2 SIDE ROADS

Want more rallies? So do we, and we're working on it.

In addition to the limited number of club-hosted rallies each year, we are inviting Tiffin dealers to host (with club assistance) even more rallies.

Dealer involvement in Allegro Club rallies is nothing new. To keep registration fees low, in many cases we have

partnered with our dealers who are located near the rally sites. The dealers generously defray some rally costs, such as meals and activities. Dealers also show rally participants the latest models of Tiffin coaches.

The actual cost of an Allegro Club rally includes campground fees, catering, entertainment, prizes, transportation to special activities, and technicians when available. Even with dealer support, the cost to the Allegro Club exceeds the income generated from registration fees. That's why we are not able to offer more than a handful of club-hosted rallies each year.

When fuel prices were lower, an Allegro Club rally in Florida may have provided a great excuse for a cross-country adventure for members in Oregon or California. While almost all our rallies have been sold-out quickly, we understand that shorter trips are more within the family budget these days. We are committed to offering a geographic variety of rally locations. In the past five years, we have held 39 rallies in 16 states. Let's hope that in the next five years, we can park our rigs in even more, thanks to this opportunity for increased participation by our dealers.

Tiffin’s new 28-ft. Allegro Breeze diesel pusher, scheduled to begin production this month, was selected as "Best of Show" at the 47th Annual National RV Trade Show. The staff of RV Business magazine lauded the Breeze as “the future direction of motorized RVs” and “a glimpse of things to come” after the Recreational Vehicle Industry Association December event in Louisville. The Allegro Breeze is 17 feet shorter than Tiffin’s top-of-the-line tag-axle Zephyr, but only 9.5 feet longer than a Chevrolet Suburban. The Allegro Breeze GVWR is 21,500 lbs. Powered by a V-8 Navistar Maxxforce 215-horsepower diesel pusher manufactured in Huntsville, Ala., near the Tiffin plant, the Allegro Breeze is built on Tiffin’s own PowerGlide chassis. Introduced in 2008 on the Allegro Bus, the PowerGlide chassis quickly became a popular option, offering one-stop service for Tiffin owners at dealerships and the Tiffin service facility. The PowerGlide chassis for the Allegro Breeze is newly designed on a coach-ready platform. Tiffin dealers quickly echoed the “Best of Show” assessment by the magazine’s editors and writers as they gathered for the Breeze unveiling. “The innovation in the type of products Tiffin continues to bring to the marketplace always surprises

me to see how far they can go,” said Philippe Frechette, general sales manager of Horizon Lussier in Montreal. “Seniors looking at coming down in size from a bigger motorhome but still wanting to keep RVing are going to be overwhelmed by the quality.” Size and upscale features also caught the attention of Doug Magee, general manager and sales manager at Reines RV in Manassas, Va. “We think it’s a winner. We’ve seen other products that are built on smaller chassis that are appealing to a little different niche in the past,” Magee said. “This one is totally different in that it is a chassis designed by Tiffin and it’s a rear engine diesel that has air brake and air ride systems. It’s a true diesel motorhome in a 28-ft. model. I think it’s going to be for upscale buyers who want to move down into a smaller coach without giving up what they are used to in their larger diesel pusher.” Track-testing of the Allegro Breeze will narrow its fuel mileage range, but based on engine and weight specifications, the miles-per-gallon is projected to be in the mid-teens. Tiffin has not determined pricing. “The Breeze is responsive to our customers, dealers and others in the RV market,” says Bob Tiffin, CEO of the family-owned Class A manufacturer founded in 1972. “This coach is wonderfully maneuverable and easy to park, and we’ve included many of the high-end touches of our much-larger diesel pushers.”

Roadside recipesby Gail Johnson

Many of you have been to Red Bay for service on your Tiffin-built coach, so I have been discovering recipes that are favorites at some of our North Alabama eateries. Perhaps the mention of these good dishes from popular local spots will encourage you to either prepare them yourself or visit these good places to eat the next time you come this way.

