Mechanical Engineering Projects

Analyzed the Fracture Mechanics of Soda-Lime Silica Glass January 2015 Used a Tinius-Olsen universal testing machine to conduct a three-point bend test on samples that were

subject to various surface condition treatments. Created a mfg. quality control tool for the visualization of glass strength with respect to surface

treatment and used Weibull statistical analysis to determine the variability of the strength.

Fluid Mechanics Data Collection September – December 2014 Tested the performance characteristics of a Bell & Gossett centrifugal pump in the form of pump head,

power input to the pump, and pump efficiency as a function of flowrate and compared the results to the manufacturer’s data.

Used pitot-static tubes to create velocity profiles at different locations in a rectangular HVAC duct.

Strength of Materials Testing September - December 2014 Used BlueHill 2 Testing Software hooked up to an Instron 3360 Load Frame to generate a stress-strain

diagram for unknown strains of steel and aluminum. Used a strain rosette to analyze a cantilever aluminum tube subject to combined loading.

Manufactured a Model Truck January – April 2014 Used the green sand casting method to cast the aluminum truck body. Machined the body on a Bridgeport mill to improve the surface finish. Machined the wheels on a lathe by turning, facing and boring solid aluminum stock.

Modeled a Fixture for Centering Connecting Rods September – December 2013 Coordinated team meetings, created a Gantt chart and presented periodic project updates. Constructed a drawing package using engineering hand drafting principles. Assembled and 3D modeled each part using SolidWorks.

Programming Projects Created a windows form using C++ for house investment payment and maturity calculations. Created a program using VBA to streamline the design of vessels for a water treatment system.

ASME Human Powered Vehicle Club  July 2014 – Present Working as a team with the goal of engineering a recumbent bike and entering it into competition. Team Captain for the research and design of the fixture for positioning the members of the frame

during fabrication.o Head team meetings and implement proper research and design fundamentals.
