The Women in Black had a primary and secondary target audience.

A primary target audience is who the film is originally aimed at. For the women in black this was teenagers and young adults as this group

of society is not only the most into horror films but they would have either grown up with Daniel Radcliff or grown up watching him from a very early age. This would be the films primary target audience as this age group not only tends to like horror films but they might also want

to see how well Daniel Radcliff is as an actor.

A secondary target audience is who the film catches as viewer or are potential viewers. For the women in black this would be the mature

adults or the middle age members of society that are likely to be middle class as these people have either read the book or seen the stage play.

TARGET AUDIENCE

Page 3: The Woman in Black (Watkins, 2012)

The Women in Black was marketed by using lots of different platforms and to lots of different potential audiences. For example, the marking was aimed at people that like

horror especial super natural or ghost horror. As The Women in Black is a super natural ghost horror as would appeal most to people tat like this genre of film.

The primary target audience is young adults and teenagers this is why a heavily used media platform used by The Women in Black is the web as that is were young people

spend a lot of their time and where it is therefore easiest to grab their attention.

The other places where marketing was prominent is Television trailers of the film, promotions of theatre tickets also bill boards and other places that contain space for large posters such as bus stops this was done in order to capture the films secondary audience of mature adults and middle aged people these places would aim to catch their attention

on their way to and from work.

In my personal opinion I think that The Women in Black marketers used the appropriate marketing material for the film because the marketing material that they used managed to catch both their primary and secondary audience attention in order to make them go and

watch the film I also believe this had a lot to do with the success of the film.
