Assignment 2 – Problem Statement and SCQA

The following is our groups Problem statement to our App Idea:

“Adults waste food they already have and money on takeaways because they lack food knowledge and what to do with their ingredients.”

According to the NHS, takeaways are often cheap, convenient and satisfying but, unfortunately, they're not always very healthy.

NHS say, The average takeaway pizza costs around £10, and if you add a fizzy drink and potato wedges it adds up to a massive 1,060 calories: that's almost half the daily allowance for a woman.

Our app idea, Time4Food, hopes to solve situations such as having no time to cook, eating unhealthily, not knowing what to make with the little food you have. Our app idea lists you out with all the possible things you can make with the food you have, It can also help you to eat healthily. It saves time and money by preventing you from ordering takeaway and wasting massive amounts of money every year.

Every week millions of students and adults sadly waste food and money because of lack of time.

They resort to buying takeaways which results in a massive amount of money lost every year.

This will have a massive impact on the amount of money you save every year.

With prices raising you will realize that you are wasting food and going way over your daily calorie allowance.

Instead of you saving money at the end of every year, the amount you have been saving has begun to decrease compared to each year that passes.

What can we do to help millions of people save food and prevent them from becoming overweight by wasting money on unhealthy takeaways?

Under half of the UK population carries a smartphone. Time4Food will help them to save money because it reminds them that there is always at home ready for you to cook as long as you have food in your home.

Our app will be aimed at people who waste a lot of food and parents who don’t have great knowledge of how to cook. For example, if you have a lot of food in your fridge and you don’t know what to do with them, you type the ingredients down in our app and it will tell you variety of delicious recipes you can cook with them and also there is tutorial video for popular foods like pasta moreover, if you have a lot of children in your family and your wife or yourself is busy to cook, you can always order food from our app and also we have links to top popular food take away for e.g. Pizza hut.

Why

This app will be created because we want our audience to save money and not waste food. Our app will save a lot of food that goes to waste and this will decrease the amount of global warming, we believe that our customers will be happy about saving money and this might sort out their financial problems. This app is specially designed for people who have families and kids. We know how busy they get when they are looking after their kids so this helps them to save time by giving fast tutorial of how to cook sensational dishes.

Where

This app will mostly use when people comeback from their work to home. This is because that is the time when parents have to cook dinner or lunch for their family. If you have huge amount of food in your fridge that is going to be wasted you can use our app to cook luxurious recipes, this way will help our busy parents to save money and food.

When

Our app will mostly be used when your fridge contains a lot of food and you don’t know what to cook with them. You will have to type the ingredients that you have in your fridge and our app will show tutorials and recipes of what you can make with those ingredients. Also if you have a really bad knowledge of how to cook, our app will also show videos on how to cook the fastest recipes at any time.

What

Time4Food is an app idea that helps you to save money, food and time. It gathers up all the food in your home and lists out all the possible recipes you could make with them. So instead of ordering out for a greasy takeaway it will help you to save money. Time4Food gathers all this great food and presents you with new & existing recipes to try out.

The following research is done on the Alternatives to our app idea. As a group we feel that the android platform, there aren’t any apps that will solve our problem as effectively. For us to research on this topic of Alternative this mainly comprised of secondary research. We did this by exploring apple and Android app stores.

Part of our group took the role of researching using secondary data. One method they used was searches over the Internet to find any other apps that are comparable to ours.

The following research is regarding the Users of our app. As a group we feel that there are people who are in need of our app. Our research method on our users was carried out by our primary researchers. These were conducted by the other half of the group. We found that 85% of those who were surveyed needed our app. The age range of our users on average would be 16-25.

You user exits the app. The recipes accessed save to the ‘My Recipes’ tab. The splash screen reappears and then it exits.
