf leaped.

Aaron threw his spear but not for even a second he slowed

down. The spear hit the second wolf in the chest too. The

second wolf fell beside the first wolf. Everyone except Aaron

was like a statue now. Aaron was still running like a lunatic

with a spear in his hand.

He almost reached the girls when the third and the final wolf

jumped from the bushes aiming at Katharine this time. Aaron

gives a one last boost, jumped and skidded towards Katharine.

He reached in front of the wolf just in time. He saw the deadly

fangs of the wolf. It was very huge than an earth wolf and it

was blue in color. Aaron placed the spearhead towards the wolf

and the wolf landed straight at the spear. The sharp head of

spear sank into the flesh of the wolf spreading its blood all over

Aaron and then it collapsed on Aaron pushing him into theground.

No one moved or spoke for a very long time. Everyone was in

complete shock. They thought that they were dead but here

the Wolfs lay dead on the one who killed them alone. Finally,

Aaron broke the eerie silence.

Help anyone! I am suffocating here.

Maddie recovered first and started the move the wolf but it was

much heavier for her alone to move. Other girls joined her but

it was still not moving. The boys were running down to help the

girls move the huge body of the wolf. Maddie came near

Aarons ear and whispered with tears in her eyes, Thank you.

Aaron waited until the boys reached him. One by one as they

come, they joined to move the wolf. It took all the five girls

and four boys to move the wolf away from Aaron. Aaron stood

up feeling very tired. Every single kid had surrounded him now.

Hip! Hip shouted Dan.

Hurray! shouted every one after Dan.

Hurray!

The chant continued for a while and Aaron, for the first time

felt that he just might survive if he does as he had planned. He

couldnt believe himself what he had just done right now. He

had just killed three huge, blue wolfs all alone.

Ray was on his bed waiting. He could not sleep before he washundred percent sure he was safe from the Wolfs. With Baileys

unmatchable designs not only, they had made an awesome

shelter but a hard- deadly defense. They had built a fence from

tree logs. A think wooden structure now surrounded the Bones

isle. Deadly sharp logs were bounded diagonally so that, their

sharp heads were facing the woods. Bailey had said that the

Wolfs will ran straight towards the fence thus, killingthemselves. Ray was waiting for the sound of the Wolfs killing

themselves.

He suddenly heard a loud howling. His heart raced, the Wolfs

were coming. One by one, the howls filled the night. Ray was

about to run away when he heard a loud thump! sound. It

followed by many other same sounds. The fence was working!The Wolfs were dying! Bailey was great and Carl was right, with

Baileys designing, they will win this round.

Chapter 4

Ray and gang were waiting for the next instruction so that they

can hear what they wanted. They were sure they are going tohear it. What they wanted to hear was- and the winner is

Team Bones.

I am getting sick of waiting. When are they going to come? No

message, no man in black, nothing. Said an impatient John.

John was a loyal friend, Ray knew that much by now but this is

not a place to make friends. Here, you make allies then stabthem when the time is right. Ray understands that so did Andy.

If Ray has to say a name, which he can actually call friend, it

would be Andy. Andy is so much like himself. Both of them are

born-bullies and can survive almost anything. That is why both

of them had decided that they would not kill each other. They

will take their chances in the race.

Maybe they are judging the shelter of the rivals first? Goldie

said.

Fat Goldie did not know anything. He is a stupid kid who is in

his team only because he can look dangerous sometimes.

Shut your big mouth! No one told you to speak. Andy saidangrily.

Sorry. Goldie replied nervously.

Did you hear that? Jackie said.

Ray concentrated to hear what Jackie meant. He could hear a

faint sound. It was the sound of boat! The boat has finallycome.

As the sound of boat grew louder, remaining kids came near the

shore. Everyone had a look of confidence in them. They knew

they would win no matter what. As the boat came to a stop,they could see the man in black.

Follow me! barked Ray.

