EXECUTIVE SUMMARYNorth Beach Elementary School

Given instruction, using the Competency-Based Curriculum, students in grade four(4) will increase their reading comprehension skills as evidenced by scores on the criterion referenced Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT)- Reading which meet or surpass the state's criteria regarding maintenance of performance in high performing groups on the 2002 administration of the test.

Given instruction, using the Competency-Based Curriculum, students in grades three(3) and four(4) will improve their writing skills, during the 2001-2002 school year, to maintain or increase by a three (3) point increase in the average score on a site developed pretest, administered in September, 2001 and posttest, administered in May, 2002, as documented in a school test report.

Given instruction, using the Competency-Based Curriculum, students in grade five(5) will increase their mathematics applications skills as evidenced by scores on the criterion referenced Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT)-Mathematics which meet or surpass the state's criteria regarding maintenance of performance in high performing groups on the 2002 administration of the test.

Given instruction, using the Competency-Based Curriculum, students in grade five(5) will improve their science comprehension skills as evidenced by scores on the criterion referenced Florida Comprehension Assessment Test (FCAT)-Science which meet or surpass the state's criteria regarding maintenance of performance in high performing groups on the 2002 administration of the test.

Given increased attention to the creative arts, students in grades five(5) and six(6) will increase their participation in the creative arts to maintain or increase by a five(5) point gain in the percentage of students participating, as evidenced by a survey comparing the number of creative and original performances given by students in the 2001-2002 school year to the number of performances in the 2000-2001 school year on the School Network News, as documented by a school presurvey, conducted in September, 2001, and post survey, conducted in May, 2002.

North Beach Elementary School, a prekindergarten through sixth grade center, is located in the Middle Beach Community of Miami Beach. The school services 1136 students with the following ethnicities: 52.7 percent Hispanic, 5.1 percent Black Non-Hispanic, 39.9 percent White Non-Hispanic, 2.3 percent Asian/Indian/Multiracial. North Beach Elementary School offers an Extended Foreign Language Program for grades K-6, a Gifted Program for grades K-6, Learning Disabilities Classes for grades K-6.

After analyzing and evaluating pertinent data such as School Demographics and Academic Profiles, Site Produced tests, School Report Card, Writing Assessment results, Performance Self-Assessment results, School Improvement Plan results from 2000-2001, faculty input and the 2000-2001 Florida School Report (published January, 2001), North Beach Elementary School, in conjunction with the 2000-2001 Educational Excellence School Advisory Council (EESAC), has identified the following objectives as schoolwide priorities for the 2001-2002 school year.

SCHOOL FOUNDATION1. ENVIRONMENT

1.1 PedagogyThis item explores the teaching process at the school, including programs, services, and delivery systems.

North Beach Elementary School provides basic educational services based on the Sunshine State Standards to students in the pre-kindergarten through sixth grade. In addition, the school implements the District’s Competency-Based Curriculum. The school has a comprehensive reading plan in grade one through six. North Beach Elementary has a complete school-to-career matrix for kindergarten through six grades. North Beach Elementary School has a satellite center at Mount Sinai Medical Center that contains one kindergarten, first grade and second grade class. The school offers all students the opportunity to participate in the USP Mathematics and Science Program. The school has a Bilingual program that services students in kindergarten through sixth grade. North Beach Elementary School has a Gifted Center program that services students in kindergarten through sixth grade. Instruction is provided in traditional classroom settings and is enhanced through computer-based activities in kindergarten through sixth grade. Additionally, the Gifted Center includes a technology lab to service students and teachers. Student support services include counseling, mentoring, tutoring, social service and an After-School Program for all North Beach Elementary School students. School-to-home connections are fostered through access to the school’s voice mail system and through web sites designed to keep parents abreast of developments in the classroom. Cadres of parents/caregiver are scheduled regularly to assist with the infusion of technology in each classroom, kindergarten through sixth grade. All teachers are trained in the use of CRISS strategies and School-to-Career curriculum.

1.2 Culture This item explores the culture of the school, includimg are the vision, mission, and core values of the school.

