A few colonists were shot and killed after British soldiers were threatened

Groups of people who were against the King, they formed a resistance

A time where there were new ideas in the ways of life and in government

Taking privately owned land and making it useful to the public by the government
First Great Awakening
A spiritual movement where there was public preaching and such

King and Queen do not have complete control, there is usually another party involved

Stopped king from taxing and took some of his power away

Laws that oversee affairs between people and or entities

Viewpoint that government has little power and more individual liberty
Criminal Laws
Deal with crime and give consequences for breaking the law
Delegates
Representatives that nominate candidates for president and vice president
Fines
An amount of money you pay to the government in for minor offences instead of going to jail… ex. parking ticket
Glittering Generalities
A saying that is sentimental to a large group of people
Informed Electorate
A person who votes in an election
Jury Duty
Taking part in a court case, the people who decide the fate of a defendant in a criminal case
Liberal
Viewpoint where someone is active in there government and community, and want to solve problems in society.
Majority Vote
Candidate must receive at least half of the votes
Plurality Vote
The candidate receives the greatest number of votes than any other candidate
Slander
An untrue statement made about someone to hurt there reputation