The man in black followed him without uttering any word. Hequickly examined few things and did not even look at some.

After a quick tour of ten minutes, the man in black came

towards his boat. He stopped before going to the deck and

faced the kids.

You have done an excellent job. It really gives a feel of exotic

settlement. Hats-off to your skills. The man in black saidwithout any enthusiasm.

Moreover, reach the playing grounds in about three hours.

There the winner team would be announced and further

instruction will be given. The man in black continued and went

to his boat.

Aaron woke up to find himself lying in his tent. No, wait! it wasnot his tent. How did he end up here? He wondered. Then he

remembered about last night. The Wolfs, the spear, the

incredible spear throwing he had done and the heavy weight of

the blue wolf. What a night it had been, Aaron thought smiling.

Then he remembered the metal! How can he forget that? He

remembered how tired he was that he had fallen asleep almost

immediately after everyone had pulled him away from the wolf.

What if someone had already disposed-off the bodies? How will

he get the metal then? He raced out of the tent to find himself

below ground. The sun was shining brightly and everyone was

near the dining place. Dan caught his eye and shouted,

everyone! Aaron is awake.

Everyone moved to look at Aaron, their expressions a mixture of

joy and admiration.

Hail the mighty wolf slayer! Andre yelled.

Hail! shouted some boys.

Dan ran towards Aaron and hugged him, you showed those uglycreatures dude. I was really scared last night.

I will never let anyonehurt you friend. Aaron replied smiling.

Others also had come near him by now. Iwan gave him a quick

salute and Andre picked him up.

Whoa dude let me down. Aaron said laughing.

by the loud sound of boat.

The boat is here guys. Its the judgment time. Kenny said

Everyone came near the shore to find the man in black standing

on the deck. For a second Aaron thought they will be given a

feast like before but the massive LUNCH board was missing.

The boat stopped and the man in black stepped out.

Participants I am here to judge your work you have done in thelast twenty four hours. The man in black said.

I will guide you. Iwan said.

The man in black followed Iwan silently. His face did not betray

any emotion. He did not even go above hill. After what seemed

like five minutes he went back to his boat and said to the kids,the judging will take place in about one hour at the playing

grounds. Your maps mark it as PG. I suggest you to depart

immediately.

No time for wasting. You heard him, we should get moving if

speaking to give a dramatic moment. He was very happy with

his work. The ratings of first day had been so high that it had

already surpassed the previous highest ratings of the last game

master. Of course, all the credit goes to the boy Aaron. He haddone the unbelievable. Sander was a little worried about it too.

The velocity at which the first spear had moved was much more

than what someone like Aaron could achieve. It was an

incredible shot. So far had been the target. And the target was

moving too, yet the boy had managed it. Then again, as long as

he is getting his ratings he does not have to worry about these

things. In the end, the boy will too, like the others will die.

Participants, first of all I want to congratulate you for your

work last night. Both the teams survived without any

casualties. Sander said.

True. Bones team is in one piece too. I think we are going to

lose. Dan said to Aaron.

Cheer up dude, the judging will be done on the basis of our

shelter not how we survived last night. Aaron said mildly.

I wish it would be on the basis of surviving. We would have

won in that case without a doubt. Look at Rays face, he is so

confident. Dan said.

isle turned a face of sadness. This lose did not matter much to

Aaron, after all even if the Ghouls had won, he would not have.

Sander said to team Ghouls with a look of disappointment.

Iwans face turned red with embarrassment. He thinks he is

responsible of their losing, Aaron realized.

Now for the reward. Sander smiled, the winners will be

rewarded with food Sander let the word sank in, medics and

iron swords. He finished.

Iron swords? We lost iron swords? Aaron said panicking.

Yeah dude and medics too. We are gonna need medics here.

Dan put in ignoring Aarons panic.

He lost real iron swords? Aaron could not believe this. Now it

seems that only he had lost. He had lost iron swords.

