THERE IS/ARE

En espaol tenemos la expresin Hay

del verbo HABER. Es impersonal y da

igual el nmero de objetos (singular o

plural) porque siempre se utiliza en

impersonal.

Ejemplo:

-Hay un caramelo

-Hay das de sobra para disfrutar.

En ingls tenemos dos expresiones

para hay.

1) THERE IS (con un nombre en

SINGULAR).

2) THERE ARE (con un nombre en

plural).

Ejemplos:

- There is a pencil.

- There are three rubbers.

THEREISNT/ARENT

Si queremos decir que no hay,

tambin debemos fijarnos si el nombre

que sigue es singular o plural y adems

poner el verbo to be en negativo

(isnt/arent).

Ejemplo:

-There isnt any book.

-There arent two people.

Para preguntar simplemente

cambiamos el orden, pondremos is o

are (dependiendo de si es singular o

plural) y despus el there.

Ejemplo:

-Is there a computer?

-Are there five photos?