North Beach Elementary School employs a total of 85 full time staff members and 38 part time staff members. Of the total number of employees, two are administrators, 51 are classroom teachers, nine are exceptional student education teachers, four are full-time professionals, 17 are part-time paraprofessionals, seven are clerical employees, one is a part-time clerical, two are full-time cafeteria staff, five are part-time cafeteria staff, five are full-time custodial staff, one is the part-time custodial staff, one is the part-time zone mechanic, one is the part-time computer technician, one is the full-time media specialist, one is the full-time media clerk, one is the full-time security monitor, and one is the part-time crossing guard. The school also has a part-time visiting nurse, social

worker, school psychologist, and speech therapist. The After-School Care Program at North Beach Elementary is staffed by: one full-time manager, one part-time assistant manager, one full-time clerical worker, and 10 part-time counselors.

Of the teaching staff, eight percent of the teachers are new to the school for the 2001-2002 school year, with the average teaching time in Florida at 12 years. Two administrators and 38 teachers hold advanced degrees.

The bargaining units for all employees of the Miami-Dade County Public Schools is as follows: American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, Local 1184 (AFSCME); Dade County School Administrators Association, AFSA Local 77, AFL-CIO (DCSAA); Dade County School Maintenance Employee Committee (DCSMEC); Managerial Exempt Personnel (MEP); Teamsters Local Union No. 769 (Teamsters) and United Teachers of Dade (UTD).

1.4 Building Resources This item explores budgetary commitments for facilities, technologies, and equipment.

North Beach Elementary School is located on 5.2 acres at 4100 Prairie Avenue on Miami Beach in Miami-Dade County, Florida. The original school was built in 1936. There have been two additions, one in 1954 and the second in 1995. There are presently four portables located on the premises. Additionally, the school has a satellite center located at Mount Sinai Medical Center. The satellite center houses one kindergarten, first and second grade classes.

North Beach Elementary School retrofitted the main campus to provide Internet and Intranet access to 100% of the classrooms. All administrative, instructional, and non-instructional areas are equipped with computers and the school has an up to date closed circuit television system.

Due to the increased student population, construction is under way on a new classroom building and a new media center. The construction will also include renovations to the existing structures. Construction and renovations are projected to be completed by the Fall, 2003.

1.5 ConstraintsThis item explores standards, laws, and rules that strongly influence the school to take action.

North Beach Elementary School adheres to a policy of nondiscrimination in educational programs/activities and employment. It strives affirmatively to provide equal opportunity for all. Veterans are provided reemployment rights in accordance with P.L.93-908 (Federal Law) and Section 295.07 (Florida Statutes), which stipulate categorical preferences for employment. Additionally, the school is in compliance with all OSHA and Environmental requirements.

The school adheres to the policies and procedures that provide equal access in employment, educational programs and activities as stated in the School Board Rules.

Hostile treatment or violence against a student, a teacher, or an employee because of his/her gender, race, color, religion, ethnic, or national origin, political beliefs, martial status, age, sexual orientation, social and family background, linguistic preference, or disability will not be tolerated.

North Beach Elementary School is subject to the requirements of the Florida Department of Education and Florida’s High-Quality Education System, including the implementation of programs addressing the requirements of the Sunshine State Standards. In addition, the school implements the District’s Competency-Based Curriculum.

2. RELATIONSHIPS2.1 StudentThis item explores the unique requirements, expectations, and needs of the key student groups.

The North Beach Elementary School community is a middle socio-economic neighborhood.

North Beach Elementary School services 1136 students from the surrounding neighborhood, including Standard Curriculum students (82 percent), Exceptional Student Education students (18 percent), English Speakers of Other Languages (19 percent), Language Equivalent Proficiency (7.7 percent), Out-of-Boundary Transfers (12 percent) and Economically Disadvantaged students (38 percent).

The ethnic/racial makeup of the student population is 5.1 percent Black (non-Hispanic), 52.7 percent Hispanic, 39.9 percent white (non-Hispanic), 2.3 percent Asian/Indian/Multiracial. The mobility rate of the schools is 21 percent.

The school has a 99.3 percent promotion rate and a 95 percent attendance rate.

North Beach Elementary School meets the needs of our community beyond mandated requirements. The school is retrofitted, including an elevator, to accommodate students, teachers and employees in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act. Each teacher creates individualized lesson plans to accommodate the specific learning styles of all students. The school’s Alternative Education and Exceptional Student Education classes meet the needs of students who function best in reduced size classes. Teachers, social workers and counselors work in concert to provide needed mentoring and tutoring. Our Child Study Team and counselors address the needs of our students who require placements in special programs and work to redirect unproductive behaviors through individual and group counseling.

