Gone With the Wind Rally Texas Gulf Coast Unit 103 WBAC The Yellow Rose... January 2017 - Newsletter Mary Watermann President y first newsletter as President of our unit, Texas Gulf Coast. The installation rally was beautiful thanks to Nova Fleming and her wonderful host group. It is an honor to serve as your president, my only hope is that I live up to your expectations. This office is nothing without the support of the members, I ask your help, I ask for your participation in our rallies, and we all know what that means, this News Orleans gal loves costumes! Let’s get this party started! Special thanks to Grady Ferry, Region 9 President for attending our installation rally. First lady Keith Ferry could not be with us, as she had a family commitment. I am sure Gene is relieved to step down from the office, but I’m sure that Judy is more relieved than Gene. Thank you both for your efforts! I would like to thank everyone for the donations to our Christmas boxes. Once again our members stepped up, to help the needy in our area. For making the deliveries thanks to members, the Richardson’s, the Kelley’s, the Rich’s, Dee Bryant, Lonna Nelson, and myself. I have participated in this effort to help the needy, during this Christmas season for three years now. I encourage each of you, to help out in the effort of delivering the boxes, it is humbling experience. Again I am happy to serve as your president, I am humbled by your overwhelming confidence in me as your leader. I was counting on my angel, Dennis to be at my side as your president. As I find my way in this new life without him, I sometimes need a little steering to keep me on track! JAN 12-15 HOSTS: YOUR 2017 OFFICERS M Mary

Our Christmas Food Boxes project just keeps getting better andbetter. Each year the generosity of our TGCU members blesses somany needy families in the Zavalla area. This year, I went to theZavalla Food Bank and was given the names of 15 families thatneeded our help to make their Christmas bright with a lot of gro-ceries. Everyone jumped into high gear with the wrapping of theboxes just before the rally..then on Monday following, we alljumped into Lonna Nelson’s “sleigh” and headed to Sam’s and Wal-Mart to fill the food boxes with items not already donated withgoodies.

The TGCU Christmas fund of just under $900 grew by an additional$800 allowing us to purchase each family a nice ham, lots of fruitand plenty of potatoes, peanut butter, crackers, etc..leaving us abalance of just over $800. I’m so proud of our unit. Paula Largentmade a trip to the Lufkin Candy company and picked up two casesof Chic-0-Sticks for a candy treat that was donated to our cause.

And when delivering the boxes we were all humbled by the needsthat we witnessed and by the blessing we received from beingable to give on behalf of all of you...All eyes lit up when each fam-ily was given a hand made quilt by TGCU member Jane Fudge. I’mso appreciative of everyone’s willingness to help...we had so muchfun. Thank You, Thank You...to everyone that helped.

Happy New year to everyone! ...RutheAnn and I are blessed to know each and everyone of

you and it is our prayer that everyone has a Prosperous and most of all healthy 2017.

Taking a look back to 2016...there were a lot of things that occurred at Texas Airstream Harbor. We’vehad a lot of new folks who have purchased a lot(s)..and have been working to make improvements inour park. Also in review we were finally able to repair some major road problems that occurred overthe past few years because of rain. Construction is still ongoing on a few streets with new residencesand cabana covers for our beloved Airstreams. Speaking of constructions, I would like to take this timeto remind anyone who is planning construction which involves moving dirt and pouring cement thatthere is a limit on the amount of material that can be brought into the park on a truck on our roads. That limit is: For dirt, you may bring in up to 5 yds of material per load. For cement that limit is 3 yds

per load. The main difference is in the weight ofthe delivery vehicle(s).

During our recent annual Membership meeting inDecember, the membership elected three folks toserve on the board. They are, Fred Richardson,Tommy Largent and Bill Pearson. The board alsoappointed our Treasurer, Mary Watermann to theboard to fill the un-expired term of Robert Pritch-ett.

A Special Presentation was made during the meet-ing with the dedication of 16 US Flags that will beplaced on lighted poles around the park on An-gelina street. The daughters of Bill & MeredithFitzgerald made the presentation to their dad

...and in memory of their mom because they know how much they loved Texas Airstream Harbor.Daughters Pam Pearson and Nancy Fitzgerald made the presentation on behalf of all 4 of the Fitzgeraldgirls.

The membership voted unanimously to raise the storage rate from $30.00 a month to $2.00 per day or$50.00 per month. Currently we have three trailers in storage with the possibility of two more thathave expressed an interest in leaving their trailers here during the winter and spring months.

As we go into the new year I am glad to report that Texas Airstream Harbor water has passed its latestcomprehensive inspection with only three issues that involve an update to our Operations Manual andneeded guidelines for placing a new water storage tank into operation. The updates have been madeand we are seeking information that will be needed for TCEQ compliance in regard to placing the stor-age tank in service. Speaking of water...after all was said and done, the water department actuallymade a small amount of money this past year.

An audit committee met with our CPA and all records were reconciled in accordance with standardbookkeeping rules and regulations. Thank you for a job well done to our Treasurer, Mary Watermann. Thanks are also in order again to Dana Kelley who stepped up to help Mary this past summer whileshe traveled.

About our Members: Morgan & Barbara Flournoy were recently honored at a morning coffee at theclubhouse. Morgan & Barbara will be leaving TAHI to new adventures as they have secured an apart-ment at Pinecrest in Lufkin. They moved over the holidays and asked that if anyone was in town tocome by and visit. Charles and Linda Kilgore also sold their cabana and lot as they are moving to Ker-rville, TX to be near their daughter. New members Ken & Ava Daniels purchased the Kilgore’s mem-bership lot and cabana. Member Nancy Fitzgerald just recently retired following 37 years teachingand guiding our children and grandchildren in the Texas Public schools system...a “Steak at the Lake”event was held to celebrate her milestone..Everyone was invited to bring something to cook on thegrille and enjoy a little TAHI hospitality.

A lot of guests are beginning to visit TAHI...(some return visitors as well as new folks). They are alwaysinvited to join in our fun as we make new friends in the Airstreaming family...If you see someone newin our park be sure and go by and welcome them...
