Being W.E.L.L. A Note from Johnny… In the days we are now living, there is one thing that is a must for every Christian and that is a fresh move of Holy God upon every life. To change the course of this country is for heaven to come down and invade the people of God in the church. For years my heart has desired for revival to fall upon every Church I have pastored and I believe it will come upon us if we seek the heart of the Holy One. I read about Charles G. Finney winning his thousands and his hundreds of thousands of souls to Christ. en I picked up a book and read the messages of Charles G. Finney and the message of Jonathan Edwards on ‘Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God,’ and I said, ‘No wonder men trembled; no wonder they fell in the altars and cried out in repentance and sobbed their way to the throne of grace!’” - Leonard Ravenhill “Revival is when God gets so sick and tired of being misrepresented that He shows Himself.” - Leonard Ravenhill “e spiritual disciplines of 2 Chronicles 7:14 are not just conditions for a true revival; they are the revival itself !” - Lewis Drummond “A spiritual awakening is no more than God’s people seeing God in His holiness, turning from their wicked ways, and being transformed into His likeness.” - Lewis Drummond “An awakening is ready to burst on the dismal scene when Christians have a deep, profound Spirit of prayer for an awakening.” - Lewis Drummond is Sunday during the AM and PM services, Glenn Shepperd will be sharing with us about the depth of Revival and how to walk with God. Listen to what some have said about an awakening from God:

“We cannot organize revival, but we can set our sails to catch the wind from Heaven when God chooses to blow upon His people once again.” - G. Campbell Morgan

“If revival is being withheld from us it is because some idol remains still enthroned; because we still insist in placing our reliance in human schemes; because we still refuse to face the unchangeable truth that, ‘It is not by might, but by My Spirit.’” - Jonathan Goforth

“I read of the revivals of the past, great sweeping revivals where thousands of men were swept into the Kingdom of God. I read about Charles G. Finney winning his thousands and his hundreds of thousands of souls to Christ. Then I picked up a book and read the messages of Charles G. Finney and the message of Jonathan Edwards on ‘Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God,’ and I said, ‘No wonder men trembled; no wonder they fell in the altars and cried out in repentance and sobbed their way to the throne of grace!’” - Leonard Ravenhill

“Revival is when God gets so sick and tired of being misrepresented that He shows Himself.” - Leonard Ravenhill

“The spiritual disciplines of 2 Chronicles 7:14 are not just conditions for a true revival; they are the revival itself !” - Lewis Drummond

“A spiritual awakening is no more than God’s people seeing God in His holiness, turning from their wicked ways, and being transformed into His likeness.” - Lewis Drummond

“An awakening is ready to burst on the dismal scene when Christians have a deep, profound Spirit of prayer for an awakening.” - Lewis Drummond

This Sunday during the AM and PM services, Glenn Shepperd will be sharing with us about the depth of Revival and how to walk with God.

You will want to be here for this important time of learning from a great man of God.

If you know of others who have a desire to deepen their walk with God, please invite them to the services. This will be a great opportunity to invite your ONE to hear God’s Word.

I will see you Sunday!

January 24, 2012

Dear First Baptist Family,

On January 1, 2010, I became Minister of Recreation here at First Baptist, and today

I face another momentous decision; therefore, I offer my resignation as Minister of

Recreation to accept a call of Pastor at Basin Baptist Church of Elba, Alabama, to

become effective February 3, 2012.

Let me assure you that I have sought the will of God and not to go would cause me to

face the possibility of being out of His will. My only reason is to be obedient to God’s

call for my life.

This being so, I know that our wonderful Lord has great plans for you in His future

and that is why Adele and I will pray for you continually. I appeal to each of you

to join in putting every ounce of energy to shoulder the task and support for the

Kingdom here at First Baptist. Thank you, Brother Johnny and the whole staff ! May

God continue to give His leadership as you serve this great church.

These next few days will be deeply emotional for us. Let these days be glad days as we

give thanks for all our Heavenly Father has done and will do in this ministry.

Now, a more personal note: Thank you for your patience with me in my weaknesses,

your forgiveness in my mistakes, and your confidence in our decision to minister for

Christ. I shall always praise your greatness, pray for your fellowship, and preach the

Bible as the Word of God.

One final request: Please, always remember me when I was at my best.

Sincerely,

Sam E. Self