Ingredients:1 (10-ounce) package cut broccoli1 can cream of chicken soup

½ cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese¼ cup milk

¼ cup mayonnaise1 egg, beaten

¼ cup breadcrumbs1 tablespoon melted butter

Instructions:

Cook broccoli according to directions, omitting salt. Drain well. Place in sprayed baking dish. Combine soup and cheese; gradually stir in milk, mayonnaise, and beaten egg and blend well. Pour mixture over broccoli in baking dish. Combine crumbs with melted butter; sprinkle on top of casserole. Bake at 350 degrees for 30–45 minutes or until mixture is hot and crumbs are lightly browned.

Broccoli PuffHere's an easy side dish served at the historic Larimore House, a delightful cellar dining room located on the campus of Mars Hill Bible School in Florence. Now open only for catered events, the talented cooks at the Larimore House know what Southern cooking is all about.

Instructions:

3 cups chicken breast, cooked and diced 3 tablespoons lemon juice ¾ cup pecans, toasted and broken 1 ½ cups celery, diced

Combine above ingredients and chill for one hour. Mix dressing ingredients and combine with chicken mixture.

Claunch’s Pecan Chicken SaladThis delicious chicken salad is served at a popular lunch spot, Claunch's Café, in Tuscumbia. Claunch's is nestled cozily near the waterfall in Spring Park downtown, about a 45-minute drive from Red Bay.

Ingredients:

John’s Coleslaw DressingThis delicious made-from-scratch dressing is served at John’s City Diner, a downtown Birmingham landmark. John’s serves it with finely shredded cabbage for a delightfully different coleslaw, but it is also good on a garden salad.

Ingredients:1 (12-ounce) bottle chili sauce 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce¾ cup oil

¼ cup minced onion½ cup sugar1 ½ tablespoons lemon juice

¾ cup mayonnaise½ teaspoon paprika1 tablespoon white vinegar

Mix all ingredients in blender; serve over finely grated cabbage.

Instructions:

Dressing:

1 cup mayonnaiseWhite pepper to taste

¼ cup sour cream 1 teaspoon dry mustard

½ - 1 teaspoon salt

Pimento Cheese Sandwich SpreadIn downtown Florence, one of the favorite haunts of young and old alike is Trowbridge’s Ice Cream Bar and Sandwich Shop. Here, you can get a delicious pimento cheese sandwich among other favorites. Though the recipe is a secret, I believe this one comes close to that Trowbridge’s delicacy.

Ingredients:1 pound American cheese¾ cup mayonnaise½ teaspoon salt

1 (2 ounce) jar pimentoDash of Tabasco (optional)

Instructions:

Grate cheese in large bowl; add all ingredients and mix well.

Lemonade PieYou can get a piece of this delicious dessert at the Southland Restaurant, a local favorite for many years, located near Helen Keller’s home in Tuscumbia but actually in the Sheffield city limit.

Thaw lemonade to a slushy consistency. Combine milk with whipped topping; add lemonade to mixture and blend well. Pour into crust and chill thoroughly.

Instructions:

Ingredients:1 (8-ounce) carton Cool Whip1 small can frozen lemonade

1 can sweetened condensed milk1 graham cracker crust (9-inch)

Ingredients:4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts cut into strips

2 cups flour¾ cup milk ½ tablespoon seasoned salt

2 eggs1 tablespoon parsley flakes½ cup flour

1 tablespoon basil leaves Dash of garlic powder

Instructions:

Mix milk, eggs, and ½ cup flour and set aside. Mix 2 cups flour, seasoned salt, and herbs in large bowl. Dip chicken pieces in liquid mixture, then in dry mixture. Deep fry until golden brown.

Court Street Chicken FingersDelicious, crispy chicken tenders were a specialty of the former Court Street Café, a downtown Florence eatery popular with the Sunday lunch crowd. The historic building has since become a Legends Restaurant.

