In the coming months, hanging baskets will be displayed

throughout the Village, primarily on lampposts going down

the High Street.

If you would kindly like to sponsor a hanging basket for the

coming year, please contact the Parish Office for further

information on how to do this.

Sponsorship will cost £30 per

basket and any sponsorships

will be acknowledged in the

upcoming summer edition of

Tibshelf News.

Could you sponsor a

basket?

Yet again we were provided with a long and superb display of hanging baskets in 2019.

In previous newsletters we were very happy to acknowledge, and

express our sincere gratitude to, those who had kindly sponsored hanging baskets for the season.

Tibshelf Parish Council would like to share with the public it’s latest

developments that continue important changes as we enter a new

decade.

The Council has chosen a new logo,

designed by Judson Signs, that

represents the village’s history of being

the first inland oil well in the UK,

something also referenced on our

‘Welcome to Tibshelf’ road signs. This

has also now been placed on the new

Parish Truck.

2019 and now 2020 have seen staff

changes take place at the Council.

Kate Poynter was appointed in

February 2019 as an administration assistant to help the Office and

Village Hall run smoothly. In October 2019 Mark Scarborough was

appointed to the new role of Communication and Projects Officer and

now David Melsome has been appointed as the new Parish Clerk. Staff

profiles are on page 7.

The Council is also working on important plans for the village that will

map out it’s future. A Parish Council Plan is being drawn up that will

survey residents and create plans for the Council, working with partners,

to resolve the issues identified. We are also nearing finalisation of the

Neighbourhood Plan for the village. This document allows communities

to exercise power and develop a shared vision for their neighbourhood,

such as the shaping of housing development and growth in the area.

Have you renewed

your Gold Card?

Gold Card allows you to travel free, off-peak on local buses throughout the whole of England, after 9:30am up to 11pm weekdays and at any time during weekends and bank holidays. It also provides discounts in more than 700 businesses in and around Derbyshire, including shops, restaurants, hotels and services. It can also be used as a Library card.

Gold Card holders can also travel free-of-charge on Derbyshire Connect Dial-a-Bus ‘shopping’ buses.

From July last year, ticket machines on buses throughout the county can detect cancelled Gold Cards. A card may have been cancelled because:

• you told the council your card was lost or stolen

• you've had multiple Gold Cards and are not using the most-up-to date card

• your Gold Card has been used fraudulently

• you no longer qualify for free travel If your card has not worked the driver may let you travel for free

but will advise you to get a new card. If you have a card

because of your age you can apply for a Gold Card online. Or

contact your district or borough council.

Councillor Invited to All-

Party Parliamentary Group

for Fit and Healthy

Childhood

Following on from the recent mental health charter,

Kathryn will be researching and writing papers on mental

health and it’s provision for children. This is an unpaid

position which is separate and unrelated to her work on

Tibshelf Parish Council.

Kathryn says:

“It’s a huge honour to be invited to join the team. It’s

extremely important that there is correct and accessible

mental health provision and resources”

Kathryn has previously been working with Parliamentary

groups. She is currently the chair of Midlands Women’s

TUC and involved with the ‘Dying to Work’ Campaign that

aims to protect employment rights for the terminally ill.

She has also worked on the period poverty campaign that

aims to get free sanitary products for school children.