2.2 StakeholderThis item explores the unique requirements, expectations, and needs of the key stakeholder groups, including parents/caregivers and the surrounding community/businesses.

North Beach Elementary School works hard to link with the community in several ways. The key stakeholders complete a school self-assessment survey prior to the beginning of each school year. The results of the survey are shared with the community and are used to assist the Performance Excellence Plan. The school, in conjunction with Friends of North Beach and the North Beach Parent Teacher Association, hosts a Back-to-School night at the beginning of each school year. The Association of the Gifted also hosts a Back-to-School night for family members of gifted students at the beginning of each school year. The Educational Excellence School Advisory Council (EESAC) meets four to six times a year. The Friends of North Beach and the North Beach PTA meets periodically throughout the year. Each meeting provides a forum for all stakeholders to address and resolve any issues and concerns that they might have, resolving them through consensus.

Throughout the year, stakeholders are invited to attend several events and educational activities. The school’s Media Center is open to all stakeholders who which to participate in reading stories to children in a variety of languages. The Instructional Technology program invites stakeholders to participate in furthering the infusion of technology in the curriculum.

Stakeholders may attend any number of annual events at the school. Among them is the school’s Annual Gallery Night, Environmental Club Annual Parents/Caregivers Picnic, Annual Carnival held on the schools grounds, Annual Community Career Week, Black History Month Celebrations, Hispanic Cultural Celebration Month and participation in the American Heart Association’s “Jump Rope for Heart” program.

The School has an active after-school care program. The counselors conduct periodic parent/caregiver in-services to inform and instruct them on how to help their children in home learning strategies. The North Beach Elementary School sponsors an end of the year trip for all students who achieve 100% perfect attendance for the school year.

North Beach Elementary School sponsors an after-school Health Club. The Health Club is funded by the Healthy Lifestyle Education Program grant that was won by one of the school’s physical education teachers.

North Beach Elementary School also has several musical programs open to the community through out the school year; including a choral and an orchestral concert by the students.

2.3 Human ResourcesThis item explores the unique requirements, expectations, and needs of the faculty and staff.

The American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME), the School Board of Dade County, Florida and the United Teachers of Dade (UTD) negotiate the benefits and compensation packages utilized by North Beach Elementary School employees. These packages include a comprehensive health component as well as standard insurances and other selected benefits.

The faculty and staff at North Beach Elementary School are provided with a choice of professional development programs that are provided by the Miami-Dade County Public Schools district administration. As an opportunity for growth, employees also receive tuition reimbursement to encourage earning advanced degrees and/or certificates.

The administration, teachers, and the PTA at North Beach Elementary School acknowledge outstanding contributions to the progress of the school through weekly newsletters, quarterly newsletters, memoranda, announcements on the school’s closed circuit television broadcasts and articles in the local newspapers. Each year the faculty selects and Administrator of the Year, Teacher of the Year, Rookie Teacher of the Year, and Paraprofessional of the Year. The staff and faculty also participate in a number of District, Community and State Employee recognitions. These include, but are not limited to, Principal of the Year, Assistant Principal of the Year, Counselor of the Year, Mathematics Teacher of the Year, Science Teacher of the Year, Custodian of the Year, and the Elayne Weisburd Teacher of the Year.

2.4 Supplier and PartnerThis item explores the unique requirements, expectations, and needs of the key supplier groups, including providers of goods and services such as social services, food, transportation, and key partners such as other schools, workforce connections, and community connections.

North Beach Elementary School welcomes interns from all local universities. Students from the universities, as well as stakeholders, provide mentoring and tutoring for North Beach Elementary School students and at the same time, North Beach Elementary School administrators and teachers provide supervision for the interns from the universities. Almost all students promoted from the sixth grade will attend Nautilus Middle School. The staff from North Beach Elementary works closely with Nautilus Middle School on articulation issues to ensure that entering seventh graders are prepared with the background they need to be successful in middle school.

North Beach Elementary School has developed several long-term Dade Partners within the local community. These include local businesses and financial institutions. North Beach Elementary School has active and involved parents, teachers and community boards. They include: North Beach PTA, Friends of North Beach, North Beach Association of the Gifted, North Beach Social Committee and the Educational Excellence School Advisory Councils.