We're standing on the deck of the “Spirit of Boston,” a sleek, beautiful dinner cruise ship in Boston Harbor. The weather couldn’t have been better and the harbor was like glass. Maybe it’s all those teabags. We're enjoying one of the fantastic rallies arranged by Allegro Club President Jimmy Johnson we attended last year. Rallies can be fun and informative. We’ve been to some Brand X rallies, and there's no comparison. Like having beans and wieners compared to thick juicy steaks. And I’m talking literally here. Speaking of steaks, Carol and I spent some time with AJ and his wife Pansie from Texas. Upon learning that AJ’s hobby was cattle, naturally I asked, “So AJ, what’s up with the price of milk being so low?” His response was, “I don’t know Bob, you can’t get milk from a longhorn steer." At the rally in Branson we met more great neighbors, Dick and Diane from Minnesota. I figured I’d impress Dick with my toys: snowmobile, dune buggy and ATV. Dick invited me to his big new motor home and opened his laptop. A few seconds later he printed out a full-size color photo of his ATV. This guy’s ATV is about big as a HumVee. It has four sets of tank tracks in place of the tires, a camping trailer hooked up in back and a gizmo on each side that switches the wheels with skis. He can ice fish miles from shore on the lake where the ice is about 20 feet thick. But wait, as they say on TV, it gets better. This homey camper has a flat screen TV. Talk about “roughing it smoothly."

We also attended the rally in Sevierville, TN. Our motor home was backed up to the Little

Pigeon River and we couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful spot. Even had world-class fly-fishing expert Pete Pepinsky teaching his craft right there in the Pigeon River. Pete is the editor of this magazine. Can it get any

better than that? While we were at this rally, we spent some time with Paul and Gloria, a

couple from North Carolina. Paul and Gloria’s trip home presented a

mind-boggler: A GPS, functioning properly, indicates two vehicles are in exactly the same spot. Vehicle A is headed east and Vehicle B is headed south, but Vehicle A and Vehicle B are 500 feet apart. You’ll find the answer below. You will meet some very interesting and great folks at the Allegro Club rallies, but you’re not going to get milk from a longhorn.

Answer to the GPS question:Vehicle A is going under a bridge heading east and Vehicle B is on the same bridge but is pointed south. Vehicle B is following Vehicle A on the same road. At the given moment, one is directly over the other. In the mountains, this is called a switchback. The GPS satellites show them in the same spot.

What the owners say: Testing the 43 QGP Allegro Busour REvIEwERSRoger and Sydney Rekus

of Iberia, MO, sold their funeral home business in 2008 and retired, living in their 2002 40-ft. Allegro Bus. They now spend winters in Naples, FL, traveling otherwise to visit children

and grandchildren. Their first RV was a popup purchased in 1992, followed by two travel trailers, the '02 Bus and now their '10 Bus. “Since this coach would be our full time home for many years there was no question it would be another Tiffin,” they say proudly.

TURnIng radius, road HAnDLIng and STABILITy

I am very impressed with the 43 QGP’s stability and handling. The coach is solid on the road and the 60-degree wheel cut of my Powerglide Chassis makes tight spots easy to maneuver.

POwER/TORqUE

Power doesn’t seem to be an issue with the 425hp Cummins. We tow a Chevy Tahoe and seem to have plenty of power.

LEARnIng CURvE for MAInTEnAnCE, ELECTROnICS, and other features

A lot of great technology is built into the 2010 Allegro Bus. The energy management system has to be my No. 1 favorite. It’s amazing how sophisticated the electronics have become since we purchased our first Bus in 2002.

nOISE level (both PARkED and MOvIng)

The coach seems to be very quiet both on the road and while we are parked.

efficiency of HEATIng and COOLIng SySTEMSThe Aqua Hot system is another nice feature of our 43 QGP.

We recently spent some time in below-freezing temperatures. The inside of the coach stayed warm and comfortable.

SPACIOUSnESS of LIvIng room

The spaciousness of the living room is great. One of our friends recently said, “You could dance in here.” It is very open with plenty of leg room. It really makes us feel at home.

ATTRACTIvEnESS of interior DECORATIOn

The interior design is tasteful and well done, providing a beautiful and functional living area. It has a rich and elegant look.

wORkABILITy of gALLEy

The galley gives me so much more room than our last Bus. The work area is nice and the pull-out cabinet gives even more work space. I especially like the large sink. The dishwasher is very quiet and does a great job. I also like the electric cook top. I do have a problem reaching the top shelves in the cabinets but at 5’2”, I have been carrying a step stool around all my life.

comfort and USABILITy of BATHROOM

The back bathroom provides plenty of space for one or two people to shower and dress. The shower is plenty big and we both like the large cedar lined closet.

LIvABILITy of BEDROOM

We love the king-sized Select Comfort mattress in the bedroom. The room itself is spacious and we love the ceiling fan.

