The Yaccino Family…

Life in the Church…

“Missio Dei” - God’s Mission

What is God’s Mission for the World?

The Kingdom of God has broken into the world with Christ the King. The Kingdom is

here, now among us, the followers of Jesus…

Contrasting Kingdoms…The Kingdom of God vs. the Kingdom

of this world

The consequences of the fall…

Sin permeates all of life as we know it… Broken relationships, broken systems, domination, violence,

degradation, exploitation, disparity, discrimination… all flow from the Adamic logic that came through the fall

CHRIST came to save and restore everything that was broken by Sin

The community of faith represents the Alternative,

Distinct and Attractive

community in this broken and separated world…

“Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your

mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect

will.”Romans 12:2

“If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth and the

truth will set you free”John 8:32

“I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again.”

John 3:3

“I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit”

John 3:5

“From now on, therefore, we regard no one from a worldly point of view; even though we once knew Christ from a worldly point of view, we know him no longer in that way. So if anyone is in Christ,

there is a new creation: everything old has passed away; see, everything has become new!”

2 Corinthians 5:16-17

The Local Church as participants in God’s Restorative Mission

Ecclesia:“The called out ones…”

“Ambassadors of Christ and His Kingdom”

Colossians 1:17-20 He is before all things, and in him all things hold

together. And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy. For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.

Colossians 3:14-16And over all these virtues put on love,

which binds them all together in perfect unity.

Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace.

The Church…

Revealing God’s reign on as signs of the Kingdom

The Church…Reveals the Kingdom by:

our love for one another…our love for our neighbors…

seeking justice…Living in community…

Worshiping: in how we live who we are and through our service all which fuel our hymns and “liturgy”

Being God’s primary instrument of Reconciliation & transformation

The Church…Is integral when all of the below are

interwoven and practiced in the collective life in Christ:

Discipleship, Compassionate service, Evangelism, Community, Worship

and Prophetic voice

How do our churches understand God’s mission?Salvation?

How does that understanding shape our ministry?

In what ways do you feel the world has been pulled over our eyes to blind us from the truth of God’s

Kingdom? At home?

With family?With friends?

At work?With colleagues?

At church?

Are our Churches actively revealing the Kingdom?

If not…

What are we revealing?
