San Gabriel Valley Region supports the Treasure Little Children
Foundation, that was established in 1998 by a group of volunteers
dedicated to enriching the lives of those in need by providing
educational assistance and classroom renovation. This is
accomplished through purchasing and donating computers, books,
school supplies, and craft materials.

The San Gabriel Valley Region calendar also comes in a “Comma Separated Values” (.csv) format and can
be imported into Microsoft Outlook and then synchronized to your smartphone. It takes less than 2
minutes. Go to sgvr.pca.org/Calendar.html for the .csv files and instructions for importing to three
versions of Outlook1. CSV is an ASCII Text format so you can easily verify it’s virus-free.

Protecting Your Privacy on the SGVR app
We hope you are enjoying the San Gabriel Valley Region smartphone app. As you know, it lists all the
members subscribing to the app. It defaults to displaying your e-mail address and telephone number.
In early October 2017, a vendor who was also an SGVR member harvested e-mail addresses and began
sending advertising to those addresses, which was contrary to our terms of service. We have received
complaints.
San Gabriel Valley Region is working to prevent commercial use of your personal data.
In the meantime, you can easily prevent your personal data being displayed.

Party
Jack Staggs hosts his annual 356th Day of the Year Party in San Clemente. Bring your favorite beverage,
chip/dip or dessert, but most of all, bring yourself.
This is a free event, no registration required, open to anyone that’s
even remotely interested in 356.
When? Saturday December 22nd, 2018 - this is the ACTUAL 356th
day of the year for 2018 Rain date tbd… this is SoCal.
Where? 1321 Calle Valle Unit N, San Clemente, CA 92672
Time? 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM or until the last folks leave. Lunch will
be served at 12:00 noon, to give everyone a chance to eat (not just
the early birds).
How? Drive your 356 (beater, daily driver, rusted out, Concours, 4 Cam, etc.) and park it with as many as
can fit on the property (lots of em). Or arrive in any manner possible. The important aspect of the party
is that you get to this gathering.

What is there to do? Eat BBQ, consume beverages, hang with a bunch of like-minded Porsche nuts, look
at lots of cool 356’s, marvel at and drool on Jack’s “356 stuff” and participate in a “Miniature Swap
Meet.2”
2 What’s a “Miniature Swap Meet?” Items for swap that you can carry in your 356. Bring out your extra parts and pieces to help other folks finish their projects! No truckloads please. If you’ve got a spare engine, transaxle, etc., print up the information, make it available to potential swappers. No speculators or sharks.

Road & Valencia Ave in Brea), just before 6:30 AM on the first Sunday of EVERY MONTH! Departure time
is 6:35.6 AM SHARP!! All Porsches or whatever runs is welcome. Destination: the world famous Flo’s
Airport Café located at the Chino Airport.

Bring your cowboy hats and join us for a fabulous four-day weekend in Tucson, Arizona. We’ll be staying at the beautiful Marriott Starr Pass Resort in the mountains of
Tucson. Upon arrival Friday evening, we’ll enjoy a family hoedown at the Catalina Grill.
On Saturday, we’re off to Old Tucson where many classic and current western movies have been filmed.
The spirit of the “wild west” comes alive here! Saturday evening will be free for you to enjoy many of
the great Sonoran restaurants in Tucson.
On Sunday, we’ll drive to the Pima Air Museum which is one of the largest aviation and space museums
in the world with over 350 historical aircraft from the Wright brothers flyer to a 787 Dreamliner. The
museum covers 80 entire acres. We will also go to the Sonora Desert Museum which is a world
renowned zoo, natural history museum and botanical garden all in one location. Sunday night, our group
will have a beautiful dinner overlooking the Tucson mountains on the hotel property.
On Monday, we’ll drive to
Tombstone which is known
for its Wild West history, re-
enacted gun fights and the
famous Boot Hill Cemetery.
That evening, we’ll enjoy an authentic Sonoran dinner. Tuesday morning, we’ll head back to

The Porsche world will come to Los Angeles for a long weekend of swap meets, open houses, and
shows. The meet is held in the two large ballrooms on the main floor of the Airport Hilton, 5711 W.
Century Blvd., Los Angeles—very close by Los Angeles International Airport.
The public is admitted at 9:00 AM for $10 each at the door. Early Bird shoppers are admitted with the
vendors at 7:00 AM for $30 at the door.

