Aristides Boutris (known as Ari) is a student of Patinka Kopec at the Manhattan School of Music and also studies with Ryoko Shimizu and Koichiro Harada in Tokyo during the summer months. Born and raised in Manhattan, 13-year-old Ari began his studies at the age of three and has played at various venues in Tokyo and New York. Born in South Korea, Haram Kim has studied under Ida Kava"an at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia since 2011. Haram began playing the violin at age six and went on to win many awards under his "rst mentor HaeYup Yang including the Kukmin Daily News National, Strad National and Yejin National Competition in Korea. His concert experience includes performances of the Wieniawski Violin Concerto No. 1 and the Paganini Violin Concerto No. 4 with the Sengham Philharmonic at the age of 10.

Fourteen year old Rennosuke Fukuda started playing the violin at age three, won his "rst violin award at the age of four and has appeared on many radio and television shows since. He won 1st prize and the “Virtuos” prize at the 15th Kloster Schöntal International Violin Competition in Germany in September 2013. Rennosuke studies with with Machie Oguri and donates much of his time to supporting worthy causes, including performing at in the 2013 UNESCO charity concert in Paris to commemorate the Great East Japan Earthquake.

Twelve-year-old Polish-born Antoni Ingielewicz won his "rst competition at the age of eight when he won 1st prize at the Third International Gathering of Young Violinists in Poland. Currently studying under Anna Podhajska at the Secondary Music School in Gdansk, Antoni has attended masterclasses with Maxim Vengerov, Zakhar Bron, Marek Moś, Krzysztof Smietana, Erki Palola, and Roland and Almita Vamos. When he is not playing his violin, Antoni enjoys Polish and foreign literature, cycling, skating and illustrative drawing.

Thirteen-year-old Emiri Kobayashi’s awards include the Grand Prix Prize at the 2008 International Junior Music Competition in Japan, 1st prize at the 10th Senzoku Gakuen International Music Competition in Tokyo in 2010, 1st prize at the Tateshina Music Competition in 2013, and a special prize at the All Japan Student Music Competition in Tokyo in 2013, where she was the youngest "nalist. Since the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake, Emiri has played as a soloist at charity concerts, supporting victims each year.

Born in Norway, Ludvig Gudim studies at the Barratt Due Institute of Music in Oslo and has participated in the Perlman Music Program in New York since summer 2013. Fifteen year old Ludvig has substantial soloist experience and has played in several countries, including the UK, Israel, Belgium, Vietnam and Norway. In 2012 Ludvig was chosen to perform a duet at a televised gala concert for the Norwegian King and Queen’s 75th anniversary. In 2013 he received a special award at the 7th International Louis Spohr Competition in Germany.

Studying at the Yewon Art School and Korean National Institute for the Gifted in Art, 14-year-old Donghyun Kim performed as a string quartet violin player at the Malaysian International Kids Culture and Art Festival in 2011 and played a recital sponsored by the Kumho-Asiana Culture Foundation in 2012. Donghyun has also participated in several international music camps including the Great Mountain Music Camp and the Busan Music Camp in Korea as well as the Ishikawa Music Camp in Japan.

At age six he was accepted as a junior student in a class for highly-gifted musicians at the University of Music and Performing Arts under Marina Sorokowa. Paul won 1st prize at the “Prima la Musica” Competition in 2006, 2008, 2010 and 2012, and 1st Prize at the International Hindemith Competition in Berlin in 2011. In 2012, he was awarded the Hajek Boss Wagner Culture Award. Paul performed in concerts and recitals in Europe and appeared on Austrian TV.

Ten-year-old Yesong Sophie Lee is this year’s youngest competitor. She began playing the violin at age four and is currently studying with Simon James and piano collaborator Hiro David. She made her orchestral debut at age seven as the winner of the Snohomish County Teacher Association Concerto Competition and has achieved 1st place at the Seattle Music Teachers Association’s Simon-Fiset Strings Competition every year since 2011. Yesong Sophie has also performed in the honors recitals of the Japan-Seattle Suzuki Institute for the last four years and her interests outside music include reading, drawing and swimming.

Born in Seoul, Jaewon Wee studies at the Korean National Institute for the Gifted in Arts and has made numerous concert appearances, including the 2012 Young Musicians Festival, the ELIA-ASIA Symposium in Seoul and the Kumho Prodigy Concert. Fourteen-year-old Jaewon has performed at the Busan International Music Festival and the Great Mountains Music Festival every year since 2011 and has won several awards, including 2nd prize and a special prize for the best interpretation of the Baroque work at the 15th Kloster Schöntal International Violin Competition.

Born in Auckland, New Zealand, 15-year-old Geneva Lewis moved to the US to study at the Colburn School of Performing Arts in 2005 under the tutelage of Aimee Kreston, concertmaster of the Pasadena Symphony. A prize winner at a number of national competitions, Geneva was a winner at the American Protégé Piano and String Competition 2012, performing a recital at Carnegie Hall. Also an accomplished pianist, Geneva studies piano and music theory with David Dunford at the Pioneer School of Music in Tustin, California. Geneva is a member of the American Youth Symphony.

Daniel Lozakovitj

Studying with Professor Dora Schwarzberg at the Music and Arts University in Vienna and Professor Josef Rissin at the Karlsruhe University of Music, Daniel Lozakovitj opened the Royal Festival in Stockholm and played as a soloist with the Swedish Royal Court Orchestra on Swedish National Day in 2013. Daniel has played with orchestras throughout Europe and has won prizes at a number of international competitions including Ohrid Pearls in Macedonia, Andrea Postacchini in Italy, Bravo in Belgium and the Solna Music Award in Stockholm in 2012.

Ilana Zaks

Alex Zhou

Ilana Zaks began studying violin at age three, made her symphonic debut at age 11, and has performed as a soloist with numerous orchestras. Currently studying with Donald Weilerstein and Itzhak Perlman, Ilana was a featured soloist with the Boston Civic Symphony at the Boston Hatch Shell in 2012 and at Jordan Hall in Boston in 2013. Ilana is a member of the Boston Philharmonic Youth Orchestra under Benjamin Zander, with whom she toured the Netherlands in June 2013, culminating in a performance at Concertgebouw.

Twelve-year-old Alex Zhou studies under the tutelage of Zhao Wei at the Preparatory Division of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. He has won numerous awards including Grand Prize in the Junior Division at the 2012 Mondavi Center Young Artists Competition and 1st place in Group A at the 2012 Andrea Postacchini International Violin Competition in Italy. Alex appeared on the National Public Radio show “From the Top” with pianist and host Christopher O’Riley and was invited to play in violinist Gil Shaham’s masterclass in 2013.

Claire Wells

Twelve-year-old Claire Wells attends the Spring Creek Academy in Texas studying with Gary Levinson in Dallas and Sandy Yamamoto in Austin. Claire has won several local and national competitions, including achieving Grand Prize Winner at the Collin County Concerto Competition and the Vernell Gregg National Concerto Competition in 2012. She has taken masterclasses with teachers including Ani and Ida Kava"an, Sergio Luca, Wu Han and Julia Fischer. Claire also loves chamber music and has performed at the Sun+ower Music Festival and the Music at Menlo Festival.
