DESCRIPTION

The future of urbanity is about process, sharing, confronting and re-directing our economic narrative towards community activation. Three Farm was founded to create social learning environments using design and sustainable technology to engage individuals towards this future. We achieve this by developing participatory change making workshops using 3D printing and up-cycling as a tool for education in creative problem solving through co-creative play and tactile learning. This booklet is an overview of how we achieve this through tailored, industry specific professional development workshops and youth programs which facilitate design thinking and participatory learning for social technology, with a focus on sustainable practice.

Three Farm co-ordinates participatory change making workshops

using up-cycling and 3D printing as a platform for teaching design

thinking for sustainable and ethical practice, actioning a meaningful

process for social development.

We do this through industry tailored workshops for continuing

professional development (CPD) and youth programs, coordinating

community led development initiatives. Our goal is to use design as a

facilitator for creative problem solving through co-creative play and

sustainable learning; reframing future design practice models for

community engagement.

With a background in environmental design and print production,

Three Farm believes 3D printing is an essential technological tool for

developing future industry types in social technology and sustainable

production. Employing digital fabrication and co creation to kickstart

a new economic narrative which supports the maker, new inventors

and the world of open sourced design.

The integration of 3D printing will affect many industry typologies,

and it is an invaluable tool in actioning socio-environmental

sustainability for future industry development.

It is our purpose to facilitate the creative development of your

business towards sustainable innovation.

WORKSHOP OUTLINEGeneral Practice Introduction

WHAT IS 3D PRINTING (type) Makerbot Extrusion demonstration

PROCESS how and where to get things printed, who are the stakeholders?

WHO ARE THE GAME CHANGERS?

Who is doing what with 3D printing that is changing the way we consume do business and share ideas. Defining new areas of industry and highlighting who is driving sustainability and innovation through the technology.

How new manufacturing trends will affect how we design.

HOW TO CREATE A 3D PRINTED EXPERIENCE?

How can 3D printing engage stakeholders through experience, and co-creation.

TASK EXAMPLE

Co-create an object that is both tactile and adaptive

Participants will be provided with 3D printed connectors and various shapes and sizes of up-cycled 2mm card with which the group has to use to co-create theconstruction of a one self assembled structure, which can then be used for physical mind mapping.

Closing comments - Why tactile collaborative planning can help sustainable growth in your practice.
