Welcome to BedazzleThe Bedazzle concept is designed tocomplement the Primary School curriculumwith performing arts training in drama, dance and song to students aged 6 – 11. It offers after-school courses run from school premises at the end of the school day. In addition, performing arts ‘workshops’ are provided during school holidays running from one to five days. Bedazzle students are also offered the opportunity to perform annually at a national theatre, usually at The Rhodes Arts Complex in Bishop’s Stortford and occasionally in London. Students also have the option to enter the accredited LAMDA (London Academy of Music & Dramatic Arts) Drama exams. These are held at our own exam centre. To date we have a 100% pass record, the majority at top ‘Distinction’ level. For the really ambitious, we also have a Children’s Casting Agency – the audition process is a great confidence-builder and we’ve achieved quite a few successes. The After-Schools course runs for 90-minutes (one day per week, ten weeks per school term). Students receive a free Bedazzle T-shirt. We issue regular Bedazzle Newsletters where parents will receive details outlining events during the year and a breakdown of costs for tickets to our spectacular Bedazzle shows (participation in shows is optional). In addition to theatre skills, performing arts training enable our students to grow in confidence, expand their communication and inspire creativity; life-skills that stay with them whatever paths they follow in life. Bedazzle staff are DBS checked, follow robust safeguarding procedures and all are professionals from the performing arts and media industries.

Kind regards...

The Bedazzle CourseEmerging from our Bedazzle Theatre Company, we developed our weekday Theatre School courses. Bedazzle is established across the region. The offer we make is: • Sessions covering key disciplines: Drama, Dance & Singing. • Fun way to keep fit. • Open to students aged 6 to 11. • Additional holiday ‘workshop’ courses. • Option to take accredited LAMDA Drama exams. • Perform in Bedazzle shows at professional theatres. • Option to audition to join the Bedazzle Casting Agency.

Weekday Theatre SchoolTypically, the 90-minute classes start at 3:20pm. so students come straight from their final lessons of the day. Students are supervised until collected, no student is allowed off school premises without the permission of their parents. We start with warm-ups and during the course, equal time is spent on the three key areas: Dance, Drama and Song. Each term culminates with

an open-class, this gives our students a goal and helps them develop teamwork. We also liaise with school teachers to allow, students to perform at school assemblies occasionally.

Holiday Workshops‘Workshops’ are available during the summer holidays. Our 5-day ‘Pop Schools’ and ‘Funky Fit’ are very popular and will be on offer every summer. ‘Pop School’ offers students the chance to pick songs, choreograph a routine and pose for a photo-shoot – culminating with a live performance for family and friends and a recorded CD, as a memento. ‘Funky-Fit’ is a dance/exercise

workshop where students devise routines and record to video. We also offer musical theatre workshops ‘Show-in-a-Week’,where students devise and rehearse for a live show.

In-School WorkshopsWe also deliver ‘standalone’ or curriculum-based one-day workshops during school time such as ‘International Day’, ‘Arts Day’, we can tailor the course content to individual school requirements.

Annual Variety Show The hi-light each year is our Bedazzle Variety Show, held at a local National Theatre. We bring together all our local Bedazzle Theatre School groups and for many students this is their first experience on a professional stage. The variety show includes drama pieces, song and dance the students have learned on the bedazzle course as well as extracts from their LAMDA exam entries.

Public PerformancesWe are often asked to perform at local events ranging from garden parties and school fairs to local theatre and carnivals. We embrace them as much as our students can manage and they inevitably attract local press attention too. It also allows us to contribute to various charities, especially the smaller, local charities that often get overlooked. Our students find it fulfiling that performing in public can have beneficial effects for others as well as for themselves.

Presentations At the end of each school term, we hold an open-class where family, teachers and friends are invited to view a class in action followed by a short performance. At least once a year, the class concentrates on their own show, typically of 30-minutes duration. Our termly Newsletters keep parents up-to-date with our projects and shows.

FAR RIGHT: Newsletters issued each term keep our parents up-to-date with our projects, timetables and events, including optional LAMDA Exam entry details (certificate shown here).

LEFT: For those who are really committed, there’s the opportunity to audition for our exclusive Casting Agency. The experience of auditioning for professional TV, film and stage shows is a great confidence-builder… and of course, we have the occasional successful placement!

BOTTOM: We often record our students’ performances on CD and DVD. This Christmas CD with songs exclusively written for Bedazzle, was very popular.
