Third Sunday of Easter
April 26, 2020
WELCOME TO GRACE
We recognize, celebrate, and give thanks for the many diverse gifts of God among us. We welcome persons of every race, language, age, gender identity, sexual orientation, physical and mental ability, national origin, immigration status, and
economic level. We hold that discrimination is incompatible with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We affirm all relationships founded on the principles of God's love and justice.
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
Grace Memorial Episcopal Church, following in the way of Jesus, seeks to effect transformational change in individuals, in our Portland neighborhoods, and in other communities near and far. To do this we will engage our
spiritual, human and financial resources in creative partnerships with people and organizations to further God’s work in our world.

CANTICLE 16 THE SONG OF ZECHARIAH Hymnal S 404
SECOND READING 1 Peter 1:17-23 After the reading the Lector says Here ends the lesson. CANTICLE 21 TE DEUM
You are God: we praise you; You are the Lord; we acclaim you; You are the eternal Father: All creation worships you. To you all angels, all the powers of heaven, Cherubim and Seraphim, sing in endless praise: Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might, heaven and earth are full of your glory. The glorious company of apostles praise you. The noble fellowship of prophets praise you. The white-robed army of martyrs praise you. Throughout the world the holy Church acclaims you; Father, of majesty unbounded, your true and only Son, worthy of all worship, and the Holy Spirit, advocate and guide.
You, Christ, are the king of glory, the eternal Son of the Father. When you became man to set us free you did not shun the Virgin's womb. You overcame the sting of death and opened the kingdom of heaven to all believers. You are seated at God's right hand in glory. We believe that you will come and be our judge. Come then, Lord, and help your people, bought with the price of your own blood, and bring us with your saints to glory everlasting.

THE APOSTLES' CREED BCP Pg 96 Presider and People together, all standing – intoned
I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth; I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE Presider The Lord be with you. People And also with you. Presider Let us pray. LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be your name, Your kingdom come, Your will be done, On earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread, Forgive us our sins As we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial, And deliver us from evil, For the kingdom, the power, And the glory are yours,
Now and forever. Amen. SUFFRAGES A BCP Pg 97

COLLECT FOR EASTER 3 O God, whose blessed Son made himself known to his disciples in the breaking of bread: Open the eyes of our faith, that we may behold him in all his redeeming work; who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen. COLLECT FOR GUIDANCE Heavenly Father, in you we live and move and have our being: We humbly pray you so to guide and govern us by your Holy Spirit, that in all the cares and occupations of our life we may not forget you, but may remember that we are ever walking in your sight; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. COLLECT FOR MISSION Almighty and everlasting God, by whose Spirit the whole body of your faithful people is governed and sanctified: Receive our supplications and prayers which we offer before you for all members of your holy Church, that in their vocation and ministry they may truly and devoutly serve you; through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Phoebe MacRae, soprano Kevin Walsh, baritone
A memory of Eden stirs, And walks within the warmth of spring; It whispers ev’ry hope God has to Life Eternal, listening. Stretch past the gloom of winter’s grey, unfurl by faith and not by sight; to touch the light of length’ning day that calls thee forth to green delight. The season of new growth begins, embrace the promise we all share; lift ev’ry voice and celebrate, The living God, who’s always there.
THE GENERAL THANKSGIVING Presider and People
Almighty God, Father of all mercies, we your unworthy servants give you humble thanks for all your goodness and loving-kindness to us and to all whom you have made. We bless you for our creation, preservation, and all the blessings of this life; but above all for your immeasurable love in the redemption of the world by our Lord Jesus Christ; for the means of grace, and for the hope of glory. And, we pray, give us such an awareness of your mercies, that with truly thankful hearts we may show forth your praise, not only with our lips, but in our lives, by giving up our selves to your service, and by walking before you in holiness and righteousness all our days; through Jesus Christ our Lord, to whom, with you and the Holy Spirit, be honor and glory throughout all ages. Amen.
