• An assessment includes looking at the vegetation

within, and surrounding, the community, as well as the

vulnerability of structures within the community.

• The assessment of existing conditions leads to

recommendations for improvement – or risk reduction.

• Structure Assessments:

• Criteria is based on scientific tests and evidence

from past fires.

• Reducing wildfire risk is a choice, and responsibility, of

the homeowner.

• Intent is to identify and educate homeowners on the ways

to reduce their wildfire risk.

• Relative Risk = compared to others in a given area

• Not Absolute = will survive / will burn

• Results are for EDUCATIONAL purposes – to

inform homeowners where vulnerabilities exist and

provide mitigation options to reduce risk.

Some Key Elements

Roof: Is the roof a non-combustible, Class A roof assembly?

Siding: Is the home’s siding non-combustible? To what degree?

Defensible Space: Has mitigation been done and maintained

immediately around the home? Home Ignition Zone

Timberline View Estates

Access: Are there two ways in/out of the community? Are the

driveway and road widths adequate for emergency vehicles and

evacuation?

Dangerous Topography: Is the home located close to

topography that will increase fire intensity?

Address Visibility: Is the address displayed clearly from the

road? Visible? Reflective?

Vegetation Density: What is the composition of vegetation

(fuels) around the home and in the community as a whole?
