Our Communion With God • 11:00 am serviceSilent ConfessionGeneral Confession: God, it’s so easy for me to forget that You have a plan, and that I’m part of that plan. Instead, I often find myself worrying and frantically trying to force things to happen. Forgive me. Help me to relax and “let the game come to me,” trusting that I am going to be in the right place at the right time to accomplish what you created me to do. Amen.

Decision Form: If you feel moved to respond in a tangible way. I am making a decision to become a follower of Jesus,

or I want to rededicate myself to that decision. I have questions about spiritual things and would like

to talk to someone. Other:

One of our pastoral staff would be happy to make an appointment to talk with you about your spiritual life and what steps might come next — but only if you wish.

I would like to schedule a time to talk.

New Director ofCommunications & Technology!

Last week, LifeJourney welcomed our new Director of Communi-cations & Technology – Spencer James! In May, we launched a national search to fill the vacancy in our church’s Communica-tions & Technology position.

Spencer will be responsible for our websites, social media, weekly bulletin, and weekly email. He will oversee the design, layout, writing, and printing of all our church brochures, displays, and adver-tisements. He will serve as staff liaison to our Worship Media Team and oversee maintenance, troubleshooting, and upgrades of all equipment and technology used in worship and the church office.

Please welcome Spencer, and lift him in prayer as he gets underway! (See full article at http://lifejourneychurch.cc/news/archives/2622)

Everyone’s Invited: Singles Oasis This Thursday, August 22nd, the Singles Oasis will NOT be meeting

at Robert Ferguson’s home. Instead, the Singles Oasis will be down-town for dinner, a walk on the canal and perhaps some karaoke. We will meet at Bourbon Street Distillery at 6 pm for dinner. The address is 361 Indiana Ave. See you there!

Dayspring Center in Critical Need! The Jr. High Ministry class would like your help providing much

needed NEWsupplies for Dayspring Center’s bare cupboards: z body wash, hand and bar soap, shampoo and conditioner. z deodorant (men’s and women’s), rubbing alcohol. z face cloths, bath towels. z twin sheets and blankets, pillows. z T-shirts for boys, girls, men. z socks for infants, kids, adults.

This list is also available by the donation box at the Missions Ministry wall. Questions? See a Jr. High student or their leader, Randy King. Thank you for your generosity!

Marriage Equality ForumAt 12:45 pm next Sunday (after 11:00 am worship), we will hold a forum in the Sanctuary to discuss how our congregation can push Indiana to grant equal benefits to same-sex couples. Representa-tives from Indiana Action Equality and Freedom to Marry will make presentations and participate in our conversation. All are welcome!

Two Choral OpportunitiesThe summer is winding down and Labor Day is nearly here; the

LJC fall choral season is around the corner. We have two opportuni-ties just for you! If you have a love of signing and a love for God, we’d love to have you join us for one or both choirs! Choral arrangements run the musical gamut from traditional to contemporary Christian music for worship.

Currently, the Gospel Choir is enjoying a break through Labor Day. It will resume Saturday rehearsals, beginning September 7, at 12:30 pm, in the Sanctuary.

The Choir (aka “Choir Oasis”) is enjoying a summer break, also. It will resume Wednesday rehearsals, beginning, September 4, at 7:00 pm, in the Sanctuary.

Our prayer is that all of our music ensembles will continue to grow with voices, lifting up the name and message of our great God! Instead of being “just” preforming groups, we strive to be ministry groups that truly serve the church. Prayerfully consider this wonderful opportunity and join us on our first practice.

Two New Great Books!Rev. Dr. Nancy Wilson, our MCC moderator, has written two

new books, both of which were very well received at the MCC Conference held in Chicago this year. Praise for Outing the Bible has included: “...will open many hearts to a new hearing of the Gospel.” Outing the Church has been described as “...the ‘Febreze’ of religion, removing the nasty must and mold, while letting in fresh air and light.” Both books were published by LifeJourney Press, our church’s publishing ministry. Please visit today’s special offer display near the bookstore kiosk and see how spectacular these books truly are!
