STATE TIMES NEWS BENGALURU: Ladakhi students residing in South India celebrated Losar at Tibetan Youth Hostel, Bangalore. On the occasion, Vice Chancellor (Retd), Defence Institute of Advance Technology/ Distinguish Scientist, ISRO, Dr Surendra Pal was the Chief Guest while Ananda Bante from Mahabodhi Society Bangalore, Geshes Lobzang Smonlam from Gadan Jangtse Monastery Mondgod and Director, Tibetan Youth Hostel Dhondup were the Guests of Honour. A number of Ladakhi stu- dents from various southern States including Karnataka, Kerala, Tamilnadu, Pondicherry and Andra Pradesh participated in the celebrations. Tibetans and their family members in Bangalore also joined the cel- ebrations. SILCWA members present- ed a variety of culture pro- gramme to showcase the cul- ture of different regions of Ladakh. The cultural pro- gramme covered the dances and songs of Ladakh, Tibetan and Balti showcasing unity and integrity in the region. This Losar was celebrated with a special theme of 'Igniting the Young Minds of Ladakh', under which special lectures and interactive ses- sions were conducted by emi- nent personalities regarding various fields including Naropa fellowship, opportu- nities in field of science and technology, IT sector, emerg- ing technologies, manage- ment area, competitive exams, entrepreneurship and start-ups. Dr Surendra Pal advised students to remain connected to one's culture and religion. In the race of touching the sky, one must not forget its roots and should always try to give something back to the society, he added. Ananda Bante and Geshes Lobzang Smonlam also spoke on the occasion. A two-minute silence was also observed in the memory of departed souls who were killed in recent avalanche accident at Khardong La. According to Chief Electoral Officer, J&K, Shailendra Kumar, his office is in the process of informing all the political parties about the exten- sion of date for the final publication of the Electoral Rolls, which is a constitutional require- ment. On inquiring about the enrollment of new voters and updations, Kumar said it is a continuous process and new voters can get enrolled anytime online on www.nvsp.in or download 'Voter Helpline' App from Google Play Store. He said voters can also get information on Universal Voter Helpline '1950'. Publication of Electoral Rolls: Date extended to Feb 7 STATE TIMES NEWS JAMMU: Vijay Choudhary, Corporator Ward No 42, inaugurated development works in Sector 5, Nanak Nagar in presence of former Mayor, Manmohan Singh and a number of people. Ensuing elections big challenge for police: ADGP Armed Losar celebrated in south India STATE TIMES NEWS KARGIL: The three-day Training module on Investigation of accident cases for Investigating Officers of District Police Kargil, which started on 27 January, concluded here on Wednesday at DPL Kargil. The inaugural session was chaired by SP Kargil, Dr Vinod Kumar. The course started with simula- tion exercise of an accident case followed by lectures imparted by different trainers covering all aspects of investigation, right from registration of FIR to completion of inves- tigation and final disposal of the cases. The training module included a combi- nation of theory and prac- tice with classroom exercis- es and practical field exer- cises. At the conclusion, there was an assessment of trainees and feedback was sought from them regard- ing the module. SP Kargil, during his valedictory speech, con- gratulated trainees for suc- cessfully completing the module. He said that aim of such programmes is capacity building in the organization particularly in investigation process, which is critical for polic- ing. He also ensured trainees that many such programmes shall be con- ducted by District Police Kargil in future to enrich their skills for dealing with different type of crimes. The function was presided over by former Minister and Vice President JKPCC Raman Bhalla. Rich tributes were paid to Father of the Nation and his contributions in the freedom struggles were remembered. A two minutes silence was observed on the occasion. Senior Congress leaders lashed out at the communal and divisive forces who were behind the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi. They said that Congress represents the ideology and philosophy of Gandhi but those who disrespect Mahatma Gandhi and who represent the ideology and philosophy of the killer of Gandhi, are trying to befool and mislead the masses. The speakers asked the people to differentiate between the followers of the philosophy of Nathu Ram Godse, the killer of Gandhi and the followers of the philosophy of Gandhi and don't be mislead by the forces who always opposed Gandhi's ideology & philos- ophy. They pledged to fol- low the philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi in their day today life. STATE TIMES NEWS JAMMU: Rekha Mahajan, BJP District President on Wednesday said that vari- ous welfare schemes launched by the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi have been benefitting crores of women across the coun- try. Speaking at the pro- gramme held here, Rekha Mahajan said that it hap- pened for the first time in the history of the country that a Government at the Centre has displayed its commitment for socio-eco- nomic upliftment of women- folk. STATE TIMES NEWSKARGIL: The three-dayTraining module onInvestigation of accidentcases for InvestigatingOfficers of District PoliceKargil, which started on 27January, concluded here onWednesday at DPL Kargil.

The inaugural sessionwas chaired by SP Kargil,Dr Vinod Kumar. Thecourse started with simula-tion exercise of an accidentcase followed by lecturesimparted by different

trainers covering allaspects of investigation,right from registration ofFIR to completion of inves-tigation and final disposalof the cases. The trainingmodule included a combi-nation of theory and prac-tice with classroom exercis-es and practical field exer-cises. At the conclusion,there was an assessment oftrainees and feedback wassought from them regard-ing the module.

SP Kargil, during his

valedictory speech, con-gratulated trainees for suc-cessfully completing themodule. He said that aimof such programmes iscapacity building in theorganization particularly ininvestigation process,which is critical for polic-ing. He also ensuredtrainees that many suchprogrammes shall be con-ducted by District PoliceKargil in future to enrichtheir skills for dealing withdifferent type of crimes.The trainees said that theywere hugely benefitted bythe training module.

At the end of function,Certificates were distrib-uted among trainees by theSP Kargil.

Natrang has been organ-ising four-day theatre fes-tivals, after regular inter-vals, since May, 2018 tocommemorate 35 years ofNatrang and during previ-ous nine months, thegroup has successfullypresented 36 differentplays, which is a record initself. Young actors who
