We’re very into our testing, which is why our products are class-leaders in safety and durability. At our test centre, we put all of our designs through the harshest conditions possible, from the cold of Scandinavia to the baking heat of the desert. We have a special salt chamber to test for rust protection, a draw bench that tests our pressure and load and a sleeping policeman to test extreme forces on the hitch hook. We even test our products for chemical resis-tance. And we have wind tunnel. And just when you think it’s all over, we have a machine that vigorously shakes our products, simulating a whole lifetime’s use in a few days. So when we put our name to something, you can be sure it’s the most durable, reliable product you can buy.

A history of innovations

If necessity is the Mother of invention, we are the Father. Our engineers have been innovating class-leading products in our Swedish factory since 1942, going from one innovation to the next. In 1973, we developed Europe’s first lockable ski-rack – the Luxus. Then after a string of other innovations, we raised the bar in Cargo-carrying systems with the ’Rapid System’. Made to fit any car with no need for tools, the ’Rapid System’ swiftly became the industry standard. Then in 2004 we made kayaks as at home on cars as they are on water, with the Hull-A-Port

rail. For the first time, Kayaks could be loaded on the side on top of the car, which meant more space and the possibility to take 3 Ka-yaks with a smaller rack. Which is all well and good, but we know that we’re only as good as our last innovation, so for 2011 we’re proud to introduce the SlideBar. Uniquely designed to slide out from your car, which means it won’t get damaged, you won’t get dirty and we can crack on with the next big eureka moment.
