The White Elephant Sale is held in January and is the largest fundraiser for Pescara Lake
activities. If you have furniture, dishes, linens, clean clothing, jewelry, or other items to
donate, please call Frank at (815) 997-3583 to schedule a pickup for the next Wednesday. Pickups will occur only on Wednesdays. We collect all year for this big event and really
appreciate your donations. Please do not leave items by the curb. Thank you for your support!
Don’t Forget to Feed the Elephant!!
DELORES & GARY MALIEPAARDFrom Linda Jackson
Delores and Gary lived in Pescara for a dozen years, more or less, and I met them when I visited my cousin, Pat Crocker, who lived here half-
time for 10 years. They were wonderful neighbors. I enjoyed their friendship when I moved into #25 and Delores prodded me to join the bowling league here. Everyone on the Pescara Lake Bowling League is familiar with Delores’ welcoming smile. They have moved back to Michigan now and have put “Buttercup” up for sale - a pet name for their yellow and white mobile home. I received a nice letter and phone call to let me know they have arrived safely and are happy in their condo. They send their best wishes to all their friends in Pescara Lake.
4TH OF JULY PICNICFrom Larry Halouska
Each year the Homeowners Association sponsors several picnics and half a dozen potluck suppers and this July 4 we had about 50 folks participating in the festivities. Thanks to everyone who brought side dishes and made this event a success.
We are grateful to Chris and Benny Poggiogalle who offered their time and energy to host this event, organize it and cook for it! Chris and Benny are relatively new to Pescara Lake and we appreciate their “can-do” attitude and willingness to handle this picnic.
The Poggiogalles expressed their gratitude to LaVirda Douglas, Andre Scott, Tony Maletto, and all of the folks who helped to set up the clubhouse, and clean up the clubhouse after the picnic. There is always a lot to do to get the place put back into order after an event. Thanks to all who helped.

A NOTE FROM LARRYHeat and Humidity each day, lots of summer
showers, lots of residents on trips – typical Florida circumstances for July and August. There’s no reason to be ‘down’ -- we’re lucky to be here! The rest of the country is having a heat wave, but we are lucky to have sea breezes, to be close to beautiful beaches, to have beautiful sunsets over the palm trees, and to have a beautiful large pool right in our front yard!
Looking forward – most of our planned social activities will start in another month or two. If you have a favorite activity that is not scheduled, let’s talk – and we can try to plan it.
LABOR DAY PICNIC - will be held on MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 4 at 1pm. During August a sign-up sheet will be posted in the clubhouse and we look forward to seeing you there. Would you like to be the host? Would you like to volunteer for helping with it? Talk to LaVirda Douglas at #223, phone 240-701-2011.
HERE’S SOMETHING A LITTLE NEW - A groupfromtheparkhasbeengoingtoafishfryonFridays – and the restaurant can accommodate many more folks. At this time there is no need to sign up --- we leave the park around 4pm on Fridays and head over to Mocha Joe’s in the HCA Healthcare Plaza on Cortez near the corner of 34th. We pull the tables together and enjoy “All You Can Eat” Fish Fry for $9.95 (or you can have their other specials or order off the menu). Please join us if you like casual dining and good fun.
AND FOR 2017, PLEASE SAVE THE DATE - VALENTINE’S DAY WEEKEND, SATURDAY EVENING FEBRUARY 11 TO BE EXACT. The Homeowners Association Board has scheduled entertainment / dancing at our clubhouse and we hope it will be a sell-out. Details will follow in a month or so.

SUNSHINE NEWSFrom Gail Hunter
Here we are through the month of July and soon those school buses will be rolling along. For all from the north this seems awful early, we never start
till just around Labor Day. For all of us, drive carefully with all the kids and buses
around. You know how anxious (NOT) the kids are to get to school.
Now to the news from the park: a sympathy card was sent to Sylvia McQuiston #150 upon the passing of her grandson.
Get well cards were sent to Clark Sugalski #124 who is in the hospital in Cleveland, Ohio; Susan McKesson #270; Randy Almendinger #263; and to Lois Lecuyer #181. Our wishes for a speedy recovery to all.
Thankstoallwhonotifiedmeaboutthesepeople,I think my message has gotten thru. I need help in hearing about our residents. So remember, Gail Hunter 941-752-6872, there is an answering machine so just leave a brief message and I will get back to you. Thanks
ATTENTION ALL RESIDENTS:From Jan Tekstar
