Welcome To The annual GloBal soluTions summiT Welcome to the Global Solutions Summit in Berlin! We are glad to have you here. In the next two days you will participate in a programme with outstanding speakers from think tanks, academia, politics, business and society. In addition to these policy thinkers and policy makers, we are proud to have again many Young Global Changers at the summit to provide the perspective of the next generation. We would like to thank everyone who is contributing to the conference, be it as speaker, moderator or participant. Our summit takes place at an important time. The world appears to be sliding into ever-greater disorder – regional conflicts with potentially worldwide repercussions, global challenges of climate change, financial in-stabilities, biodiversity loss, digitalization disruptions, and a fraying political discourse within and between nations. Although the economies of the world are largely integrated, the societies and polities remain fragmented.

This is the challenge we have to address – here in Berlin over the next days, in Buenos Aires, where the T20 and G20 Summits will take place and there-after in Japan, responsible for the next G20 Presidency.

At the same time, each problem has the potential to be the starting point for building a better world. Global problems require global solutions. Trans-national threats can become arenas that motivate us to find new forms of international co-operation. The fact that the Global Solutions Summit gathers more than 1,000 participants from over 100 countries, from diffe-rent sectors of society, working together in a fair and optimistic spirit, is an encouraging signal. The Global Solutions Summit 2018 ignites the impulse to action in many participants, thereby contributing a constructive and co-operative approach to global problem-solving.

We thank the Argentinian T20 organizers and the Argentinian G20 policy makers for their excellent collaboration in 2018. And we thank all our part-ners who make this summit possible.

We hope that you will have an exciting and inspiring time at the Global Solutions Summit.
