Upper Secondary School system in

Finland All Finnish upper secondary

schools are non-graded.

Most students complete their studies in three years.

A student will complete a minimum of 75 courses, both compulsory and optional.

Finland At the end of their studies

students take the Finnish matriculation examination.

This examination consists of at least four tests in differerent subjects.

Passing the Matriculation Examination entitles the student to continue studies at tertiary level.

Visual Arts Established in 1925 as a boy

school, girls came there in 1977.

School has specialised in visual arts since 1985.

The school is situated in the district of Kallio.

(aged 16-19) is 580.

Student selection is based on an entrance test plus the grade point average of academic subjects in the school leaving certificate.

Visual Arts All students will take at least 12

art courses. More than 60 art courses are offered in our school each year.

Art subjects include painting and drawing, graphic art, film, photography, ceramics, sculpture, technical drawing, textile art and multi-media.

Visual Arts Our school has been an ASP

(Unesco) school since 1990.

We have created a network of twinning schools with student exchange, exhibitions, excursions, school camps and projects in several European countries.

Personal facts

Tiina Kärkkäinen, 33 years old teacher of history and social studies.

At home right now with two daughters, I will back to work on August 2014.

Participated in Comenius, have been in teacher exchange etc. and would like to continue international cooperation.
