Dear School Community, Happy Naonal Reconciliaon Week (May 27 th - June 3 rd ). You will have noced increased media aenon regarding our indigenous history in the past couple of weeks and it is certainly a focus of the Department of Educaon and Training’s Marrung Aboriginal Educaon Plan (2016-2026). This plan is in place to acknowledge the rich and thriving culture, knowledge and experience of our First Naons peoples so that they are celebrated by all Victorians and so that every Koorie person achieves their potenal, succeeds in life and feels strong in their cultural identy. Staff at Congupna Primary School have completed the second part of our Cultural Understanding and Safety Training this week and are commied to the Marrung Plan. As explained to us by Koorie Educaon Support Officers over the past weeks, Reconciliaon Week is an important me for our Koorie people as it encourages them to share stories and for us to listen. The school will connue to build knowledge and confidence to teach in this space so that we can increasingly draw on local indigenous connecons and educate our students about the culture, knowledge and experience of our local Koorie people. We have our second and final School Open Day coming up next Wednesday 5 th June. If you know of anyone with Kindergarten-aged children, please encourage them to aend, take a look around and have any quesons they may have answered. School Tours will be conducted at 9am and 11:30am on this day but I am available to provide addional tours by appointment if necessary. Our Parents & Friends Pie Drive orders arrived on Tuesday and I can report that the items I have sampled are delicious once again. Thank you to everyone who supported this important fundraising event. I believe everyone is a winner! Our second and final Parents & Friends Community Tea is being conducted this aernoon and this evening. Thank you to everyone that has volunteered their me over the past two events. Your support is much appreciated by the school and our students. The school has a Dio Visit next Thursday aernoon for all Grade F/1 students. Notes have been sent home to explain this important long-running student safety program to all families but if you have any further quesons, please direct them to Wendy or myself. Finally, please ensure all students are in school uniform. The school has a Uniform Policy and more informaon can be found on the website under the Parents Tab on the Home Page. We also have a pile of unlabelled lost jumpers at administraon and think that this may also be contribung to the problem. I would encourage all parents and carers to please label school uniform, insist that students wear layers of warm clothes and send a note to school explaining why children are out of school uniform if there is a good reason. U12 Northerners Soccer Report

With no U6, U7, U8 or U10 Cruzers Soccer last

week, our U12 Northerners flew the flag for

Congupna Primary School. The Northerners

played Shepparton Chris an College and Josh C

scored the solitary Northerners goal for the

game. Hunter had a go in goals for the first me

and did a really good job. The opposi on scored

a few goals for the game but our team had a

really good game despite the scoreline. We had a

bit of a laugh when the opposi on goalie slipped

when he was kicking the ball out. It was like he

slipped on a banana peel and he landed on his

back. He was okay though. We put up a good

fight on the weekend and are con nuing to

improve. We look forward to this week.

Go Cruzers!

Ms Craik - Grade 1/2/3

Students in the Grade 1/2/3 Classroom have been working on

descrip ve wri ng. To celebrate all of their amazing work and to

test our skills, students were invited to bring an item from home to

describe.

First we explored what it looked like and then how it felt with our

hands. Some items moved and made sounds, while others were

great for cuddling.

We then used all the vocabulary we had built up and created word

clouds on the netbooks.
