What do you show?

• There are a variety of animals that are available to show in the livestock world depending on your interests.

Maybe you like large animals?

• If you just so happen to enjoy dealing with larger animals, the opportunity to show cattle, sheep, pigs, and goats is available. There’s even a show that allows you to show your horse in a few shows.

Or Maybe You Choose To Stay Small?

• Small animals may be your interest, but don’t worry, there are equal opportunities to fulfill your needs. Many participants show rabbits and chickens.

If Not Show, Then Maybe Judge?

• So maybe you like the animals, but don’t have the opportunity to have the animals at your house? That’s okay, there is a thing out there just for you. Livestock Judging is a great way to still be around the animals. In Livestock Judging, you are given a group of four individual animals, and place them in order from best to worst.

Rangeland Judging

• You might enjoy the outdoors, and maybe you are familiar with the plants. Rangeland Judging is when you identify plants and evaluate sites to fit the owners designated quality for cattle and bobwhite quail. The plant vary from grasses, to legumes, to forbs, and woodies.

Commercial Cattle Grading

• In Commercial Cattle Grading, the agriculture students judge what the frame size of a beef animal is. They are to estimate the amount of body fat, how much the animal weighs, and how the weight of the animals carcass will weigh in slaughter.

Ag Communication Speeches

• There is also a competition for all you writing junkies out there. The world of agriculture consists of many different types of literature. Many speeches are given over some type of conservation practice that will create a better environment, although there are other areas of the speech category.

Greenhouse

• Maybe plants are your thing, but guess what? We’ve got that covered too. Plants are a huge part of agriculture. The aesthetic and healthful uses for plants are everywhere, and a majority of these are started out in greenhouses. In the greenhouse, the plants are kept warm and moisturized to assure the maximum health of the plants

Agriculture Mechanics

• Last but not least, is the world agriculture mechanics. In ag mechanics, the students learn their way around the foundation of things. They learn to use tools, and build all kinds of neat and useful things. You may build anything from tree stands to smokers.
