Sustainable

Something which meets the needs of today’s generations whilst protecting the environment, without stopping future generations from having their needs met.

NIMBY A person who sees that developments (e.g. new homes, prisons, wind farms) are needed, but protests against these developments being built near to their home.

Green belt An area of ‘pristine’ land which has never been developed.

habitat A place which is home to a species or group of species.

stakeholder Somebody with an involvement in an issue.

National Grid

The network that supplies electricity, from mainly ‘fossil fuel’ sources, to our homes.
