Thomas k. Mattingly was born in
Chicago, Illinois; on March.17,1936. He
attended Florida Elementary and
secondary schools. He is a graduate
of Miami Florida,received a bachelor
of science degree in aeronautical
engineering from auburn university in
1958.

Mattingly is one of the 19 astronauts
selected by NASA in April
1966.captain.he served as a member of
the astronauts support crews for
the Apollo 8 and11 missions and was
the astronaut representative in
development and texting of the
Apollo spacesuit and back (emu)
