  • THANK YOU TO ALL VOLUNTEERS This has been a year unlike any other, and although some activities have been temporarily suspended, our parish has been thriving thanks to all of our volunteers. If you have been looking for a way to give back, you don’t have to look any further than your own parish. This is your church and it is being taken care of by you. Thank you for giving glory to God by participating in the mission of Jesus Christ. May God bless you! BEST ADVENT EVER We are halfway through Advent, but it is not too late to sign up for Dynamic Catholic’s Best Advent Ever: LET YOUR SOUL SHINE. Every day during Advent, you’ll receive an email with a short video from Matthew Kelly and the Dynamic Catholic team. It’s completely free and easy to sign up. Go to www.BestAdventEver.com and enter your name and email address. If you want to make 2021 the best year of your life, it begins with a great Advent. So, let’s all have an amazing Advent, together! ADVENT EUCHARISTIC ADORATION O, Come let us adore him, Christ the Lord! All are welcome to join St. Peter Parish for Eucharistic Exposition on Wednesday, December 16th from 9:00am – 9:00pm. Please sign up for an hour that works with your schedule. We would like to have at least 2 people per hour, however there is no limit to how many can sign up for a particular hour. Sign up for an hour at the table in the church lobby, on the St. Peter website or with this link. 2021 GIVING TREE & ADOPT- A - FAMILY Provide support this Christmas season to Catholic Social Services (CSS). All CSS Angel families have been adopted. The opportunity is still available to support many other needs by choosing, from the tree in the church entrance, a decorated gift card sleeve where you can make a cash donation or purchase a gift card to put inside. All can be placed in the collection baskets throughout December, or may be dropped off with parish office staff, or deposited in the security drop box on the wall adjacent to the lending library. NEED GIFT CARDS? ST. PETER SCRIP Rarely a wait time, one stop and pick-up. Stop by the Scrip counter to place your order before and after each weekend Mass, and before and after each 8:15 daily Mass on school days. A portion of the sale stays here. “In the twilight of life, God will not judge us on our earthly possession and human success, but rather on how much we have loved.” St. John of the Cross

I HEARD GOD LAUGH - MATTHEW KELLY A Practical Guide to Life's Essential Daily Habit Is Your Life Working? Most of us are trying to put together the jigsaw puzzle we call life without a very important piece. Over time this becomes incredibly frustrating. In this extraordinary book, Matthew Kelly powerfully demonstrates that we cannot live the life we have imagined, or experience the joy we yearn for, unless we learn to tend the soul. From there, with his classic style of practical wisdom, he teaches us how to remedy this problem. If you didn’t get a book last weekend, please pick up a copy of I Heard God Laugh in the church lobby, courtesy of the PCCW, and join your fellow parishioners in reading this life changing book this Advent.

INCREASED TRAIN TRAFFIC Beginning January 1, 2021, BNSF Railway will begin operating trains on the tracks that run along Highway 2 near St. Peter Church & School and on through Bennet, Palmyra, Unadilla, Syracuse and Dunbar to Nebraska City. On average, we can expect to see two trains a day on these tracks. With rail service resuming, it is critical to remember trains can run at any time and in any direction. Nebraska Operation Lifesaver, a group dedicated to promoting rail safety and preventing grade crossing accidents, offers the following tips to ensure safety near the tracks:

    • Always expect a train; freight trains don't follow published schedules

    • A typical freight train can take more than a mile to stop

    • The train you see is likely closer and faster-moving than you think

    • The only safe place to cross the tracks is at a designated crossing

    • Being on railroad tracks and property is not only dangerous - it is illegal

Please visit https://community.oli.org/state/ne#about for more information about rail safety.
