analyse the meaning created from the use of colours, props, costume, location, lighting, framing, actor/model

They use a reverse out in order to make the poster more eye catching to the audience. They also made the font look mythical because the film contains mythical creatures

The main colour used in the poster is blue, this is because the lighter shades of blue represents tranquillity, understanding, and softness.Dark blue represents knowledge, power, integrity, and seriousness. All these different types emotions ate shown throughout the film.

The background shows all the aspect of the mythical land, including enchanted trees that prevent humans from passing into the enchanted forest full of mythical creatures. This gives indications the conflict of humans and maleficent.

The colours and fontThey decided to use a reverse out because it make the tittle screen more eye catching to audience. The main colours used are golden and black. The gold represents the eyes of the character Edward who is a very powerful vampire in this movie. The colour black connotes authority and power. They decided to use black because there is a battle of power and authority between the Volturi and the Cullens through out the twilight sagas.

On the lower half of the poster it shows you a key place in the film. They show you this because they want you to think what's so important about it.

They put the main three characters on the poster to attract the audience as an anchor. On the poster the main three characters all have light drawn to them which indicates that they are the good guys in the film

They decided to use a reverse out so that the poster would be more eye catching to the public.

They use the main character(Katniss) as the main feature on the poster to make the poster more eye catching. They also have the mocking jay pin that was given to her in the first film surrounding her with fire. They use fire because fire resembles her personality throughout the four films.

They decided use a photo with Katniss holding her bow and arrow aiming to shoot because the bow and arrow is Katniss’s main weapon defending herself against enemies

They used a bold font in order to make the tittle stand out. They made the font gold because the colour connotes power and authority, this ties in with the film because Katniss is fighting for people for equality and she start to gain power and followers throughout the four films

Soundtrack Clip 1The genre gives the image a negative vibe and creates tension. (action/thriller)

Clip 2 The music for clip 2 gives the image an almost enchanting vibe giving the impression that the two people are about to do something fun or uplifting (fantasy/Romance)

Shining

They have chosen shots that portray the genre of the film, for example they used shots of three main characters going on a road trip looking very happy like a family. They used a happy song through out the trailer so that it gives the audience a happy vibe.

Scary Mary

They chose a mysterious music with voice to add tension so that the audience would be dragged in. they chose certain shots of the film to give the illusion

that the film was a horror instead of family/fantasy.

Iconography- Western

Western is a actual place in the American west. The landscape is filed with deserts, mountains, rivers and monument valley. The symbolic meaning of western is the wilderness as a site of savagery and the frontier is the boarder of civilization and lawlessness.

When I think of western films I automatically think of cow boys riding horses with guns, fighting for treasure and freedom. My mind automatically thinks of western American deserts and mountains.

Iconography- Sci-FiWhen I think of Sci-Fi films I automatically think of aliens and robots. This because when I was younger I would watch sci-fi documentaries about the possibility of aliens invading earth.

Sci-fi is just a shortened version of science fiction. I see Science fiction films that use scientific discoveries or advanced technology, either actual or imaginary the most interesting.

Iconography- Fantasy

When I think of a fantasy film I automatically think of Alice and wonderland, this is because its one of my favourite films. Alice and wonderland is one of my favourite films because I love the linear narrative.

My favourite film genre is fantasy. This is because I love the idea of the impossible being possible. Fairies, dragons angles, demons and magic animals that talk are some of the things I love about fantasy. Fantasy films can be linear or non linear but I prefer the non liner fantasy films because they always have a twist to the story.

Narrative Narrative Definition

A spoken or written account of connected events, e.g a story. Linear Narrative Definition

linear narratives follow a straight line, starting at the beginning, moving to the middle and the end of the story.

Linear Narrative Film ExampleAn example of a linear film would be Cinderella, this because the narratives follow a straight line.

Non-Linear Narrative Definitionnon-linear narrative often starts at the middle of a story or the height of a conflict and then double-backs to the beginning. Another non-linear narrative uses flash backs to keep the reader on his toes as the writer tells the full story.

Non-Linear Narrative Film ExampleMaleficent, this because the ending is a plot twist and the story of the film is re directed and starts at a different point from the original film, sleeping beauty.

Clip Analysis DialogueThe dialogue between different characters are all very serious. Costume The costume of all the characters are different, this is to give the audience an idea of the characters personalities and roles in the short clip. Music They use a tension themed song through most of the clip, heightening in certain parts when one of the men were being chased through the woods. Props They used guns, shovel, a digger and a belt. The main male character used a belt in order to use a zip wire so that he could get away from the beast that was chasing him. Lighting The lighting was in natural light because most of the clip was set outside. Editing They edited the clip very well using multiple shots so that audience understood what was happening throughout the clip.
