JEANNETTE KOSTER, ESQ. Jeannette Koster, an attorney with thirty years of experience, has opened a law office on Front Street in downtown Yorktown
Heights. She focuses on real estate, contracts, and commer-cial litigation, serving mainly small businesses.
Jeannette is well known in Yorktown. From 2010 to January 2016, she served as Town Attorney, counseling the Yorktown Town Board and town managers on a wide range of matters. In that position she drafted all of the Town’s goods, services and construction contracts, responded to legal disputes, interpreted and drafted zoning laws and other local laws, handled all real estate transactions in which the Town was a party, and prose-cuted in rem tax foreclosures. She successfully defended the Town in State Supreme Court in over twenty lawsuits, and represented the Town as well in federal court and the Yorktown Justice Court.
Jeannette earned an LL.M. degree in Environmental Law from Pace Law School and her J.D. from George Washington University Law School, where she was a
member of the Law Review. She graduated cum laude with a B.A. in English literature from the University of Pennsylvania. In 1985 she began her legal career in the corporate department of the Wall Street law firm of Winthrop, Stimson, Putnam & Roberts. She later served the City of New York as an attorney for the Department of Transportation, a litigator with the New York City Law Department, and as executive director of the New York City Loft Board. She has held many leadership positions in the communities in which she has lived and worked over the years, including chair of the New York City Bar Association’s Land Use, Planning & Zoning Committee, chair of the Mount Pleasant Conservation Advisory Council, and Vice President of the Yorktown Bar Association.
Jeannette is the proud mother of Noah, Daniel and Eliza, her 18-year old triplets. She enjoys playing tennis, read-ing, and operating heavy machinery.

Thank you to everyone who attended the 18th Annual Dinner Dance and Awards celebration on May 21 at Villa Barone. Each year we try our best to exceed the previous year and this year we did it again! From the cocktail hour to the Viennese table and all the entertainment in between it was a stellar night. Thank you to the dinner dance committee, our sponsors, House of Flowers, Breslin Realty and 3D Industrial Maintenance Corp.
Our 5th Annual Auto Show is on Saturday, May 6 at the Jack Devito Veterans Memorial Field right in the center of Yorktown. On display will be 2016-2017 models from dealers around the area. This year we have more vendors, children rides and a DWI crash simulator. It’s a great day for the whole family. We look forward to seeing many of you there.
We had a great turnout at our May 16 networking meeting at the Mohansic Grill and our breakfast networking meetings on the first Monday of each month (excluding July and August) are becoming a “must go to” stop. Remember to join us for breakfast on June 6th at 7:30. Our guest speaker will be Andy Perry
of Harvard Risk Management Corp. His topic will be “Identity Theft, the fastest growing crime in America today and what you can do to protect yourself.”
Every year we look forward to our Scholarship Dinner. This year we will be awarding scholarships to students in our local high schools culminating at a Scholarship Award Dinner on July 11 at Little Sorrento Restaurant. All donors will be invited to be our guests so it isn’t too late to send in a contribution to this worthwhile program.
And, sponsorship’s and vendor booths are going on sale this month for our 8th Annual Festival and Street Fair. Remember, first come, first served so make your reservations early. It will be here before you know it.
As always my door is open to all members with any concerns or suggestions.

THE YORKTOWN CHAMBER OF COMMERCE SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS Each year the Yorktown Chamber awards several scholarships to deserving
college bound seniors - and as always, we need your help!
We need you, our Chamber members, to recommend candidates who are college bound seniors with strong academic achievement and significant involvement in schools activities and community services. Candidates must have applied to or been accepted by an accredited college. We are limiting the search to young people with a connection to Yorktown and the Chamber. They must be at least one of the following: (i) the child or grandchild of a Chamber member, (ii) a resident of the Town of Yorktown, or (iii) enrolled at Yorktown High School, Walter Panas High School or Lakeland High School.
Even more important, we need your contributions! It is not too late to be a part of this drive. Any amount, no matter how small, will increase the number of scholarships we can give and the amount we have available to give deserving candidates. Once again we are excited to announce an additional scholarship, The Constance M. Petri Scholarship, funded by the Petri family, in the amount of $2,500.00. As an added incentive, all donors will be invited to be our guests at the Scholarship Awards Dinner on July 11, 2016 at Little Sorrento Restaurant.
CAN WE COUNT ON YOU? Please send your recommendations and your contributions to the Chamber as soon as possible.
