Characters One’s Adversity (Jonas)

One of Jonas’s challenges or adversity was seeing the Release Ceremony for one of the twins. When Jonas was watching the release he said “He killed it, he killed it!” then after that The Giver said “come with me tonight, I need to talk to you.”. That night Jonas was going to escape.

Overcoming the Adversity (Character

One: Jonas)

The way Jonas went through his adversity was by running away from the community and taking his little brother Gabriel because he was getting released too.

Characters Two’s Adversity (Zebra)

Zebra got hit by a car which injured him with a outcome of a broken leg and arm. In the story the text says “when a huge rushing shadow appeared in his line of vision and crashed into him”.

Overcoming the Adversity (Zebra)

Zebra overcame his adversity by using his hand. When Zebra was in art class he had to make a drawing or sculpture. When zebra was making a helicopter he realized that he was using his hurt hand.

Character Three's Adversity (Seventh

Grade: Victor )

Victor’s adversity is he’s trying to impress a girl named Teresa. It was hard for him because he didn’t know how to get a girlfriend.

Overcoming Adversity (Victor)

Victor tried to impress Teresa in French class by making a noise that sounded like he was speaking French. Then at the end of the story in the last sentence it says “He was going to like seventh grade.”.

Reflection page

All of these characters overcame their adversities by just doing what they needed to do, like when Zebra was using his hurt hand.
