Ghana - SDG Awareness Campaign
World Merit Ghana has hosted many events to engage Ghanaian youth in the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The organised workshops have reached all areas of their country and there are many events still being delivered. On April 16th 2016, World Merit members from other countries joined an event in Accra that has mobilized over 200 young Ghanaians into action. Written feedback from these events state that attending individuals are excited to be part of a constructive movement for change.
Iraq - Highlight Inequality
Challenged by World Merit HQ to host an event that
either showcases merit or highlights inequality, three of our community members in Baghdad translated our literature into Arabic and filmed themselves
passing it out in a market place. They spoke to a large group about how the people of Iraq needed to start working with the rest of the world to rebuild their economy and standing. There is an ever deepening reservoir of untapped young talent and diversity. Whilst disenfranchised and dangerous actions spill over from the edges we are here to be a pipeline for volume opportunities and flow
global youth into being collaborative and constructive. Our community convenes both online and offline.
1. BUILDing A global community for change
Target
We are looking to quickly move from 100,000 to 1 million registered members representing every country by 2018. These are to be visible activists for the Sustainable Development Goals.
Budget required
$300,000 is needed to build an engaging World Merit mobile app.
$700,000 is needed to build version three of our community platform and improve functionality and speed. There will be ongoing costs of employing a tech development team.
Target
We are looking to have an active Country Council in 150 countries by 2018, with
Country Council Presidents who know their responsibilities and manage active City Chapters in every major city.
Budget required
$2,250,000 is needed to provide start-up funds and marketing budget for 150 Country Council Presidents and their country fundraising teams. This team is crucial to extending and selling opportunities to global youth, many of which will be revenue generating.
Offline
We have already built an important worldwide network of country and city chapters with volunteer offices in 119 countries and 21
established country councils. This enables us to have unique reach and we intend to quickly grow and strengthen this important network.
OnlineOur version two bespoke social media platform connects members across beliefs and borders. It helps frame communication and ideas for the Sustainable Development Goals and showcases engaging actions and opportunities.

2. A RANGE OF accessible OPPORTUNITIES
World Merit are growing a portfolio of opportunities including jobs, internships, conferences, cultural exchange programs, mentoring, and other initiatives that help build confidence, raise aspiration, and grow
revenue that supports our delivery.
To earn key opportunities a World Merit member has to show their merit to be eligible. This way we can have tens of thousands of small actions inspired by a sole opportunity. Confidence is grown and value shows itself
clearly on the resume of each individual.
Target
To run a key annual campaign to identify the World Merit Global President (WMGP). This highly prized opportunity has inspired over 160,000 young global citizens to demonstrate their merit. We know this inspires membership and profile for World Merit.
To deliver a unique opportunity on a monthly basis. Winning a challenge may mean mentoring from Richard Branson or an internship on Wall Street, but the real value is bringing thousands to our community and to the idea of being activists for social good.
To have accessible opportunities for every World Merit member. These are to be aligned to a meaningful purpose and the Sustainable Development Goals. These opportunities are to be revenue generating.
Budget requirements
$90,000 is needed for the World Merit Global President campaign 2016. This is a key sponsorship opportunity.
Unique and exciting opportunities including internships, jobs, meetings with high profile figures, cultural exchange
ideas, and others may be provided as in-kind sponsorship. See examples
A donation or investment in World Merits
marketing budget would help us grow and engage 1 million young activists in the coming years, a goal we share with the United Nations.

Merit360 is to be the worlds most prestigious gathering of diverse global youth who come together to tackle
complex global issues. They will build an Action Plan, present it to the United Nations, then implement it. We are to host a Merit360 program on every continent each year and have this key opportunity be a beacon of inclusive and collaborative action. It is the loudest rally call for the Sustainable Development Goals.
The three components of Action Plan 001 are:
3. the Flagship Program: Merit360
How we plan to have every
young person on the planet understand and engage in
the SDGs.
How we best support
existing projects and ideas to ensure we tackle issues
in partnership.
How we will implement and
scale the adopted projects and ideas of World Merit members
for maximum impact.
Target:
Operate five Merit360 programs per year. With thousands of people working hard to prove their merit and earn a place on Merit360, hitting this target would mean that we would be a leading global force in engaging young people as activists and citizens. It would also mean the creation and scaling of thousands of SDG focused projects. Running five Merit360 programs per year would mean annual revenue for this program exceeding $2,500,000 from World Merit members.
Budget requirements:
$1,000,000 in fundraising is needed to secure and enhance the first run of
Merit360. In conjunction with money raised by program participants, this $1,000,000 from supporters will help to establish the Merit360 program as the worlds most prestigious and
diverse opportunity for global youth.

THE FIVE NEXT STEPS TO CHANGE THE WORLD
1. Develop the offline teams & SDG activists
2. Develop the online platform
3. Develop opportunities
World Merit is a network of global citizens who are fighting to
tackle the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and earn opportunities that match their potential. The positive actions taken in our community build confidence, aspirations, skills, competence
and trust. Our online platform connects young global citizens and provides a place to debate on global issues, collaborate on projects and showcase impact.
These are our five next steps to change the world, and the areas
where we need your support:
Country Councils, City Chapters and SDG
teams come together to grow World Merit
and tackle the SDGs.
-
25
5. scale merit360
4. develop projects for sustainable development goals
Data to be shared and connected with partners and other youth movements.
Merit points as a global currency that rewards positive actions with opportunities across
different organisations.
Our positive opportunities can divert the recruitment of youth into less productive and dangerous directions.
All actions and opportunities are
directly linked to and impact the Sustainable
Development Goals.
This inaugural program (launched in 2016) will
take place in every continent every year,
where members vote to bring it to their country.
Our Country Councils show that having youth take responsibility for
local and global issues is contagious.
Building sustainable projects in coordination with local organisations and city chapters is one
of our key objectives.