Now now, no need for crying my Ghouls. There will be wins

Sander said holding a metal band, you have to wear it on yourwrists at all times. By pressing the red button, a virtual screen

map. Thanks to Aaron, we have the bodies of wolf. We can use

the meat as food and the bones, which my friend Henry here

says if made of metal. We can sell these bones at the trade

centre for money and from the money, we can buy medics and

other things. Hows my idea? Iwan asked looking at everyone.

Do you think we will get enough money for the bones? Kenny

asked.

I dont know, I guess we have to find out. Iwan replied.

Kenny nodded twice and the other kids nodded with their

agreements but Aaron was not happy with it. The metal was

his. They cannot sell it.

Wait a minute! We cannot sell the metal. Aaron blurted out.

Why? Iwan asked.

Because, I want to use it for constructing weapons. Aaron

replied.

Aaron, you have done a great job with spears but we cantlet

you have all the metal. We need other supplies right now not

weapons. When we get enough money I will let you buy all the

weapons you want. Iwan said.

Aaron again felt like someone or something was watching him.He pressed the red button on his band to see if anything is

going on but it showed Milo and Edward packing to leave.

Aaron went to his weapon stone and started examining the

band. What if it had some sort of tracking device? He had to

find out otherwise he would remain a pawn of CRYSTAL.

With help of the tip of his spear, he started opening the band.

After what felt like an hour he found something inside which

looked like a tracker. He had been right! They are using this

band as a mean of tracking them. He put the tracker in his

pocket and closed the band to wear it again. Now it was time toinitiate the plan but he cantdo it in front of everyone. He had

to find a diversion.

Aaron went downhill toward the woods carrying his spear with

him. If he were going to find a diversion, it would be in the

woods.

Aaron was about to step into the woods when he felt immense

fear. The hair on his neck stood up. In the thicket, he saw two

bright red balls of light. No, wait! Itsnot light. They were not

lights. They were bright red eyes. Aaron stood paralyzed from

fear. The eyes advanced towards him slowly to reveal huge

fangs and a wolfish red face. Aaron realized he stood in front of

a red wolf. This wolf was not stupid like the blue ones to run

into his spear. Aaron without hesitation knew that this creature

in front of him is clever. It had hidden itself in the woods and

waited. It did not attack at the night when everyone was

prepared. As the realization entered Aaron, he realized that it

was the wolf Aaron had felt watching him before.

The wolf was ready to attack. Aaron had to win his fear else, he

is dead. At that moment, another thought took place in Aarons

mind. What if this wolf had already attacked Milo and Edward?

Are they dead? It did not matter now because soon he would be

dead too but he will not go without a fight. Then again, how

will he fight if he remains paralyzed from fear? Aaron forced his

body to move. The wolf had come out of the woods now, intothe open. It was slowly moving towards Aaron. Never taking its

eyes off Aarons. With a shock, Aaron realized that the eyes

were responsible for paralysis. They were kind of hypnotizing

his brain so that his body will not move. Only if Aaron can avert

his gaze. He heard Dan shout, run Aaron! but his friend did

not know that Aaron couldntrun.

From his peripheral vision, Aaron saw a leaf falling from a tree.

A slow breeze was taking the leaf towards Aaron. How

miserable was that fallen leaf. It could not even control itself,

just like himself. The leaf came near Aaron. It was over the

wolfs head now. As the leaf came in between the predator and

prey, the breeze stopped. The leaf started falling down, itcame near the head level, and it reached the eyes. It covered

wolfs eyes from the view for a matter of second but it was all

Aaron needed. He quickly averted his gaze to the ground. Aaron

was not paralyzed any more. He saw the leaf fell down on to

the ground. He silently thanked it. The wolf realizing that its

spell had failed quickly leapt at Aaron for a killing blow.However, Aaron wasnt scared now. Like last night, he placed

the spear at the wolfs chest but the wolf smacked the spear

with its paw and the spear fell down.