The California Festival of Speed is a fun filled three-day event. It features Club Racing, a taste of
autocross, vendors’ row, food trucks, a Porsche timeline (different models of Porsches are displayed
each year), a swap meet and our new attraction, the Kids’ pit which was a huge success in 2018. To learn

3-6 April 2019, Treffen Santa Barbara
PCA—PCA's Spring 2019 Treffen will take place over Wednesday, April 3 through Saturday, April 6 in the
beautiful central California coastal town of Santa Barbara. Join us for this four-day event as we tour,
explore, and experience the American Riviera. Registration fee includes full breakfasts Thursday, Friday,
and Saturday; themed dinner with entertainment on Thursday; themed social on Friday; and closing
dinner on Saturday. Event apparel and Treffen bag are also included. Treffen Santa Barbara schedule

Out of the rubble of World War II, Porsche emerged to define the priorities of a new generation of
sports car enthusiasts. How did this marque become a recognizable symbol of postwar affluence and an
iconic producer of luxury vehicles? The Porsche Effect answers these questions by exploring the history
and significance behind the brand’s distinctive design, engineering, advertising, partnerships, and its
enviable record of racing triumphs. The exhibit encompasses five thematic sections, each of which will
contain a combination of automobiles, artifacts, archival material, image footage, and visual

Cambria Pines Lodge.
21-28 July 2019, The Porsche Parade
On 30 September 2018, PCA Porsche Parade tweeted the location and dates of
the 2019 Porsche Parade. It will be 21 through 28 July 2019 in Boca Raton,
Florida, hosted by The Boca Raton Resort, a Waldorf Astoria Hotel.

The Arizona Outlaws 356 Club has begun planning for an
extraordinary High Desert Holiday, centered in Flagstaff Arizona

Holiday Motor Excursion
In past years, the Horseless Carriage Club Annual Holiday Motor Excursion offered an opportunity for
people who don’t own 1932 or earlier cars to admire those really old cars as they formed up for their
drive.
The Horseless Carriage Club website now reads:

25-27 January 2019, Grand National Roadster Show
The Grand National Roadster Show is now in its
70th year. Once known as the Oakland Roadster
Show, it is the longest running indoor car show in
the world! Produced at the Fairplex in Pomona for
the 16th consecutive year.
Over 500 show vehicles will compete for awards inside the Fairplex buildings. Another 400-800 vehicles
will join the event Saturday & Sunday for the 14th Annual Grand Daddy Drive-In.
In recent years there have been a few Porsches, mostly 356s. Check History of the (Grand) National

Probably the biggest East Coast Concours, the Amelia Island Concours d’Élégance takes place from the
7th to the 10th of March 2019 with the show field on the Golf Club of Amelia Island. This year, the
honoree is Jacky Ickx and the concours will feature—among others—Volkswagen Coachbuilts.

Petersen Breakfast Club Cruise-In’s are normally the last Sunday of the month but as of 14 December
2018 the first Cruise-In on the Petersen events page is 25 Years of FCASW.
Join us as the Petersen Automotive Museum celebrates 25 years of FCASW with the 6th annual Ferrari
cruise-in. The cruise-in is set to be the largest gathering of Ferrari on the west coast.
Cars will be displayed on the 3rd floor of the museum’s parking structure. All cars, trucks and
motorcycles are welcome to attend. Coffee and snacks will be free to all attendees. The Cruise-In is to
be followed by a RALLY ($ 599).

SGVR Charity:
San Gabriel Valley Region supports the Treasure Little Children Foundation, that was established in 1998
by a group of volunteers dedicated to enriching the lives of those in need by providing educational
assistance and classroom renovation. This is accomplished through purchasing and donating computers,
books, school supplies, and craft materials.
