As a corridor for commuting, transit, utility access, and recreation, the ERC will connect tens of thousands of people to community destinations, services, and economic centers, including large employers such as Google, Microsoft, Boeing, TMobile, and Kaiser Permanente. TIGER: Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery Together, King County and the City of Kirkland seek to leverage private and local funding to construct key connected segments of the Eastside Rail Corridor. King County and the City of Kirkland are submitting a joint application requesting $25 million from the U.S. Department of Transportation’s TIGER Discretionary Grants program. Once completed, the project will provide critical access and safety improvements to what will become the most heavily used portion of the corridor. Wilburton Center Segment King County will construct a master plan trail section in Bellevue’s Wilburton neighborhood, adjacent to downtown Bellevue and the Spring District area. It runs from north of I90 to NE 8 th Street connecting to the East Link Light Rail transit facility. At the heart of a rapidly growing city, Wilburton is envisioned to include a broader mix of uses to meet the area's expected 110,000 jobs and 21,500 housing units by 2035. Once complete, the corridor will connect communities to employment centers, health services, and community green spaces while accommodating utilities and nearand longterm light rail transit development. Totem Lake Connector The Totem Lake Connector helps manifest Kirkland’s master plan for a transportation corridor by providing an elevated pedestrian/bicycle crossing over the busiest intersection in Kirkland’s designated urban center, where more than 3,500 new homes and 550,000 square feet of new development is under construction or in the permitting process. This bridge will offer a safe, comfortable and engaging route to shopping, parks, schools, medical facilities and the urban center’s planned 20,600 jobs. Construction of the Totem Lake Connector will also provide a critical link to the overall 42mile corridor that extends from Renton to Snohomish County. The Eastside Rail Corridor 42 miles long 2 counties (King and Snohomish counties) 6 cities (Snohomish, Woodinville, Kirkland, Redmond, Bellevue, and Renton) Sound Transit: regional high capacity transit Puget Sound Energy & King County: major utilities The Project Adding over 2.25 miles of critical connection to 11 miles of locally funded corridor segment Location: Kirkland and Bellevue Partners: King County and the City of Kirkland Total Project Cost: $44 million TIGER ask: $25 million

TIGER 2017: New Connections for Eastside Innovation Centers

A historic freight railroad, the Eastside Rail Corridor (ERC) is an unparalleled opportunity to transform the

transportation network for the east side of Lake Washington. As a corridor for commuting, transit, utility access, and

recreation, the ERC will connect tens of thousands of people to community destinations, services, and economic

centers, including large employers such as Google, Microsoft, Boeing, T‐Mobile, and Kaiser Permanente.

TIGER: Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery

Together, King County and the City of Kirkland seek to leverage private and local

funding to construct key connected segments of the Eastside Rail Corridor. King

County and the City of Kirkland are submitting a joint application requesting $25

million from the U.S. Department of Transportation’s TIGER Discretionary

Grants program. Once completed, the project will provide critical access and safety

improvements to what will become the most heavily used portion of the corridor.

Wilburton Center Segment

King County will construct a master plan trail section in Bellevue’s Wilburton

neighborhood, adjacent to downtown Bellevue and the Spring District  area. It  runs

from north of I‐90  to NE 8th Street connecting to the East Link Light Rail transit

facility. At the heart of a rapidly growing city, Wilburton is envisioned to include a broader mix of uses to meet the area's expected 110,000 jobs and 21,500housing units by 2035. Once complete, the corridor will connect communities

to employment centers, health services, and community green spaces while

accommodating utilities and near‐ and long‐term light rail transit development.

Totem Lake Connector

The Totem Lake Connector helps manifest Kirkland’s master plan for a

transportation corridor by providing an elevated pedestrian/bicycle

crossing over the busiest intersection in Kirkland’s designated urban center,

where more than 3,500 new homes and 550,000 square feet of new development

is under construction or in the permitting process. This bridge will offer a safe,

comfortable and engaging route to shopping, parks, schools, medical facilities and

the urban center’s planned 20,600 jobs. Construction of the Totem Lake

Connector will also provide a critical link to the overall 42‐mile corridor that

extends from Renton to Snohomish County.
