Bldg. D. 208. phone: +36 1 463-2613 www.energia.bme.hu Objectives: To train mechanical engineers who would like to deepen their knowledge and appreciation of thermodynamics. To provide state of the art engineering tools for calculating, measuring or modelling thermodynamic phenome- non in decisive machinery and systems of our time such as nuclear power plants, steam and gas turbines or combustion units, in an effective way. Due to the internationality of the field, learning in English facilitates job finding in the industry sector and in the field of research, home and abroad as well. Main subjects and priorities of the specialization: The specialization is focusing on heat engines and energy transport processes. In parallel with the theoretical classes, laboratory measurements help our students to improve their engineering thinking. This way, they can design new machines or solve diagnostic problems on operating equipment more effectively. Besides of the analytic methods, the solution of engineering problems with state of the art software is also a priority of the specialization. Regarding the topic of the thesis, students can choose from a wide range of theoretical, meas- urement based or simulation based problems for which a well-equipped laboratory and software are provided by the department.