SIDE ROADS 9

our REvIEwERS When the Leones leave their Hurst, TX, home in their new Allegro Bus, everybody is on board. That’s Frank, Jill, Jordyn (11), Reagan (9) and Foster (Westie, 12). Their Bus is their third RV, following a fifth-wheel toy hauler and another toy hauler. The Leones primarily use their coach for weekend getaways including ATV riding.

TURnIng radius, road HAnDLIng and STABILITy

The Bus is a pleasure to drive. Turning radius is excellent. Road handling and stability are great. Very comfortable and very predictable.

POwER/TORqUE

Seems to be adequate. Pulls very nicely on level ground, but the hills do pose somewhat of a challenge. Speed drops to around 50mph depending on grade.

LEARnIng CURvE for MAInTEnAnCE, ELECTROnICS, and other features

The Bus has been very easy for our entire family to learn. All of the maintenance is very straightforward. The TVs and other electronics have also been easy to figure out. Only one 110-volt plug outside. We cannot turn off the lighted switch lights in the 12-volt panel by the front door and they stay very hot.

nOISE level (both PARkED and MOvIng)

Parked, the noise level is pretty low until the wind starts blowing. Some awning flap above the slides is evident. Down the road, it is surprisingly quiet. A few squeaks and rattles, but very little wind or road noise.

efficiency of HEATIng and COOLIng SySTEMS

The heating system is great. Keeps you toasty on even the coldest nights. The A/C works very well too, although we have not been able to test it out against our 100-degree Texas summers. Occasional smell of diesel exhaust from the Aqua Hot system inside the coach.

SPACIOUSnESS of LIvIng ROOMThe room is great. Plenty of space for everyone to spread out.

The kids usually sleep on the pullout air mattress, which they love. Occasionally they end up on opposing sofas.

ATTRACTIvEnESS of interior DECORATIOn

We special-ordered our coach, so we got to pick every last detail including the booth dinette. The Bellagio colors, which we had not seen before our purchase, turned out even better than we expected. We especially like the White Chocolate cabinets in the master bath. All of the accents are very nice and the colors are beautiful.

wORkABILITy of gALLEy

The galley is very nice and has plenty of room. The sink is a good size and the dishwasher is very helpful.

comfort and USABILITy of BATHROOM

Bathrooms are well sized. I am 6’3” and I have ample head room to function in the master bath. Double sinks are nice, especially with four of us on board. The electric flushing toilet in master bath is a nice touch, however when the black tank is 75% full, a float switch disables this toilet.

LIvABILITy of BEDROOMThe master has good room for moving around. Nice layout.

Great TV and good storage. Beautiful colors and wall accents.

“The 43 QGP Bus is a pleasure to drive. Road handling and stability are great. Very comfortable and very predictable.”

10 SIDE ROADS

Jack Donovan and Ken Kaplan sold Tiffin motorhomes at La Mesa RV in San Bernardino, CA. This is the sixth installment of their cross-country odyssey in a 35 TSB Allegro Bay FRED to learn the RV lifestyle.

Anyone could drive a coach from Alabama to California and cover nine states in the process, I explained to Ken, but it would take a truly extraordinary effort to take in 10 states. I had always wanted to see the bright lights of Las Vegas and Nevada was only about 350 miles away. Ken agreed in about two seconds. With Ken behind the wheel and 1,928 miles on the odometer, we left Ranch Sedona (AZ) RV Park, after leaving a nice note, our business cards and cash to cover our stay, since the office was not open. After 100 miles, we pulled into the Route 66 Diner in Williams, AZ. The eatery is a throwback to the 1950s and filled with hungry patrons including us. Ken ordered steak and eggs without hesitation, still seeking culinary satisfaction from his disappointment in Hereford, TX. As we sipped our coffee, we took a moment to observe the diverse group. Three blokes from England, outfitted

