Three Notch Trail from train to trail Charlotte Hall Trailhead: Follow MD Route 5 to Charlotte Hall Road; parking is available at the Northern Senior Activity Center, 29655 Charlotte Hall Road, Charlotte Hall. Baggett Park Trailhead: MD Route 235 to John V. Baggett Park at Laurel Grove, 26929 Three Notch Road, Mechanicsville. Ample parking; restrooms and water available April through October. Residents and visitors alike enjoy walking, running and bicycling on the Three Notch Trail. However, many don’t know that the trail is built on the former railroad right-of-way and trains ran through the county until the early 1960s. Trail users are encouraged to view the interpretive panels along the trail for more information on the history of rail line. The non-motorized trail runs from Deborah Drive in Charlotte Hall to Thompson’s Corner Road (Route 236) in New Market. There is an additional three mile section of trail to explore from John V. Baggett Park in Laurel Grove to Point Lookout Road (Route 5) in Mechanicsville. The county is now moving forward with the plans for the next section from MD 5 to MD Route 236 in New Market. Travel to the right. Move left to pass; give appropriate warning to trail users ahead; and move off the trail when you come to a stop

Stop at all road/street crossings

Pets must be on leash and controlled at all times

Alcoholic beverages are prohibited

No bicycle races or competitive speed training

Please respect private property and be a courteous user of public lands