Aaron had to do something now. The wolf had landed some

inches away from Aaron because of the decreased velocity

caused by smacking the spear. It was ready to kill Aaron again.Aaron was weaponless now. He heard some footsteps behind

him. His friends were coming to save him but they will never

reach him in time.

As the wolf jumped, Aaron skidded below it trying to buy his

friends as much time as he can. Fortunately, the plan

succeeded. The wolf was behind him now. As the wolf turned

toward Aaron, he rolled sideways towards his spear but because

of poor timing, Aaron ended up above his spear.

The wolf saw the helpless figure lying on the ground. As the

creature leapt one last time to make the final blow, a long stickof wood and stone emerged from under the helpless figure. Too

late, the wolf realized it had made the same mistake its

wolf jump again. Aaron realized that the wolf did not know that

tip. Blood sprayed on Aarons face and the wolf collapsed on

Aaron. Aaron felt huge weight pushing him down. This wolf was

much heavier than the previous one but it was not what was on

Aarons mind at that moment. He had killed another wolf all

alone. He was getting better at this but today he had survived

only because of the leaf that was nowhere to be found now. It

had done its work.

Everyone reached Aaron now. Again, they saw the wolf slayer

lying under the wolf he had killed. As Iwan and the others

started to pull Aaron, they find that the combined strength of

seven boys was not enough.

Everyone help! Iwan shouted. Everyone started pulling Aaron

but failed.

Itstoo heavy we cantdo this. Henry said.

No, no, no, we have to pull Aaron out. Iwan said thinking

deeply. Aha! I got it. Everyone, into the woods now! Collect asmany bamboos or strong but thin logs as you can. Hurry up

Everyone nodded and disappeared into the woods. Now Iwan

and Aaron were alone on the ghouls isle. Aaron knew it was thediversion he was looking for. He had to send Iwan away.

Hey Iwan, I need some water. Aaron said.

Okay, here it is. Iwan said giving Aaron his water skin.

No, no, not this, I need my water skin. I have filled it with the

juice of some leaves. Aaron lied.

What do the leaves do? Iwan asked.

It had glucose in them. Aaron replied lamely.

Iwan raised his eyebrow then nodded once and ran uphill to

fetch Aaronswater skin.

Aaron pushed the spear away from the Wolfs body and started

ripping the creature open. He found the bones of metal inside

the creaturesbody. As he ripped more of its body, he felt the

weight on him lessen. In the center of wolfs body Aaron found

a piece of red metal. No, correct that, it was a red blade. It

was like specially made that way. Perfectly sharpen edge; its

lower side was smooth enough to work as a handle. It was long

enough to make a sword. It was not a straight blade but it had

curves here and there. It was something from Aarons dreams.

With the help of his newfound sword, he started cutting the

Wolfs body. When he thought he could move away, he pushed

himself away from the pieces of the red wolfs body to find that

he can easily slide away.

Aaron noticed that he was a mess. Full of blood and he smelled

of meat. Now for the plan, Aaron thought. With the other side

of his spear, he wrote something on the sand. He took his

spear, sword, map and Iwanswater skin. From his pocket, he

took out the tracker and threw it into the woods. He was stillwearing his band. Even without the tracker, it worked all right.

With all these things, he picked up a small piece of wolfs body

and put them in a bag. He hung the bag on his shoulders, in one

hand he carried a spear and in another his sword. He ran

straight into the woods.

As Iwan returned with Aarons water skin, he found that

everyone had returned from the woods. Some wooden sticks

were lying on the ground. As he neared the place of action, he

saw everyone look at him and started murmuring among each

other.

WheresAaron dude? Dan asked him.

Below the wolf? Iwan replied confused. As Iwan reached the

dead body of the wolf, he saw some pieces of meat lying here

and there. His water skin and Aaron were missing from the

scene. As he looked at the right of the spoiled body, he saw

something written on the sand. It said