in full Harley Davidson regalia,

were telling two Aussies, also attired

in Harley, that they had rented motorcycles for a

two-week tour. The Aussies also were on walkabout in the states and were on their way to Sturgis, ND. Ken’s steak arrived plump, juicy and medium rare. My over-easy eggs were very fresh and the bacon had one last sizzle as it was placed before me. This was without a doubt the finest breakfast we experienced on the trip. Stopping for fuel in Kingman, AZ, at the 2,142-mile mark, we filled the tank with 68.6 gallons, so we were making 8.85 miles to the gallon. I took over the driving and was looking forward to viewing Hoover Dam in the Colorado River's Black Canyon. Visualize 726 feet from the foundation to the top of the dam to understand why Hoover Dam has been a tourist destination since its completion in 1936. We parked the coach and joined countless tourists snapping photos before driving the final 30 miles to Las Vegas. At 2:30 p.m., we pulled into the KOA at Circus Circus with 2,248 miles on the odometer. The temperature is a stifling 106 degrees but with relatively low humidity. The camping fee is a staggering $84 but with a discount coupon from a local magazine, the charge drops to a more palatable $68 including water and electric.

We find a local favorite where a nice steak dinner with all the trimmings costs $4.99. The restaurant is in a casino. We are told the wait is about two hours, but often less. Ken and I set off to gamble a bit. I find a single-deck blackjack table and watch the action for a few moments before sitting down. Ken learns he can get a free drink by gambling at the bar and sits down to some video poker. About 10 minutes later, Ken joins me with his “free” beer after losing $20 on the 25-cent video poker machine. I tell Ken single-deck blackjack is our best opportunity to win. Ken buys in at the $5 minimum-bet table for $20 and I buy in for $40. Harry, the dealer, offers advice and hints. In five minutes, Ken is $20 poorer and back to the bar for another “free” drink. I play for about 45 minutes and join him at the bar $150 poorer. I am becoming disenchanted with Las Vegas. Finally, we are seated in a modest but comfortable booth. The steak special is a local secret, not listed on the menu. We are rewarded with a generously sized, wonderful cut of sirloin, French onion soup, tossed green salad, freshly steamed vegetables, and a baked potato with all the trimmings. It was absolutely delicious. I am thinking the night is young and Ken is thinking the night is over. My suggestions of more exciting gambling action, world-class entertainment and bright lights are met with snoring sounds from the master suite. Tired, I also turned in.

Jack & Ken’s RV OdysseyThe steaks are low, but the stakes are high in Vegas

Campgrounds

The Niagara Frontier Allegros claim South Woods RV Resort in Byron, NY, as their home park, and the Spooky Hayrides around the park offered to costumed children at Halloween just added to the attraction. Chapter members passed out candy.

Jackson Rancheria RV Park in Jackson, CA, about 30 miles east of Stockton, is part of a hotel and casino complex. The Gold Rush Allegros report it offers 99 full hookups, concrete pads and nicely manicured grass sites. The park is level, making biking easy. Amenities include a large pool and hot tub, meeting room/kitchen that accommodates at least 60 people, a large outdoor gas grille, free coffee, wi-fi, fenced dog runs and shuttle service to the casino. The park requires every rig dump its tanks upon arrival. Park staff does the task while guests are registering, causing a bit of delay during busy periods. Group reservations are recommended. The Pelican Allegros of Louisiana describe Cajun Palms in Henderson, LA, as excellent, clean and spacious with full hookups, concrete pads, two ponds, a huge clubhouse with meeting rooms, a movie theater and exercise room, and a pool with a tiki bar. The campground has a covered area Tom and Barbara Meredith were able to commandeer for slow-roasting a pig in their Cajun Microwave, which we have not seen; however our best guess is that it is neither patented nor available at the big box stores. Maybe the Merediths and Wendell Raybon should open a restaurant. For the chapter's Christmas party, Wendell

charbroiled a ham stuffed with garlic and jalapenos, plus he fried a turkey. The Great Outdoors in Titusville, FL, lives up to its name with a great pool with aquasize class every morning, golf course and bicycling, report the Citrus Allegros. The Arkansas Diamond Allegros favor Maumelle Park in Little Rock, on the bank of the Maumelle River. The sites are large and shady and the grounds are lovely, the chapter reports. No surprise here: The scenery at Cloud Nine RV Park in Hot Springs, AR, is gorgeous, say the Mississippi Allegros. The small campground sits atop a mountain. The campground staff spoiled the chapter with sandwich fixings, fruit and a decorated cake at the clubhouse. Newly remodeled Merrill Campground overlooks Eagle Lake near Susanville, CA, and the Battle Born Allegros give it thumbs-up. Activities include nature gazing, bike riding, hiking, kayaking and looking (unsuccessfully) for ice caves. The Space Coast Allegros say Tropical Palms Resort in Kissimmee, FL is a great place to hold a rally. The resort is within five miles of Walt Disney World Theme Parks and many other attractions. Tropical Palms offers a poolside café among its amenities. Maple Grove RV Park in Randall, WA, is recommended by the Columbia River Allegros, who cite the park's indoor swimming, recreation hall, golf and mountain scenery. Most RV spaces are drive-through.