North Beach Elementary School purchases all materials, supplies, and equipment from vendors that have been approved by the Bureau of Procurement and Materials Management within Miami-Dade County Public Schools within Miami-Dade County Public Schools.

3. COMPETITION3.1 Position: This item explores the competitive position and explores the factors which strongly influence students to enroll at this school instead of a competing school.

Enrollment at North Beach Elementary School has increased by 40 percent over the past five years. The Florida Department of Education grades North Beach Elementary School as an “A” school. The President’s Committees in Arts and Humanities has nationally recognized North Beach Elementary School’s orchestral music program.

North Beach Elementary School’s campus is unique in that it blends old Florida architecture with lush tropical foliage and flowers. The school’s center courtyard contains two student made ceramic wall murals and the atrium entry houses to more such works of art. These four magnificent works have been featured in international photographs. The North Beach Elementary School Dade-Partners were honored at a televised awards ceremony for having provided the financial underwriting of these art works.

3.2 CompetitorsThis item explores the alternate schools available to students.

The North Beach community is served by a number of local public and private schools that compete for our students. The outstanding reputation that North Beach Elementary School has earned in its community allows our school to grow despite the competition for students. North Beach Elementary School has earned a grade of “A” from the Florida Department of Education for the past two years. Several of the competing schools in our community have also received a grade of “A”.

North Beach Elementary School students enter local, county, state, national and international competitions each year. These competitions are venues for academic, artistic and athletic growth and endeavors for our students and teachers.

3.3 ModeThis item explores the Critical Success Factors for the areas identified by the school as being essential to the achievement of the vision/mission of the school.

North Beach Elementary School uses a cooperative system of leadership and school management that includes representatives from all stakeholder groups on its primary decision-making group, the Educational Excellence School Advisory Councils. School leaders provide a framework of technical support and professional growth opportunities that stakeholders need to make informed decisions. New ideas and innovations are sought and utilized to continue to improve the service to students and stakeholders.

North Beach Elementary School utilities a myriad of teaching strategies and infused technology to enrich the student’s educational experiences. Input from interested stakeholders is an essential part of program improvement. Open lines of communication between the school’s leadership and the stakeholders are critical to the on-going success of the excellence in education required by our community.

Administrators and teachers create and responsibility monitor time lines to ensure that the goals and objectives are consistently met in every classroom through out the school.

North Beach Elementary School has several unique programs. Among them are the string orchestra music

program, student generated mosaic murals, Gifted Latin Language instruction and exposure to the creative arts through field trips, concerts, plays and symphonies.

Complaints are viewed as opportunities for growth and improvement and as such all complaints are viewed seriously and addressed in a timely fashion. This also creates a work environment that motivates the teachers, staff, and students to do their best because they know the very best is being done for them.

3.4 DynamicsThis item explores the changing threats and opportunities to which the school must respond.

North Beach Elementary School faces several challenges as we enter the 21st century. The first challenge is maintaining academic excellence. Through effective lesson planning and creative teaching strategies, North Beach Elementary School continues to earn its grade of "A" from the Florida Department of Education. The second challenge is that the school's physical plant must keep pace with the growing enrollment. The main campus of the school is currently being renovated and a new wing is being built to accommodate the growing enrollment. The third challenge is maintaining effective public relations within the North Beach community. Through the consensus of the Educational Excellence School Advisory Council, a new student authored newspaper has been approved for regular publication and distribution beginning September, 2001 to enhance and supplement the communications already utilized between the school and its stakeholders. The fourth challenge is keeping pace with technology. Because technology changes so quickly, North Beach Elementary School faces the challenge of consistently updating our hardware and software. Another technology challenge is the lack of hardware to allow all students sufficient experiences with technology. To alleviate this situation, Friends of North Beach solicited corporate sponsors who donated $40,000 to North Beach Elementary School. Additionally, the teachers of the Gifted won a grant to purchase eight new computers for the school.The Administration, teachers and staff work in concert to juggle the dynamics of these challenges.

4. CHALLENGES4.1 LearningThis item explores the challenges the school faces in providing educational activities that result in student learning.

