Children’s Summer Sunday School Escape to Athens with Paul!

Through August 18, 9:30 am in Mitchell Hall.

Imagine leaving a life of privilege and power to face angry mobs, painful imprisonment, and chain-breaking earthquakes—all to spread the life-changing truth of God’s love. Learn the jaw-dropping story of the Apostle Paul…straight from Paul himself! In an ancient “anything goes” culture, Paul will inspire kids to share the truth of God’s immeasurable love today!

Don’t miss the opportunity to escape to Athens and experience learning God’s word in fantastically fun ways this summer! Bring your friends and join in on the food, music, and marketplace of Athens while we learn together about God’s love.

RALLY DAY, which begins our fall Sunday School program, will be on Sunday, August 25. Everyone meets in the Sanctuary for an opening program and installation of teachers (children’s and adult classes). Then, everyone is dismissed to go to their classrooms together. AUTHOR VISIT Trinity’s own Linda Sprague Pappas has published her first book, The

Perfect Child for Us. In 2011 her grandson Caden was born with something seriously wrong. Your newborn may die. That’s what the doctors in the

Neonatal Intensive Care Unit of Duke Children’s Hospital implied. In this faith-filled memoir, she describes the days, weeks, and months following

his devastating diagnosis of a rare congenital muscular condition. Regardless of the outcome, the family commits to facing Caden’s future

with faith, hope, love, and courage and firmly believes that he is “the perfect child for us.” Pappas is a retired Ashland High School English

teacher and former lifelong Ashland resident. She now lives and writes in West Bath, Maine. She will be discussing her book in the Trinity Lutheran

Church Home on Wednesday, September 18, at 6:15 pm. A limited number of copies will be available for purchase for $10 cash or check.

The Perfect Child for Us is also available on Amazon as both a paperback and a Kindle eBook.

Mosaic, for grades 7-12, will be starting up Wednesday, September 11, 6-7 pm. We are

looking forward to seeing all of you. If you are interested in being a small group leader,

we are currently searching for a boys’ high school and middle school leader. If you are

interested, please contact Heather.

Things that make you go hmmm…

Let’s take a moment to appreciate the

fact that our internal organs don’t itch.

Maturity is realizing how many things

don’t require your opinion.

Exercising is basically hurting yourself

until you build up an immunity to hurting

yourself.