Restaurants Larry's Main Street in Batavia, NY, specializes in steak but the chicken wings are worth the visit too, say the Niagara Frontier Allegros. Grandstands, the res-taurant in Batavia Downs Casino, is also recommended by the chapter. In Albion, NY, the chapter likes the Village Inn, which opened as a stagecoach stop in 1824. Try the prime rib. The Battle Born Allegros of Northern Nevada and Eastern California enjoy the German and American cuisine, good atmosphere and good service at the Driftwood Inn in Brown's Valley, CA. The chapter also favors Mi Casa Too Restaurant in Carson City, NV. The restaurant features Mexican cuisine and has a nice atmosphere, very good food and excellent service, they report.

The Pelican Allegros in Louisiana know a thing or two about good food, so here are two recommendations from the chapter in French Settlement, LA: Kevin's Cajun Seafood and the Hilltop Inn. While at Cajun Palms in Henderson, LA, the chapter scouted Mulates, Crawfish Town USA, Pat's Fisherman's Wharf and Café Des Amis (breakfast with live zydeco music), and they all rated excellent or better than excellent. "You will not starve," the chapter report promises. The Citrus Allegros recommend two eateries: Dixie Crossroads, famous for seafood, in Titusville, FL, and Millikin's

New Breeze introduced(Continued from Page 3)

General Manager Tim Tiffin expects the Allegro Breeze to appeal to many RVers. "This new motor home enables us to reach out to new markets, including younger families seeking an alternative to more costly vacation arrangements and veteran RV folks who no longer want to drive, set-up or maintain a 40-foot-plus diesel pusher," he said. Performance and maneuverability are not the only drawing cards for the Breeze. "The Allegro Breeze is a contemporary, exciting, high-end smaller coach," Bob Tiffin adds. "The furniture and décor are sleek. We also came up with a very attractive antique white finish for cabinets and drawer fronts. The whole package will be eye-catching at the beach, a tailgating party or a campground. As the economy rebounds, we predict customers will clearly see the passion, value and quality we put into this new coach." For additional information including dealer locations visit www.tiffinmotorhomes.com.

Tiffin Motorhomes received one of three prestigious 2009 Quality Circle Awards presented by the Recreational Vehicle Dealers Association to Class A motor home manufacturers for design, reliability, quality, value and competitive price. “We appreciate this recognition from dealers,” says Tim Tiffin. “We want our reputation to be built by satisfied customers and dealers as well as quality, engineering innovation and value. It is a never-ending process. We have worked hard throughout the market downturn to develop new products like the Allegro Breeze and to enhance working relationships with dealers and customers.” Tiffin has earned the Quality Circle Award 11 of the 14 years it has been presented by the RVDA in connection with its Dealer Satisfaction Index. The 2009 survey included 1,644 brand ratings from 322 dealers. Quality Circle Awards are made to manufacturers receiving at least 15 dealer responses and scoring at least 80% in overall dealer satisfaction. In addition to the consumer-related categories of the survey, Tiffin also was recognized with the Quality Circle Award for exemplary warranty, parts, sales and communications support to dealerships.