North Beach Elementary School has identified several issues concerning challenges and learning. The first challenge is maintaining academic excellence. This challenge grows greater because state requirements grow more stringent and the window of achievement grows smaller as our scores go up. The second challenge is the school’s physical plant must keep pace with the growing enrollment. This challenge manifests itself through crowded classrooms, cafeteria and hallways. The third challenge is maintaining effective public relations with the North Beach community. The North Beach community continues to experience unprecedented growth. The fourth challenge is keeping pace with technology. Because technology changes so quickly, North Beach Elementary School faces the challenge of consistently updating our hardware and software. Another technology challenge is the lack of hardware to allow all students sufficient experiences with technology.

4.2 FacultyThis item explores the challenges the school faces in ensuring the quality of teachers, providing for the satisfaction of the faculty, and the challenges the school faces in the delivery of educational programs.

The North Beach Elementary School teachers have identified several challenges gleaned from the School Climate Survey. The teachers requested more scheduled in-services addressing the latest techniques and strategies for learning enhancement. Another identified challenge is maintaining a motivated climate for teachers. With the ever, increasing demands and responsibilities staying focused and motivated is a difficult challenge for teachers.

4.3 Operational and External ForcesThis item explores the challenges the school faces in internal daily operations and in interactions with the surrounding community.

North Beach Elementary School has identified several operational and external forces. The first challenge is the acquisition of updated hardware and software. The second challenge is budgetary constraints. Budgetary constraints have negatively impacted the purchasing of updated hardware and software. Additionally, the purchasing procedures outlined by the School District are cumbersome and repetitive causing inordinate delays in delivery of needed teaching materials on a timely basis. The third challenge is maintaining effective public relations with the North Beach Community.

4.4 Process ImprovementThis item explores the challenges the school faces in improving educational program design, student support services, operational and strategic planning processes, cycle time, data usage, and organizational learning.

North Beach Elementary School has identified several issues concerning challenges to the process improvement. The first challenge is maintaining academic excellence. North Beach Elementary School has earned the “A” grade from the Florida Department of Education. The second challenge is maintaining effective public relations with the North Beach community. The third challenge is keeping pace with technology changes.

5. IMPROVEMENT5.1 Education Design and Support ProcessesThis item explores the methods the school is using to address the Opportunities For Improvement that were identified in item 4. CHALLENGES, 4.1 Learning.

North Beach Elementary School has identified several challenges concerning improvement in Education Design and Support Process improvement. The first challenge is maintaining academic excellence. North Beach Elementary School earned a grade of “A” from the Florida Department of Education for two (2) consecutive years. In order to address this challenge the Grade Level Chairpersons in conjunction with the administration have developed effective lesson plans and creative teaching strategies. The second challenge is the school’s physical plant must keep pace with the growing enrollment. In order to address this challenge, the main campus of the school is currently being renovated and a new wing, media center and cafeteria is being built to accommodate the growing enrollment. The third challenge is maintaining effective public relations with the North Beach community. To address this challenge, North Beach Elementary School by consensus with the Educational Excellence School Advisory Council approved a student authored newspaper for regular publication and distribution beginning October, 2001 to enhance and supplement the communications already utilized between the school and its stakeholders. The fourth challenge is keeping pace with technology and the lack of hardware to allow all students sufficient experiences with technology. To address these challenges, North Beach Elementary School alleviated this situation when Friends of North Beach solicited corporate sponsors who donated $40,000. The North Beach PTA donated $28,000. Combining these funds with the Library Matching Fund, North Beach Elementary School purchased 30 computers and printers and various educational software. Additionally, the teachers of the Gifted won a grant to purchase eight new computers for the school.

5.2 Education Delivery ProcessThis item explores the methods the school is using to address the Opportunities For Improvement that were identified in item 4. CHALLENGES, 4.2 Faculty.

According to North Beach Elementary School’s School Climate Survey there are several issues concerning the improvement in the education delivery process. The first challenge identified was the need for additional instructional in-services. The administration, through the Teacher Education Center, organized and arranged professional developmental in-service to assist teachers in developing new techniques and strategies. The second challenge was maintaining a motivated climate for teachers. To address this challenge, North Beach Social Committee, in conjunction with Dade Partners, planned and organized breakfasts, luncheons and dinner dances for the teachers and staff. Additionally, the North Beach PTA and a Dade Partner have provided several high quality polo shirts emblazoned with the school’s logo. The parties and polo shirts were the community’s way to show the teachers and staff its appreciation. The teachers and staff were energized.

5.3 Operational and External Forces ProcessesThis item explores the methods the school is using to address the Opportunities For Improvement that were identified in item 4. CHALLENGES, 4.3 Operational and External Forces.

