THINSTONE

••• for terraces, balconies and façades•• bed thickness 2 – 10 mm

UseIt is recommended for xing tiles exposed to extremely dicult usage conditions – caused by non-standard deformation of the substrate and adverse weather conditions.

Ideal for tiles exposed to deformation – due to its high elasticity, it perfectly absorbs strain:• ·caused by temperature - on balconies, terraces, facades, oor and wall heating systems,• ·mechanical – on wooden oors, plasterboards, abby partition walls, on exible watertight

insulation foil systems like THINSTONE ADHESIVE.

Enables xing tiles on dicult substrates – like: OSB panels, terrazzo, "tile-on-tile", as well as strongly adhesive paint coatings (e.g. oil paint dado), bitumen (after parquets), and adhesives (after PVC tiles), etc.

Technical dataTHINSTONE ADHESIVE is manufactured as a dry mix of cement binder, aggregates and specially selected modifying agents of the highest quality.

Bulk density (of dry mix) ca. 1.4 kg/dm3

Wet density (after mixing) ca. 1.4 kg/dm3

Dry density (after setting) ca. 1.5 kg/dm3

Mixing proportions (water/dry mix)

0.20 ÷ 0.23 l/1 kg

2.00 ÷ 2.30 l/10 kg

5.00 ÷ 5.75 l/25 kg

Min./max. bed thickness 2 mm ÷ 10 mm

Adhesive preparation temperature, substrate and ambient temperature during work from +5°C to +25°C

Curing time ca. 5 minutes

Pot life ca. 4 hours

Open time min. 30 minutes

Tile adjustment time 10 minutes

Floor access after ca. 24 hours

Grouting after ca. 24 hours

Kinds of substrates – all listed above dicult or deformable substrates as well as plas-tered and non-plastered walls of blocks, hollow brick, brick, and cement and anhydrite jointless oors.Fixed tiles – low, medium, and large size ceramic (glazing tiles, terracotta, mosaic), cement, stoneware. etc. tiles of medium absorptivity.

ProportiesHighly exible.

Double thick adhesion layer – from 2 to 10 mm – allows to x tiles on slightly irregular substrates.

Increased adhesiveness – actual adhesion to a concrete substrate in standard conditions is 2.0 N/mm2 (minimum adhesiveness required by the standard is 1 N/mm2).Reduced slip enables xing tiles from-top-to-bottom – optimum selection of consistency and thickness of adhesion layer in accordance with recommendations, eliminates slip of the adhesive making it possible to start works from the top of the wall and avoid xing cut tiles on its exposed surface.

Extended open time allows placing the tiles even after 30 minutes of the application – it can be applied to a larger surface, minimizing work time

Fixing tilesSubstrate preparationThe substrate should be:• stable – suciently rigid and suciently long stabilized. The stabilizing time is, respec-

tively: − for new cement plasters and jointless oors (made from ready-to-use AVAL mortars), min. 1 week for each 1 cm of thickness,

− for anhydrite jointless oors – at least 2 – 3 weeks, − for concrete substrates, at least 28 days,

• dry – free from puddles,• even – maximum adhesive thickness is 5 mm,• clean – free from layers that can deteriorate the adhesiveness, especially dust, dirt, lime, oils,

greases, wax, residues of oil and emulsion paints; • primed with one of ATLAS primers:

− AVAL KT 7 or AVAL KT 17 – if the substrate is excessively absorptive, − AVAL KT 16 – if the substrate has low absorption or is covered with the the coats that reduces its adhesion.

Adhesive preparation Pour the adhesive from the bag into a container with the suitable amount of water (see Techni-cal Data for proportions) and mix, using a drill with a mixer, until homogenous. The dispersed adhesive should be left to rest for 5 minutes and then remixed. So prepared adhesive should be used up within ca. 4 hours.

Adhesive applicationThe adhesive should be applied to the surface with a steel trowel or a smooth oat and then distributed evenly and shaped (possibly in one direction) using a notched trowel.

Placing the tileAfter the application, the adhesive retains its properties for ca. 30 minutes (depending on the parameters of the substrate and the environment). Within this time, the tile must be placed and pressed well against it. The contact surface with the adhesive should be as large as pos-sible - min. 2/3 of the surface of the tile. For oor tiles and for glazing made outdoors, it is recommended that the adhesion surface be complete.

Tile adjustmentThe position of a tile can adjusted delicately within 10 minutes after it is pressed.

The oor can be accessed and grouted after the adhesive has set, not earlier than 24 hours after xing the tiles. The adhesive achieves its functional strength after 3 days.

ConsumptionAverage consumption: ca. 1.5 kg of dry mix / 1 m2 / 1 mm bed thickness – for complete lling the space under the tile. It depends on the smoothness of the surface and the bottom side of the tile.

Important additional information• The tiles must not be soaked before xing.• While xing the tiles on weak substrates whose bearing capacity is dicult

to establish (e.g. dusty, dicult to clean), it is recommended to perform an adhesion test by xing a tile and checking the bond after 48 hours.

• Open time – from the moment of application of the adhesive to the moment of placing the tiles upon it – is limited and depends on the absorptiveness of the substrate, and temperature and humidity of the environment. In order to check if it is still possible to x tiles, performing a test is recommended. It consists in pressing your ngers against the adhesive. If the adhesive remains on the ngers, you may x tiles. If the ngers are clean, the old layer of the adhesive has to be removed and a new one applied.

• The excess of adhesive appearing in the joints on pressing the tiles has to be removed at once.

• The tools must be cleaned with clean water directly after use. Dicult to remove residues of the set adhesive can be removed with the AVAL KL 55 agent.

• Irritant – includes cement. Irritates respiratory system and skin. Risk of serious damage to the eyes. Can trigger allergic reaction on contact with skin. Due to its form – dust, the mixture can mechanically irritate eyes and respiratory system. Keep away from the reach of children. Wear appropriate protective clothing, protective gloves, and goggles or face protection. In case of ingestion immediately seek doctor’s advice – show the packaging or label. Handle according to the Specication Sheet.

• The adhesive must be transported and stored in tightly sealed bags, in dry conditions (most preferably on pallets). Protect against humidity. The shelf life period in conditions conforming with those specied above is 12 months from the production date shown on the packaging. Content of soluble chromium (VI) in ready-to-use mix - ≤ 0.0002%
