From the Principal’s Desk

Carpool Safety is Critically Important! It may be early in the school year, but it is never too early to re-mind parents how important our carpool rules are. Our children are watching us as parents to see if we follow rules, and they then learn from parents the importance of following rules. Here are some reminders of the safety rules during Car Pool: Cell Phone use is prohibited while in the carpool area and park-ing lot. Wait for staff to signal before you pull up. Put your car in Park while your child/ren are getting into the car. Children are only allowed out of the waiting area by a teacher on duty. Courtesy reminders: Arrive on time. Timeliness is always important, but especially so on days that are hot, rainy or cold. Let the office know if you have an emergency, before school ends for the day. Try to make other arrangements to have your students transported home rather than having them wait for you. Thanks for your help in making carpool a safe and efficient time.

From the Rebbetzin: “Selichot”

King David was anguished when he prophetically foresaw the destruc-

tion of the Holy Temple and the cessation of the offering of the sacrific-

es. “How will the Jews atone for their sins?” he wondered.

G‑d replied: “When suffering will befall the Jews because of their sins,

they should gather before me in complete unity. Together they shall

confess their sins and recite the order of the Selichot, and I will answer

their prayers.” ~Midrash

With the imminent approach of the new year and the Days of Awe, our

preparations for the High Holidays move into highest gear. Several days

before Rosh Hashanah we begin to recite the Selichot, a series of peni-

tential prayers.

The story is told about the fourth Chabad Rebbe, Rabbi Shmuel of Lub-

avitch, who once asked his illustrious father, the Tzemach Tzedek, re-

garding the reason for this custom. “My son,” he responded, “now is no

longer the time for words. Now we must translate words into deed . . .”