Based on these challenges, North Beach Elementary School will work towards increasing the number of Dade-Partners to help offset the cost of updating the school’s technology. In order to address this issue, North Beach Elementary School and Friend of North Beach will invite potential Dade-Partners to attend meetings in order to disseminate the positive news about the school. Additionally, these potential Dade-Partners will be made aware of how North Beach Elementary School’s continued success helps to drive the financial success of the overall community.

5.4 Organizational ProcessesThis item explores the methods the school is using to address the Opportunities For Improvement that were identified in item 4. CHALLENGES, 4.4 Process Improvement.

North Beach Elementary School has identified several issues in organizational processes. The first challenge is to maintain academic excellence. North Beach Elementary School has earned an “A” grade from the Florida Department of Education. In order to address this issue, North Beach Elementary School will identify those students whose skills are below grade level. Teachers will tutor the students in FCAT skills in an after school program. Additionally, the Gifted Center pulls out primary gifted students two days each week and intermediate gifted students two days each from each homeroom. On those days, the teachers and the paraprofessional will have the opportunity to reinforce the basic skills with the students remaining in the homeroom. The homeroom teachers, with the assistance of the paraprofessionals, will utilize one-on-one strategies to reinforce grade level skills and thinking skills. The second challenge is maintaining effective public relations within the North Beach community. The ever-increasing number of stakeholders in the workforce creates a greater challenge for active involvement in the school. Active stakeholders create their own momentum, in that they increased participation in the North Beach community. increased participation in North Beach PTA, Friends of North Beach and various school wide activities, gives the stakeholders exposure to the needs of the school. This exposure creates a “call to action” by the stakeholders in resolving the challenges facing the education of the students. In order to address this issue, North Beach Elementary School’s administration and teachers will continue to conduct meetings both days and evenings to accommodate the schedules of our working stakeholders. Bi-lingual communications will continue to be sent home to assure the inclusion of all stakeholders. The following information will explain how the EESAC has assisted in the preparation of the SPEP relative to the following issues:Budget:

The EESAC discussed the total school budget. The monies were prioritized by line item and through consensus, the EESAC recommended the purchase of FCAT materials for the appropriate grade levels. Through consensus, the budget was established.

Training:Teacher training needs are discussed at the beginning of each school year with EESAC. EESAC, by consensus, recommended offering discretionary in-services to teachers to further teaching strategies and skills. Some of the in services recommended were: 1) on-site PACES training for administrators and all kindergarten through sixth grade teachers 2) on-site budget training 3) on-site consensus training 3) on-site technology training 4) on-site language arts training 5) on-site writing training 6) on-site mathematics training 7) on-site science training.

Instructional Materials:The EESAC suggestions of instructional materials had one main thrust. That thrust was to make certain that new series of books purchased emphasized thinking skills and hands-on activities.

Technology:To further support the reading, mathematics and science instructional programs, the EESAC recommended the purchase of the following software: 1) Class Works 2) STAR and 3) Accelerated Reader programs to support the School Performance Excellence Plan.

Staffing: Through discussion and consensus, the EESAC recommended no changes of our staffing configuration agreeing that the current configuration meets the needs of North Beach Elementary School.

Student Support Services:The EESAC recommended that North Beach Elementary School continue to serve its students with a variety of strategies and activities. These include, but are not limited to, providing for the academic and emotional well being of the students: 1) Before and After School Care programs 2) FCAT Skills after school tutoring 3) The on- site Miami Beach Police Officer conducting the school’s Drug Awareness program 4) Full time visiting teacher 5) Paraprofessionals to assist learners in the classroom.

Benchmarking: By consensus, the Educational Excellence School Advisory Council (EESAC) agreed to purchase the following: 1) SRA Reading Kits 2)computers and printers 3) Computer software: Classworks and Star 4) Fourth grade Vocabulary Books.

Other Matters of Resource Allocation: The EESAC resource allocation sub-committee reported back to the full committee that it was satisfied with the disbursement of EESAC funds for this year.

School Safety and Discipline:The EESAC committee suggested the following safety recommendations in conjunction with the construction of the new wing at North Beach Elementary School: Safe school bus loading zones, additional restroom facilities for the students in the new wing and pushed to have a new roof rather than patching the old roof .
