~ How to Mat ~1. Window: amount of

work that will be shown.

2. Add 3” to top and sides

3. Add .5” extra to bottom to compensate for optical illusion.

4. Two pieces of board are cut. One for the window and one for the backing board.

6. Cut window with beveled edge cutter.

7. Place pieces end to end and attach with cloth tape.

8. Attach work to backing board with cloth tape.

9. Cover with black paper

Enlarged the invitation design and rewrote text. Hung in school, Nice ‘n Easy, Thee Barker Store, and Pizza, Wings, and Things.

Mrs. Jenks put the show on the Barker Website.Interviewed by The Buffalo News, along with Sara Budde, about out senior projects.

This is a pen and ink drawing of gourds done in the fall of 2004. Used within the work are different techniques such as cross-hatching and stippling.

This is a series of views of a mechanical object. It was done in black and white charcoal pencils in the fall of 2004

The hand series is a group of charcoal drawings done on white and gray papers with black and white charcoal pencils. It was done in the fall of 2004.

The barn jacket set is an acrylic painting done using only a painting knife, and a charcoal drawing done on green paper with black and white charcoal pencils. The painting was done in the fall of 2005 and the drawing was done in the fall of 2004.

This is a watercolor painting of a golden retriever done in the spring of 2005.

This is a watercolor study done of an origami object done in the spring of 2005. This was an example of how to create grey using complimentary colors.

These watercolor paintings are part of the final for Watercolor class. They are each required to have different techniques that were learned throughout the semester.

This is a picture of the Sherman sisters I painted in December of 2006. It is done in acrylic paint on canvas board. 18” x 24”*Not shown in art showThis is a self portrait done for the final project in Drawing. It was done with ebony pencil in the fall of 2004.

This is a texture painting. We needed to incorporate four different objects into the painting. In the painting is string, cereal, and glitter and the clouds were painted partially with a

sponge. It is acrylic paint on canvas board done in spring of 2005.

SELF PORTRAIT

The Program

• Contained all fourteen pieces• Information about each piece

– Medium used: ex. Acrylics, watercolor, pen and ink, charcoal pencil, ebony pencil, etc.

– When it was completed– Why it was done– Hardest part was finding

new things to say about each piece.

The tie painting is done with acrylic paint on canvas board.

The project required us to set up our tie on a piece of

cardboard and then paint that, trying to capture the

shadows, as well as the texture of the tie.

This painting was the final project for

my painting class. I chose to paint my

dad and dog. This is done with acrylic

paint on canvas.
