MBA Programme Structure

The MBA requires you to complete nine courses over a minimum period of two years.

Equipment

To facilitate your studies you will require a wifi connection with a minimum connection speed of 512kbps. You will be loaned a tablet for the duration of your studies which will allow you to access our bespoke learning platform and the course materials for each of the MBA core courses. You will also be able to download and access the materials offline on your tablet whereby no wifi connection will be required.

Application Criteria

Refugee Status - Applicants must be able to demonstrate their refugee status, OR

Lebanese National - Applicants must be able to demonstrate that they are a Lebanese national.

Qualifications - Applicants will normally be educated to degree level, however we will consider applications from individuals with noprior tertiary education.

English Language – A good standard of English language proficiency is required as the application form must be completed in English. Excellent English language proficiency is required for those wishing to study the Entrepreneurship electives.

Theirworld and Edinburgh Business School’s MBA SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION FORM

Theirworld and Edinburgh Business School are delighted to announce a joint initiative to bring master’s level education to vulnerable Lebanese nationals and refugees living in Lebanon. The initiative will provide 20 fully funded places on the Edinburgh Business School’s flagship Master of Business Administration (MBA) programme commencing in June 2020. Academic support, as well as local examination arrangements, will support scholars with their studies whilst living in Lebanon.

Applications are invited from individuals who are passionate about furthering their education and who will use the knowledge and skills gained from their MBA studies, to help support their local communities. Additionally, the initiative welcomes applications from applicants who would not ordinarily be in a position to fund their own studies.

Online MBA Initiative

Application Terms and Conditions

Theirworld and Edinburgh Business School are delighted to announce a joint initiative to bring master’s level education to refugees living in Lebanon, and disadvantaged Lebanese Nationals. The initiative will provide 20 fully funded places on the Edinburgh Business School’s flagship Master of Business Administration (MBA) programme commencing in August 2020.

Applications are invited from individuals who are passionate about furthering their education and who will use the knowledge and skills gained from their MBA studies, to help support people in their local communities. Additionally, the initiative welcomes applications from individuals who would not ordinarily be in a position to fund their own studies.

1. The Scholarship scheme is not open to employees of Edinburgh Business School, Heriot-Watt University, either of their

agents, Theirworld, or anyone else professionally associated with the scheme.

2. All information detailing how to apply for the scholarship forms part of these terms and conditions. Submission of an

application will be taken to mean acceptance of these terms and conditions.

3. To be eligible to apply to the scholarship scheme, applicants should:

Be a Lebanese national or have official refugee status.

Be aged 25 years or over.

Reside in Lebanon.

Fully complete the scholarship application form and submit it with the required supporting documents.

Submit their application by midnight 19th April 2020

4. A panel of judges from Theirworld and Edinburgh Business School will review and select the 20 scholarship winners.

5. The successful applicants will, solely in the opinion of the judges, have demonstrated a proactive commitment to helping

their local communities in the past and have outlined a clear rationale demonstrating how an MBA would benefit them and

their communities in the future. The decision of the judges is final and no correspondence will be entered into regarding

the outcome of individual applications.

6. The successful applicants shall be notified by email by the 19th June 2020 and must accept the scholarship award, in

writing, by the 28th June 2020. In the event that a scholarship offer is not accepted within the time frame, it will be offered

to the first applicant on the reserve list.

7. The successful applicants shall receive a full scholarship to undertake the distance learning MBA programme. The

scholarship covers the costs of online study materials and the examination fee for each of the nine courses required to

qualify for the MBA degree. Up to a maximum of three examination re-sit fees may be covered across the programme,

subject to satisfactory academic progression. In addition, local or online tuition may be provided for the courses.

8. The scholarship award does not cover the cost of interim award fees, examination late defer or absent fees, travel,

accommodation or incidental expenses.

9. Study will commence in late August 2020. In the event of the successful applicant/s, having accepted the scholarship

offer, being unable to commence the programme in August 2020, Edinburgh Business School reserves the right to

withdraw the scholarship and offer it to the first applicant on the reserve list.

10. Scholars will follow a structured study plan with the aim of completing the MBA by late 2022/early 2023. Progress will

be reviewed after each examination result to ensure steady academic progress is being made. Edinburgh Business School

reserves the right to withdraw the remainder of the scholarship if the study plan is not followed, the scholar fails to make

steady academic progress and/or repeatedly reschedules/absents examinations.

11. Scholars remain resident in Lebanon throughout the duration of the programme. In the event that refugee students are

relocated to a new country or repatriated, they will be able to continue with their MBA studies and sit exams in their

country of residence.

12. Any hardware equipment provided to facilitate study, remains the property of Heriot-Watt University and must be

returned via our Arabworld office upon completion of studies.

13. Scholars agree to use any hardware equipment provided by Heriot-Watt University in accordance with Heriot-Watt

University’s IT and Communications Facilities Acceptable Use Policy (https://www.hw.ac.uk/documents/it-

communications-facilities-acceptable-use.pdf)

14. Scholars agree that Heriot-Watt University accepts no responsibility for the loss or misuse of personal data resulting

from the loss or theft of hardware equipment or the misuse of data by a third party resulting from failure to take the

necessary precautions to ensure that the equipment and data are protected.

15. Scholars must agree to be named, photographed, interviewed and quoted and their verbal and or written testimonials

used in publicity for Theirworld, Edinburgh Business School and Heriot-Watt University.

16. All elements of the scholarships are non-transferable and there are no cash alternatives.
