The Brahmaputra is in rising trend while Jamuna, Ganges-Padma and Meghna are in falling trend.
The Brahmaputra-Jamuna may likely to rise whereas Ganges-Padma & Meghna may continue to fall in next 72 hours.
The rivers around Dhaka City (Buriganga, Balu, Turag and Tongi Khal) may continue to fall in next 72 hours.
In following 2 stations, water is flowing above their respective danger levels recorded today at 06.00 AM.

DIRECTORATE GENERAL OF HEALTH SERVICES (DGHS) ACTIVITIES
National Health Crisis Management Center &Control room (Hot Line +88 0 1519114488) and Control Rooms of flood affected district have been opened for 24/7.
In last 22 days ( 19 August -09 September 2014) National Healht Crisis Management Centre and Control Room of DGHS recorded a total of 5046 diarrhea cases, 1146 ARI Cases (Acute Respiratory Infection – Pneumonia), 1546 Skin diseases, 645 Eye Infections, 37 Snake-bite cases and 483 Injury from 10 flood affected districts.
In last 22 days, total Death is 78 (69 from drowning, 08 from snake-bite and 01 from ARI).
605 Medical Teams are working to tackle the health problems in flood affected areas.
At moment there is no shortage of emergency drugs (ORS, WPT, IV saline, anti-snake venom, antibiotics and other necessary drugs) in buffer stocks of these areas.
WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION (WHO) HEALHT CLUSTER ACTIVITIES
WHO and other health cluster partners are closely monitoring the overall situation with National Health Crisis Management Centre & Control Room, DGHS & Programme Manager, EHA and assured for providing necessary technical support in this regard.

Each Family Kit contains 18 items of daily essentials e.g. utensils, bucket, mug, cloths, soap, candle, ORS etc.
Total value of the relief items is BDT 59117922 (767,267 US$).
SECTORAL PROGRAMME SUPPORT:
SECTOR SUPPORT/CONTRIBUTION
WASH UNICEF is leading the WASH Cluster.
With UNICEF partnership, DPHE have mobilized 14 mobile water treatment units in the
affected districts.
63,000 litre safe drinking water was provided to 4,000 people.
180,650 Water Purification Tablets (WPTs) were distributed benefited 7,500 people.
649 latrines have been installed in the temporary shelters benefited 32,450 people.
160 temporary water points have been installed benefitted people 80,000 people.
15,300 hygiene kits are transported to the affected districts.
HEALTH Govt. (DG - Health Services) has confirmed no shortage of emergency drugs (ORS, I/V fluid,
antibiotics, anti-snake venom etc.) in field.
48 death cases due to drowning have been reported. No disease outbreak reported.
Cluster Meeting is scheduled on 15 September.
Cluster Partners are closely monitoring the situation and assured necessary technical support
in this regard.
NUTRITION UNICEF is leading the nutrition cluster.
Rapid MUAC screening completed in Nilphamari district among the displaced population.
Nutrition situation remains pre-flooding levels. On-going in 3 other districts.
Nutrition Cluster Focal Points activated in flood affected districts. Routine MUAC screening,
monitoring violations of Breast milk code is on-going.
Pre-flood preparation:
Nutrition Cluster orientated 300 members of District Disaster Management Committee
(DDMC) of 10 disaster-prone districts on nutrition in emergency interventions.
Cluster Emergency Contingency Plan is ready and adopted by partners.
EDUCATION UNICEF Education section met government, Directorate of Primary Education. DPE Planning Division has planned of listing of flood affected schools and assess the damage. Education Cluster and DPE agreed on closely review of existing data collection tools already
tested last year during cyclone emergency. Education Cluster emergency meeting is scheduled on 7 Sept.
CHILD PROTECTION
Child Protection in Emergency (CPiE) cluster meeting was held on 4 Sept.
World Vision is running a Child Friendly Space in Shariakandi Upazila of Bogra.
COMMUNICATION Intensified mass media broadcasting reaching over 70% of the affected populations. Under

FOR DEVELOPMENT
UNCEF’s partnership, Bangladesh Betar Regional Station of Rangpur is broadcasting of life-
saving messages from an hourly basis to broadcasts twice every hour, covering at least 10
districts including the 4 most affected districts. Messages also covering how to avoid snake
bites and drowning.
UNICEF is supporting the government officials, partner NGOs and CBOs in the area of inter-
personal communication. Bangla messages of Facts for Life are being distributed among
vulnerable people for reducing potential for diarrhea.
With UNICEF support, BBC media (co-chair of the CwCiE Working Group) has developed
mobile phone messages and being disseminated among the affected communities.

DeSHARI CONSORTIUM Emergency Response Flood 2014 DeSHARI is a consortium of five INGOs viz, Save the Children International, Muslim Aid, Christian Aid, Dan Church Aid and Action Contre La Faim to strengthen disaster risk reduction and response in Bangladesh. The DeSHARI partners have started responding to the current flood based on the resources available with them. The detailed response plan is given below:

USAID Emergency Response Flood 2014 Through CARE Will Provide food ration support to 6,000 families and non-food items (NFI) packages to 7,000 families which will altogether cover approximately 65,000 individuals. A total 150 metric tons (MT) of food (wheat, peas/lentils, and veg oil) will be used from in-country food stock available under the food assistance development program. The 10 days food ration package is designed in accordance with UN Food Security Cluster agreed package. NFI packages included essential households utensils. The target areas will be within Kurgram, Shirajganj, Bogra, Jamalpur areas. We will keep coornidate with local government and INGOs to avoid duplication and extend coverage.