New Breeze introduced

Some fridge cooling units, brake pedals recalledSome cooling units in Norcold refrigerators and some Kongsberg adjustable brake pedals that have been installed in Tiffin Motorhomes have been recalled. Norcold Inc., a manufacturer of RV refrigerators, has extended a previous recall to include 528 refrigerators in 2001-2003 Tiffin Motorhomes. On July 22, 2002 Norcold announced a safety recall to address a potential fatigue failure in cooling units in Norcold model numbers 1200LR and 1200RIM built after December 1, 2001. Norcold has expanded the recall to include Norcold models 1200LR, 1200LRIM and 1201LRIM manufactured from March 1, 2001 to December 31, 2002. The Norcold refrigerators in the expanded recall have serial numbers between 1273701 and 1536607, non-consecutively. According to Norcold, "The nature of the defect is a fatigue failure in the section of the cooling unit which contains the refrigerant. This fatigue could allow the liquid solution to slowly leak from the cooling unit. If a leak occurs and refrigerator continues to be operated after solution circulation has ceased the heat source could generate very high

temperatures. At such high temperatures the steel material of the cooling unit could soften and rupture. If refrigerant gas is still in place when the rupture occurs hydrogen gas may be expelled and could be ignited by the high temperature, possibly causing a fire." The cooling unit serial number is located on the solution chamber, which can be viewed through the refrigerator vent door on the outside of your coach. The serial number on the cooling unit differs from the serial number of your refrigerator. If your refrigerator is part of the recall, it requires retrofitting with a thermal switch kit. Extended operation of a leaking cooling unit could cause a fire, resulting in personal injury (including death) and/or property damage. Set the controls to “OFF” and unplug the refrigerator through the service vent on the outside of the vehicle. Call Norcold’s Recall Center at 800-767-9101 or visit Norcold’s website at http://www.norcold.com to arrange a service date and to help you locate the nearest service center. Parts and labor for the repair will be at no charge.

The recalled Kongsberg adjustable brake pedals were installed on Tiffin PowerGlide chassis from May 2007 through December 2009. The drive pin which secures the brake pedal arm to the remainder of the assembly may become disengaged, resulting in a loss of vehicle braking function and/or causing the brake pedal to move out of position and interfere with the throttle pedal function. Either of these conditions could result in a vehicle crash. The modification consists of installing a C-clamp fixture on the brake pedal arm to secure the pin in position. The C-clamp kit and instructions have been sent to the customers or dealer (unsold coaches) along with a letter explaining the recall. Tiffin is allowing a $32 flat rate for this repair. All dealers and service centers can make this repair to the PowerGlide chassis. Only Tiffin PowerGlide chassis are covered by this Tiffin recall. Owners of the chassis manufactured by Freightliner, which has a similar recall on the Kongsberg adjustable brake pedals, should contact Freightliner.

Chapter chatter(Continued from Page 12)

Reef with good food of all types, indoor and deck seating, plus a live band in Port Canaveral, FL.

Destination Attractions Nevada City and Grass Valley, both in California, are quaint towns with good shopping and nice restaurants, according to the Battle Born Allegros. The chapter cautions travelers that extensive road work is under way in this area, so a check with California authorities on road conditions would be wise. In Jackson, CA, the Gold Rush Allegros hit the jackpot on attractions. The Amador County Fairgrounds are nearby in Plymouth. Three old gold mining towns, Sutter Creek, Amador City and Dry Town are fun and filled with good restaurants.

The Amador County Wine Country is a short drive from Plymouth and features celebrated tasting rooms. Daylily farmers offer their flowers in profusion. The Mississippi Allegros toured the Nissan plant in Canton, MS, during a campout at Springridge RV Park in Clinton, MS. Near Spring Valley Campground in Cambridge, OH, the Erie Shore Allegros visited The Wilds, a semi-natural habitat park for exotic animals. Bus tours are available. Chapter members considered it a nice display and worth their time. "A great place to find anything you can imagine" is the Citrus Allegros' description of Travis Hardware Store on Delannoy Avenue in Cocoa, FL. The store dates from 1885 and is surrounded by a

unique shopping village with boutiques and restaurants. Imagine a 240-acre Antique Tractor and Engine Show. Better yet, visit one, as the Space Coast Allegros did in Fort Meade, FL. The Florida Flywheelers Antique Engine Club (floridaflywheelers.org) offers two shows a year, featuring daily parades of tractors and automobiles, draft horse pulls, tractor pulls, a village with sawmill, stables, woodworking shop, antique tractor museums, a crafts build-ing and live entertainment. The Clinton Presidential Library, Heifer International Headquarters and Museum, Murry's Dinner Playhouse and great restaurants await you in Little Rock, according to the Arkansas Allegro Diamonds.
