Here is the top 10 movies that were most successful. The reason for this is because they all are very dramatic and build up suspense. A lot goes in within these films and they are all gripping and keep the audiences on the edge of their seats. They all follow the conventions of a thriller film yet they have their own original ideas and originality is something that draws audiences in, therefore making them successful.

WHAT ARE THE CHARACTERISTICS OF THE

AUDIENCE FOR THIS GENRE?

It was seen that in 2012 57% of males watched films more than

females and out of these films thriller was the most popular.

This shows that the thriller genre could be possibly more

appealing to males rather than females.

A thriller film that shows this is Captain Phillips were 69% of the

viewers were males.

WHAT ARE THE CHARACTERISTICS OF THE

AUDIENCE FOR THIS GENRE?

Here we can see that C2 was the majority social class that watched

thrillers averaging on 56%, but it is seen that there is a close range

between all social classes. C2 is recognised as the skilled working

class, such as teachers and this could be because thrillers particularly

include these types of people within the storyline. This makes the film

more relatable to this class and therefore this could be seen why that

this social class is the majority of people that watch thrillers.

WHAT ARE THE CHARACTERISTICS OF THE

AUDIENCE FOR THIS GENRE?

Thrillers and adventures seem to be the most popular in the 15-24 age range and this hits my target audience. This shows that the genre is most appealing to this age range and will help me to achieve what my audience age range wants.

CONCLUSION

Altogether I have learnt that thrillers are liked most by

the C2 social group, males and the age range of

15-24. Although I may not target my audience at

this specific group I will try and aim at this group as

whole along with possibly a wider age range and

males and females. Although sticking to the social

group of C2 is something I think I should target so I

can reach the interest of this group as the

characters within my film will most probably follow

the C2 group.
