We are brought together by heritage,social responsibility, and the desire toimprove the equality of all peoplethrough the use of science andtechnology.We value excellence in education,professional pursuits and leadership.We obtain excellence throughintegrity, empowerment, achievement,diversity and continuous improvement.
Throughout the year, SHPEcollaborates with on-campus resourcesas well as recruiters from topcompanies to provide engagingprofessional development workshops,such as resume critiques, interviewworkshops, Etiquette Diners, GraduateSchool Informationals, 60- second sellworkshops and many more.
Our SHPE Jr. committee has workedhard to establish our own SHPE Jr.Chapter at Amsterdam High School.Our chapter hosts monthly events atAmsterdam to provide these studentswith the tools they need to besuccessful in high school and beyond.One of our flagship events is ourannual Outreach Weekend, held at RPIand organized entirely by SHPEmembers.In 2016, our Outreach Staff receivedmore than 100 applications of which 76
SHPE welcomes all students to join ourdiverse membership. There are socialevents such as: BBQ's, Cultural Cook-offs,Baila con SHPE and the Appreciation Diner.These activities draw our members into avery tight knit group. Join and experiencewhat SHPE has to offer and how it canchange lives.

The Society of Hispanic ProfessionalEngineers (SHPE) was founded in LosAngeles, California, in 1974 by a group ofengineers employed by the city of LosAngeles.
Their objective was to form a nationalorganization of professional engineers toserve as role models in the Hispaniccommunity. SHPE became a networkingentity which led to the establishment of twostudent chapters to begin the network thatwould grow to encompass the nation.
Today SHPE is a strong network of sevenregions, each consisting of manyprofessional and student chaptersthroughout the nation.
