Preface: Teacher candidates in some 24 states are faced with the challenge of edTPA for teacher state certification. The edTPA is

“a subject area specific, performance-based assessment for pre-service teacher candidates, centered on student

learning”. The teacher candidate is asked to submit evidence and artifacts of requested teaching tasks, which may contain

planning documents, lesson plans, teacher candidate videos, student assessment documents, reflection documents and

more.

This lesson plan interactive learning template will prepare students for the upcoming exam, by incorportatig many of the

required thing and technical skills.

This lesson plan document may be requested by the Touro professor and can be delivered by email or uploaded to a

Blackboard assignment. There are places for the teacher candidate to enter information, insert links to video and also to

insert scanned or photographs of student assessment documents before and after completion.

This Interactive Lesson plan document provides:

An interactive learning documents aligned with guided assistance (links).

Written response areas for both the Touro student and the Touro instructor

A summary of components necessary for a top rating, as outlined on edTPA rubrics (see appropriate edTPA)

handbook.

A structured email communication system with my course instructor.

Insertion of teacher candidate’s assessment documents

The Lesson: Title of Lesson: Telling Time On The Quarter Hour

This lesson is part of a 3-5 lesson unit. Please describe this unit: In this unit, students are

introduced to reading time in an analog and digital clock.

Connection: Explain how the big idea connects this lesson with the other 3-5 lessons in the

learning segment? This unit gradually introduces students to different levels of reading time

in an analog and digital clock. In the first lesson, students learned how to read the movements of

the hour and minutes hands. Then, the learned how to read time on the hour and half-hour. In

the last lesson, students will learn to read elapse time.

Summative Assessment: What will the final summative assessment expect students to do?

Draw on Prior Knowledge:

Students already know how to read time on the hour and half- hour.

What are the roles of any additional adults in the class during your lesson?

A paraprofessional is in the classroom to assist the students with disabilities.

Lesson Modifications/Accommodations: If this lesson has a student with an IEP (focus student), complete this section.

NICHCY Categories of Disabilities – Special Education Acronyms –

What is the Disability category?

Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder. List several goals of the focused learner.

1) Matt will complete assignments in a timely manner with 80% accuracy. Benchmark: He

will utilize teachers and study skills class to complete assignments and get a better

understanding of the material. He will bring appropriate supplies to class so that all work can be completed. He will raise his hand or approach the teacher to ask for help when he

does not have a clear understanding. When he is having trouble staying on task, he can

take a time out in the hall or use the appropriate suggestions in his behavior plan.

material, lessons on the smartboard or overhead projector, outlines, diagrams, charts, maps and

educational videos – all things he can see helps him to absorb information.

Describe your method of differentiating the lesson to include all students.

Most of my lessons are taught with a smart board. The use of a smart board allows me to meet

most of the individual needs of my students. I can incorporate visuals, kinesthetic, and

interactive activities in my lessons. This is a great tool to keep students engaged throughout the

lesson.

Knowledge of students: How you will use your knowledge of the students to plan the lesson activities, pacing, choices, etc.

My students’ disabilities help me plan my lessons with the appropriate accommodations and

adaptations to meet my students’ needs.
