Many dioceses right here in the United States do not
have enough priests and trained lay ministers to serve
their parishes. These dioceses are known as home
missions. The Catholic Home Missions Appeal will take
place this weekend in the second collection, and
supports these dioceses by funding essential ministries,
including seminary education and lay ministry training.
Please be generous in this appeal and share your
resources to strengthen the Church at home.

Dear Parishioners,
This Sunday the Church celebrates the Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe. It is the last Sunday of the liturgical year before we begin the Season of Advent. In our Gospel today Jesus is placed on trial before Pontius Pilate and questioned, “Are you the king of the Jews?” This was the charge that was brought against Jesus to have him arrested and sentenced to death by the Jewish leaders of Jesus’ time. (If he was brought before the Romans as a king then he would be seen as a threat to the Roman Empire and most likely executed.) Jesus explained to Pilate that his kingdom is not of this world; it is not a worldly kingdom but rather a heavenly one. However, Pilate was not concerned with things beyond his world and he was unable to recognize the Truth of who Jesus was and what kind of King he was and is and so Pilate handed Jesus over to his executioners and had him scourged and then crucified.
Jesus Christ, the King of Kings, the Word made flesh that was God from the beginning; the Word that through whom all things were made stood before Pilate, and yet Pilate did not recognize the one who is “The Way, the Truth, and the Life”. He did the unthinkable, he sentenced him the one who is all Good, all beautiful, all powerful, all merciful, all mighty, all love, all forgiving, to a cruel and horrific death. The greatest evil that man could possibly do…putting to death the author of life, the King of Kings!
Out of the greatest evil, putting God to death, came the greatest good: Our Lord Jesus Christ was Glorified by our Heavenly Father and made our King forever. He offers us a share in his kingdom by giving to us his Holy Spirit through the Sacraments of the Church. Through His death on the Cross He has reconciled us with the Father and opened to us the Kingdom of Heaven. Jesus is our King and his kingdom is among us, and that kingdom also dwells within us, yet the fullness of the kingdom awaits for us in the heavens. His kingdom is not earthly; it does not consist in the things of the world; “For the kingdom of God is not a matter of food and drink, but of righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit (Rom 14:17).”
As we celebrate the Thanksgiving meal this week let us be thankful of the greatest gift that God has given to us; the gift of his Only Begotten Son who willingly died on a Cross for our salvation and became our King so that we could share in his Kingdom. May God Bless you and your loved ones as you celebrate your Thanksgiving Day.
Our Lady Queen of Peace pray for us,
Father Ed
Administrator
A special thanks to the many parishioners who have donated food items for the new parish food pantry. Jesus tells us in the Scripture that whatever you did to the least of my brothers you did to me. Thank again for helping those in our neighborhood who are in need.
Please come and join us on Thanksgiving Day at 9:00 AM in the Church to celebrate the Holy Mass. Together let us thank the Lord as we gather around his table of the Word and Eucharist with our brother and sisters. I invite you to bring a food item from your table so that it can be blessed at the Mass and also to bring a food item that can be donated to our food pantry to help someone in need.

Bishop Serratelli’s Statement on the tragedy in Paris
“As the faithful, religious and clergy of the Diocese of Paterson, we join in prayer with people of goodwill around the world for the victims of the recent Paris attacks.
Such terrorism seeks to destroy the freedom and tolerance of the civilized world. The barbaric disregard for human life and the deep-seated hatred of ISIS are a threat to all humanity.
Together let us implore God to change the callous hearts of those seeking to harm us and to strengthen our resolve to work for peace. May the God of all consolation receive the souls of those who have died, heal the wounded and bring comfort to
the families of all the victims."
