Change of Venue for the March Event
In the last year Doug Askew has become very
active in the club, from attending the picnic last year to going to the national show in Pittsburgh, to our overnight
road trip to the Tail of the Dragon, to the Xmas Party, to our meeting at Summit Racing. For a member who lives
50 miles outside of Atlanta, he sure is active. He and his son Tim are hosting a car show near
Greensboro, GA on Lake Oconee Saturday, March 21. Using Marietta GA as ground zero, the drive to
Summit Racing was about 50 miles. Greensboro is 90 miles. What could be better than a morning cruise in the cool air to a car show? Your GTO will love it, and you
know you will too. Let’s support one of our club members by bringing
more cars to their show. A way to say thanks for participating in the club. Plus, it is a new venue for us,
and that keeps the events interesting. Imagine the crowd’s reaction to a herd of Goats roaring in!
We’ll meet right off I-20 east of 285 to convoy over to the Greensboro area. Let’s make this a good showing
for the club! Details are on page 4, and the show flyer is on page 5.

President’s Message
We had a great trip to Summit Racing and got some great
deals. A set of chrome headers (list $809.00) for $300.00, a posi rear end for $100.00! Summit also provided door prizes for
everyone at lunch, and Summit Racing hats for all the attendees. Thanks Steve & Summit!! It was great to see the
Feislers, and meet our new members. The weather was cool but clear, a great day for a trip down the interstate in a classic car. During our meeting we discussed the upcoming BOPC,
and our responsibility for the 2016 BOPC. We have a lot of decisions to make as a club.
Hope you’all will make plans to make the short trip to Lake Oconee for our March meeting. Members asked to have to
have meetings in different locations, and Mike has arranged plenty of different locations!! See you there!
Is anyone interested in managing/running a SEGTOA Booth in the Vendors section at the Motorama in April? We
could sell Club Member donated (excess) parts and raise money for the Club and recruit Pontiac members. Preferably the
volunteer would be someone not taking a car to the Motorama (to have the time). If interested please let me know.

February 21, 2015
We had a great turnout for the February meeting, despite the chilly temperatures. In all, 16 people in 9 cars made the trip. The Scratch ‘n’ Dent sale netted some great deals for a couple of members, and everyone had a
great time. Lunch was done up really well by O.B.’s Barbecue, and Steve Kester provided numerous door prizes from Summit. The cars:
Steve Kester—1990 TransAm
John Kanaly—1998 Grand Prix
Kenny Simpson—2002 Formula Year One Edition
Mike Walling—1967 GTO
Gary Micetich—1965 GTO
Ed Bellair—1968 GTO
David Fiesler—1964 GTO
Doug Askew—1970 GTO
John Link—1965 Buick Riviera

5th Annual Big Event Car Show
Lake Oconee Village
Road Trips!
By Mike Walling
I need suggestions for upcoming events for our club meetings/activities. See the following pages for March through July events. As always, we need your input to keep
things rolling!
This show is being run by Doug and Tim Askew. As you saw on page 1, Doug has been a big supporter of SEGTOA, so let’s return the favor and get a big group of cars out to this show on beautiful Lake Oconee just south of Greensboro. There will be many vendors, prizes for the Top 30 cars, live entertainment, and boats too. This is the largest annual event on Lake Oconee. Registration is a measly $10, a deal at twice the price. Registration opens at 10:30 AM, the show runs from 11 AM until 5 PM. The show flyer is on the following page.
Here are the details on where we’ll meet to convoy over. Let’s make for a good-sized caravan to garner lots of thumbs-up on the way over, and let everyone hear the Tigers roar as we roll in! Our meeting place to convoy east will be at 9:15 AM at:
BP Gas Station 2944 Panola Road
Lithonia, GA 30038
The BP is located at exit #71 on I-20, east of I-285. This way everyone from the south and west does not have to go out of their way. Take the exit and turn right. Look to your left ½ block down. Restrooms and gas. Then we have another 67 miles to go for the show. Meeting time is 9:15 AM. If you’re traveling separately from the convoy, use 1050 Parkside Main, Greensboro, GA 30642 to plug into your nav system. Our understanding is the car show is behind the Parkside Main 8 theaters. Easy directions are: I-20 East, Exit 130. Right onto Lake Oconee Parkway. Right at 7 miles you should see signs on where to park.

Tech Tips - A Good Tool is Hard to Find
I started to call this article “Gee, look what we can do” or “That’s amazing.” I purchased an Eastwood Hot Stapler Plastic Repair System (see photo) to repair the
door panel of a ’68 Thunderbird. The door panel was made with an ABS type plastic backing and 40 years had taken its toll. I hoped the plastic welding tool would work,
but hadn’t tried anything like it. The Thunderbird’s door panel had previous repairs with sheet metal, rivets and body filler. They held the plastic panel together but….
Bob Immekus and I were able to easily repair the cracks in the plastic door panel
using the Eastwood System. The System basically heats a stainless steel staple (various shapes or bend to fit-see photo) that the system heats and you melt into the
piece that needs repair. The stainless steel staple reinforces the strained area so it’s stronger than it was when it was new. Then, you cut off the excess staple as needed.
A strong repair in a short time.
We were also able to repair the remote mirror of a ’76 Buick recently with the
Eastwood system. The control wires for the Buick remote mirror came thru a plastic block to the mirror adjustment knob. The plastic block was cracked in 3 places and
missing the lower portion of the block. The block is no longer available and the chances of finding a used one in better shape were very slim. With the plastic stapler,
Bob was able to repair and reinforce the block and add a “found” piece of plastic to the block. This type of detail work takes time, patience, and a Dremel tool but the mirror now operates as it should.
With so many more plastic items in newer cars, and around our houses today, I can see many more uses for this Plastic repair system. So, what’s the system cost
at eastwood.com is $128.00+/-, also available on Ebay. One use can pay for this tool!

Ames Performance is proud to announce it's
new acquisition of Performance Years Pontiac!
That's right! By the time you have a chance to read this, the merger between the two most profound, ALL Pontiac restoration companies will be
complete. Over the past few months, PY owner Chris Casperson has been working diligently with Ames owners Kevin Beal and Don Emery to discuss
the future of both companies within the industry. A decision was reached, that PY would better serve the wholesale side of the industry leaving the
retail to Ames Performance.
PY, a distinguished supplier in the industry, will now focus solely on
manufacturing desirable Pontiac reproductions under the name Max Performance. Ames will now be the only, exclusive one stop shop for
Pontiac restoration needs. It was agreed, by both parties, that this was the best decision to support the entire classic Pontiac restoration hobby. One
thing for sure is we will continue to give our customers the best Ames experience possible with our high level of customer service, quality parts
and fair pricing.
Thank you for your continued support,
The Ames Team
