Compensation

Compensation is one of the most critical and sensitive factors for any employee and the employer. Every organization

handles it with utmost care when it comes to defining the same.

Managers needing their direct reporting teams data in one common place so that they can easily do a comparative analysis

Compensation Administer tracks progress on compensation cycle

Management leaders require accurate reporting and updates every single time the compensation cycle proceeds

The Solution

PeopleSoft Compensation 9.2 is the best answer for all these needs. It provides interactive pivot grids for users

to have more strategic decisions, dynamic reporting with proper data security. Managers can also make use of

analytics provided at Compensation History for individual employee compensation history.

Pivot Grids basis is PS Queries, which display the gathered data into easy to use grids and charts. There are

delivered pivot grids in Compensation which can be configured based on specific needs.

PeopleSoft Compensation 9.2 delivers following Pivot Grids:

Compensation Peer Analysis- Enable managers to compare compensation by position, location and department for their direct reportees.

Compensation Cycle Admin-For Admin to track progress and status of open compensation cycles

Compensation Distribution

Compensation by Performance

Information Displayed in the Salary Analysis Pivot Grid

Managers can use the Salary Analysis pivot grid to compare salary compensation for all their direct and indirect reports. When viewed in the grid format, this pivot grid displays the salary minimum, maximum, and midpoint of an employee, which is defined on the salary grade assigned to each employee. If such information is not available for the employee in the system, the values will be displayed as zero for the employee in the chart.

Data displayed in this pivot grid pertains to the compensation cycle from which the pivot grid is generated and it covers all salary plans within that cycle. Variable compensation plans are not included.

The initial view of the pivot grid shows the average current annual salaries of all direct and indirect reports of the manager, broken down by employee name. When you click a segment of the chart, you can select to view the details of the segment in a grid format, which is the salary information the selected employee.

From the Compensation Distribution pivot grid, managers can see how their employees are compensated in terms of salary pay, specifically, where they are in relation to their respective salary ranges.

Data displayed in this pivot grid pertains to the compensation cycle from which the pivot grid is generated and it covers all plans within that cycle.

The initial view of the pivot grid shows the employee count (direct and indirect reports of the manager) for each of these salary range categories:

Below the salary range minimum Within the salary range, but below the salary midpoint Within the salary range and at or above the salary midpoint Above the salary range maximum

Head count movement

Pivot Grid functionality provides grid and chart visualization with the ability to filter data by any dimension and drill down on facts to the individual detail level. Pivot grids use PS Queries as the basis to gather data and then transform the results into easy to use pivot tables or charts.

PeopleSoft HCM delivers headcount pivot grids to enable your organization to take a proactive approach to planning, analyzing, and anticipating workforce needs by filtering and presenting data graphically, using different views. Headcount grids enable HR Administrators to view headcount data visually and filter this data to a more granular level. These grids also provide managers with additional insight into the organization, particularly when looking to restructure. Users view the data within the context of the transaction, ensuring proper data security based on their current security access settings used for other reports executed from Workforce Reports

PeopleSoft HCM delivers these headcount pivot grids for the following users:

Administrator Headcount Movement - Shows administrators all job actions that occurred during the

specified reporting period (the default chart renders the latest 12 months). Current Headcount - Enables administrators to compare the distribution of the

organizational population by employee, contingent worker, and persons of interest, based upon current job effective dated rows.

Manager Headcount Movement - Allows managers to compare the distribution of the organizational

population by job code based upon current job effective dated rows. Current Headcount - Displays job actions of those that report to the logged-in manager that

occurred during the specified reporting period.

The headcount pivot grids are accessible from the Direct Reports pagelet on the Manager Dashboard.

To provide flexibility, you can define prompts to enable the user to display the data they need in the pivot grid.

Filters can be applied to the data to further slice it for analysis. Once the results are rendered, the user is able to drill down to the data details and interact with the data in a table format.

You can use the delivered pivot grids, or quickly configure your own using a 5 step setup wizard based off of any PS Query. For more information on Pivot Grid functionality, see the product documentation for PeopleTools: PeopleSoft Pivot Grid.

PeopleSoft HCM 9.2 increases your productivity with PeopleTools Pivoting Technology--a native PeopleTools functionality that transforms thePS Query result set into an Excel-like pivot table, chart, or grid.
